The disparity between Eric's calm demeanour and his unhinged aggression on the chess board is one of the great paradoxes of our time.

@@BobbyFischer0000 We all know Eric plays calm, positional chess OTB and when an online game calls for it. It's probably his natural style. But you can't deny some of his most famous content is playing pure barbarian chess ... he's been known to berserk and play Jerome.

Favorite game was definitely the "oops I dropped a piece" gambit opening followed by frantic play until "I'm up a pawn, how did that happen?"

I was yelling at the screen for how obvious it was. 2100 with 2 minutes on the clock doesn't see the queen on the same line as the rook for 20 seconds straight? Insane =D And then he lost everything. Having a minute at the end. Someone had a terrible day.

Always super happy when a new vid drops. You're like the most chill dude on KZread
Got lucky at 1:11:26 - Be6+ would have picked up your queen!
25:43 this game was insane. Forgetting that you’ve beserked with only :30 seconds left in an evenish position when he’s at 2:30… and then cleanly getting a win with almost all premoves.. great.

All this whole video proved to me is that Eric plays better without thinking than i ever would with hours to contemplate. Also: he unironically plays better when rushed.

I would say he plays more creatively than better. Because when he has time he plays more cautiously and doesn't take risks. When there is no time there is nothing to lose. :]

At 26:44 he missed Ng5 though, threatening to take the locked bishop and Black can’t take back with the king bc of the rook discovery, and Black’s rook on f8 is trapped. He could have had an endgame with a rook up rather than a pawn up.

I love seeing all these aggressive openings work out for Eric! Any time I try to play like this I end up gambiting my king ._.
Eric’s videos are the only thing on the internet that calms me down. Love this guy
Always a joy to watch! Win or lose, it's good stuff to study.
At 16:59 Eric said "I could have been in a lot of trouble there" as he was missing Qf7 mate. At the end of the game he must of read it "did I miss mate in one?" BUT he could have forced mate several times after it missing mate in two several times even as his opponent knew and was trying to get away from the mate in two sacrificing all his pieces for the life of his king. How noble.
Your videos are a big help to me. They calm me down in times of major stress. Thank you Eric ♥️.

Those games were crazy Eric great content. Well done on your win
So many iconic games, from the budapest knight gambit to the epic finale (that still counts in our hearts, Eric, even though it might not count for the tournament). Absolutely love these, they are so much fun!
Bravo ! Congrats on another great win !
At 1:11:26 isn't Eric's queen hanging, for several moves, if white's light-square bishop gives a check on E6 with a discovered attack from the rook?

My favorite game of course this hilarious knight sack for a modern budapest glorious impro!!! Thanks for the good content!

"knight chilling on h7" Man i dont know why but to me, when eric speaks or whatever chess position im looking at, it almost seems like its some knight speaking to me. he missed it, twice

It was honestly painful seeing him miss it twice. I felt sorry for white as being up a piece and a queen against a titled player even in blitz should be enough to win.
Always love a good Logitech Gambit
Add 2:56 Nxd4 looks strong for black too :)
Rough to offer a draw only to lose 11 points of material in the next couple seconds.

I like this gambit streams, but i would also like to see more insturctive only mainline streams. But idk if it is popular opinion.

Eric "It's crazy, I think i'll do that"
I wish I knew Eric in person. I know he would increase my chess game by proximity.
17:37 heart rate 999
every time an opponent refuses Eric's Stafford gambit despite it being an utterly bad position for black I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad. I guess it's great that his reputation precedes him and scares people into bad moves but it's sad that we don't get to see a wild Stafford game
Weird seeing Eric keep forgetting that he's berserking.
1:11:27 Wasn't that just a free queen for white with the move bishop e6?
At 1:11:50 why was bishop e6 not played? Wouldn’t white win blacks queen with a discovered attack? Or am I missing something.
Isn't rock g8 is a check mate 39:46
1:11:27 you hang your queen after Be6?? Block check or move and Rxh4… I saw it almost instantly when you moved the queen and I’m a 13 hundo
@sslvsme5763

Love you're not playing the old Stafford gambit
0:17 yeah it's not strange at all,him and some other masters join every arena and never play. I just hope lichess doesn't have anything to do with it.
At 58:52 why not g6 and qh7# or qh8#?? Why is f6 different from f5?

I'm seeing several strings of game results with multiple 0's in them. Because there's actually no penalty for losing a game (except the time wasted), what keeps someone from deliberately quickly losing to high-rated players and then stomping down on lower-rated players to quickly up their win points?
@keithrobben1183

The fact that it’s a losing strategy?
@josepherhardt164
Жыл бұрын
@@keithrobben1183 Based on the point totals to the right, it actually looks promising. In other words, if you play 5 hard, full games and get 33535 as a result, that's 19 points. If you apply the strategy to only play weak opponents, you might get 303000505003 in about the same amount of time and match your 19 points against those of an IM or GM.
@keithrobben1183
Жыл бұрын
@@josepherhardt164 the way people play more games is by beserking. Not by throwing away games. Since your not guaranteed to run into lower rated players. Just people with lower points. Ppl like Eric join tournaments late all the time. Plus, your throwing away rating by doing that, and giving more tournament points to those ahead of you (and they get them fast bc ur just instantly losing) meaning you’re not getting any Benefit there either
