TSUKIJI FISH MARKET 2023 is still worth visiting! JAPANESE street food for seafood lovers in Tokyo

Tsukiji market is synonymous with seafood! Despite no longer being the site of the wholesale fish market it remains one of the best places in Tokyo to explore if you love to eat. The Tsukiji outer market is packed with stalls and restaurants specialising in fresh seafood like sashimi, sushi, fresh oysters and other unique Japanese foods. We want to share with you some of the lesser known stalls- in particular a secret fish burger bar you MUST VISIT.
This 6 part Japan series focuses on Tokyo street food- we’ll share our favourite Japanese street foods and some of the best spots to find them.
NB: Most restaurants and stalls are closed on Wednesday and Sunday. To make the most of your time at the market we recommend visiting in the morning into the early afternoon.
What we ate and where we ate it:
Unagi skewer and unagi liver skewer 300 yen/ $2.30USD at Unagi Shokudo, Japan, 〒104-0045 Tokyo, Chuo City, Tsukiji, 4 Chome−13−18 場外市場内.

I'm glad to see that Tsukiji is still hopping. I would love to try everything, but once I got to the unagi stall, it would take 3 men and a boy to drag me away! I love it so much, I ordered a couple of whole, roasted ones to have at home. I've devoured one, but the next one I'll grill like they did at that stall. 2:37 for those that don't know; the eel served here is Ocean eel (anago). This is very different than Unagi (freshwater eel) which is often sold at "Kabayaki" which is a preparation method for the eel.

The green bits in the batter of Chikuwa is called "Ao-Nori" (literally meaning "blue seaweed"). We sprinkle aonori on Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki, and so on. It has a really beautiful aroma, different from the ordinary black nori which is used for sushi. The name of the food is "Chikuwa no isobe age" (Deep-fried Chikuwa with Aonori.) I hope you enjoyed Tokyo! By the way, I watched one of your videos about Borneo years ago, and visited "Top Spot" (the food court on top of the car park) and my family and I loved the seafood restaurant. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
