One of my favourite on bike laps. Must have watched this one a hundred times. Hizzy was a massive talent. Super smooth.
Thank you very much for uploading this. Steve Hislop's description of his TT lap is a thing to cherish. RIP Steve. Flying Haggis forever!

I was lucky enough to witness hizzy at the TT when he won on the Norton. me and my dad at hillberry and I remember my dad getting really excited on the last lap ever since that he was my all time favourite rider..God bless ya Steve never forgotten pal
The RC45, a true thing of beauty.
As a 14 year old boy I saw this on the tv coverage that year. I was mesmerised.... and then my bike habit began! What a legend, RIP Steve.
Aaah Hizzy.... Another great legend from the old school... Another legend I miss so much.... What a great tutoring on a lap of the TT circuit... Helpful tips everywhere and so descriptive in the feeling of the bike and the tyres... I seriously miss you Hizzy... Everytime I blast through Hawick on my Blade I think of you brother...
RIP Steve you will never be forgotten! 👌
Thanks for this. Very illuminating. Steve Hislop didn't like the RC45 (it was a relatively new bike in '94) - he said "it had a mind of its own." Joey Dunlop and Phil McCallen were also scared of its potential for errant handling. Incidentally, the F1 race of '94 started in the dry but then it pissed down. Everyone was still on slicks, obviously. In the end it was rerun on the Sunday, and Steve won it - and the Senior too, on the following Friday. Also worth mentioning is Joey Dunlop's encounter with, firstly, a dog and secondly a van (!!). A workman did not know there was racing on the Sunday and so had set out on a part of the circuit. Only Dunlop's reactions and luck saw him avoid it. Suffice to say questions were raised regarding the organisation and administration of the TT races.
Steve, you're the best bike racer who ever lived!
What people don’t appreciate is the physical aspect, you have to be quite fit and have good core strength to hold onto a machine trying to throw you off or manhandle it around corners or stop it crushing you into the frame. They still manage to make it look easy even though it looks terrifying. Much respect and appreciation to all the riders past and present who have thrilled us with their skill.
MY Hero, sorry VR46, Hissy is THE man! This lap always brings a tear to my eye, I think he was a legend around the TT, those bikes were NOT like todays bikes. Still amazing technical achievements for the era.

My mate had a DT50 and I had TS50 .. 1979.. lol.. magic two 16 year olds tear arsing around Dumbarton and the Vale
What do say? Nothing but Respect for these Men!
I wonder how many riders have watched this video for tips before tackling the TT? You’d struggle to get better advice! Quality commentary from the man himself 🏍🏍🏍
I always wanted an RC45 at the time i had to settle for vfr 400 lol but it looked similar just no where near as quick lol. I ended up with the fireblade for silly speed's. Then came the Bandit 1200 and the driving ban lol. Now i have a fiat punto 1.4...oh how times change.
What a guy a true professional through and through I love my RC45 and this just makes it even better. Great up load.
HISLOP = BALLS OF ABERDEEN GRANITE RIP STEVE A NICE GUY
Hizzy..Bloody amazing on a pretty shithouse RVF750...We were there for this year..watched just after the Raven when Robert Dunlops back wheel broke off the Medd RC45...Ups and downs for Honda
Race In Heaven Steve Hislop ! You earned your badge in History! You proved the saying "Knowing The Road Like the back of your hand !
Hand-Eye co-ordination extraordinaire.....just 'feather' it, he says. (heh)..Ok Steve. You make it look so easy.
Fantastic. One of the best commentaries/explanations ever.
Mesmerising. What a legend. RIP
Comparing generations is away subjective, but hizzy was the greatest imho. It's also interesting how the circuit evolves year on year, and also how more powerful bikes change what you do and where. He's probably 50bhp down on a 2017 superbike. A fascinating thought!
I've at to watch this now the TT is on 2023. What a lap.
The Flying Haggis... we miss him so much.
great film ,its a bit sad that the rc45 just wasnt ready as stevie was faster in 91 on the rvf and the norton in 92 but he still showed them all the way home ,such a great talent and on the short stuff as well ,god bless x
Love his calm delivery in stark contrast with the mad speed and big bollocks display. Sadly missed Steve-o Funny to see the old shitty Brandish too
Don't know what all the fuss is about do this sort of ride most Sundays in sunny North Wales "JUST JOKING JUST JOKING" Balls of steel comes to mind and very very soft under clothing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
