Hey Toonz, congrats on the property! You should have a custom desk made from some of the historic wood for you office.
Like seeing Toonz try to be family friendly makes me chuckle

The editor was really on point at that part when the little "demonitized" symbol popped up as the censor, lmao. I laughed so hard.
As someone with a degree in history, I appreciate the work put into learning about the location. While we all love to preserve things like the ice house, and it's unfortunate that it had to come down for safety issues, it will live on in this video all because of you two. Thank you!!!
I'm really starting to look forward to these videos every Sunday now
You’ve been blowing me away with damn cinematography work
Damn....you sure Genay isn't a KZreadr already, I was really stuck and paying attention to the whole history. So cool..
would have been cool to turn that ice house into an outdoor kitchen bbq area., Could still do something like that with the old timbers and cedar you've acquired.
Genay is an absolutely amazing host!! Love the history behind this property. Makes it even more beautiful!
I've been genuinely enjoying this new channel b/c it's a look behind the curtain that we subscribers don't usually get to see. Also, the intro for this channel is a perfect representation of what's going to happen once everything is up & running haha.

The property is turning out so nice! Removing the ice house really opened up the view.

Yeah, as much as it sucked to get rid of, it really was the right choice. -L
Thank you Genay for the historical info. Its nice to hear about you and Luke's land more in depth. Love you guys
Makes me sad to see people who didnt take care of historical links to out past ways of life and having to see it be destroyed. So unfortunate. PS: Thanks for the history lesson! Some awesome info there.

Agreed from a fellow Gen Xer.
The guy running that skidsteer is very talented and smooth with what he's doing. Always a pleasure watching someone else in your field do something with such finesse. Yall found a good guy to do your work!
Reusing all this old wood from these teardowns can make some amazing accent materials for the new house if you decide to go there. Would be worth reaching out to a decent carpenter to build some cabinets out of some of that old wood, or a new set of fixtures for when the new house is built. New kitchen table, new fireplace, so on and so forth. The old stones would make a really nice fireplace if enough of it survived the demo. It depends on how much can be salvaged from all the things that get taken down, combined with other 'cleaned up' parts of the property. ALSO! If you plan to operate that CB antenna, you should study in public radio regulation, because you really don't want to accidentally get hit with pirate radio charges for operating a radio setup like that. Luckily, it's incredibly easy to get in touch with people who want to help on that front, and getting licensed is about as easy as the written driver test.
@acmeacres
Жыл бұрын
From that I've researched, there has been 0 prosecuted cases of operating without a license in the past 30 years, so I'm not super worried about it lol. Definately going to start to learn about it down the road! -L

@@acmeacres Make sure that you're safe about it, then. Not sure if CB lies anywhere near the legistlation on private radio operation. Might be perfectly fine. Also, you may decide to get a professional check the throughput on the radio line to look for heating issues. A lot of radio gear can get INCREDIBLY hot. Good luck!

@@acmeacres my cousin's used to do CB radio all the time when I was younger, they didn't have to have a license or anything but got one just in case. Def fun to look into though.

@@AdeptusCaeiusIII Yeah I'm not super into radio stuff, but from what I understand I think ham radio is the only one that's like heavily regulated/enforced/whatever nowadays. I know you have to have a license for ham radio stuff to be legal, but only if you're like actively transmitting/talking on your radio. Pretty sure you don't need a license to just listen to ham radio.
@AdeptusCaeiusIII
Жыл бұрын
@@kasper_429 Listening via radio is legal, regardless of what bandwidth you work with, but IIRC, there are bands that are designated of 'Emergency use', 'public use' and 'private use'. I THINK CB is in the domain of public radio operation eg: hobby radio, but the regulated bands can be achieved easily on accident if you don't look into the law of it. Seems Toonz is looking into it himself, so I imagine he'll be careful, but I wanted to make sure. The spooky radio people take pirate radio seriously, and they're VERY good at what they do.
Have a great day
Love the fact that you're keeping the antenna! Toonz preparing for Zombie apocalypse scenario 😁
I'm so invested in this series, loved hearing a little of the history as well.
So satisfying watching the workman do their jobs.
As someone who considers herself a historian, I was very sad to see the ice house go, but I totally understand the reasons for it. I'm so glad you looked into the history of the land! Most people would not have bothered, but I enjoyed hearing about it. I'm loving the progress y'all are making and I can't wait to see how everything progresses!
I'm excited to see what you have in store for the new house. I think it is great you are recycling a lot of the wood and stone for the new place.
I loved the dive into the history of the area, that was really cool.
Genay you did a fantastic job!! Was interesting hearing the story behind the land, congrats on keeping some original materials to keep some of that history going, whilst also adding yours. Toonz... It's great to see a different side to you so stay awesome dude, tell me Brad got a couple of beers for doing a great job! ✌️❤️
Toonz reminds me of my first year in industrial construction haha everything so cool and you can’t help but watch! Nowadays all I can think watching this channel is how much I want to help. Kinda cool to see such professional private land workers
An hour ago my nieces were playing with antique construction toys in the yard and now I get to see the real thing in action--amazing! I loved hearing about the history of the house and the land too. :)
This was fascinating! My house was built in '92 and for twenty years the previous owner made her 80+ year old father do all the yard work, general maintenance, etc and never lifted a finger for anything. So the house definitely needed some projects to fix all the disrepair. Quite the contrast to y'all's house! Can't wait to see more of what you do with it!
Thats really awesome about Cartoonz grandma and that Genay shares a birthday with the original builder. Very cool!
First time caller. Long time listener. The history is great. Looking forward
genays history lesson was great! glad to hear her talk to us more by herself too since luke is by himself often as well. side note : love the new thumbnails and “that’s all folks” is a great sign off, but i wish there was a catchy outro like cartoonz has. just seems to end too abruptly :(
Would love to see the river! Also congrats on everything you have accomplished..

Yeah they are gonna need that radio just in case anything like “The Quarry” happens.
I’m enjoying your videos. When you were talking briefly in the beginning that the ice house was built in 1800, I was praying to hear more historical facts about the property... I was not disappointed at. You’re girl friend did amazing job and I got chills about how all this went full circle. Many blessings to you both!
Luke and Genay thank you so much for sharing this journey with us I look forward to every video.
Thank you so much for providing the history of the property. So awesome to hear the story over time and it is such a nice transition to what you guys will do. So excited for you guys!!
I loved hearing the history of the house. Enjoying these videos every sunday. Good luck getting the house and land together. I'm looking forward to following your journey!!! Love from the UK.
I literally look forward to every Sunday! You and Genay are absolutely amazing people! I hope the best for you guys and can't wait to see the continuation!
Sundays are the highlight of my week now! Love laying down at night to a new acme acres video! ❤️
Loved learning the history, what a crazy thing that his grandma had actually attended one of the parties. What a beautiful journey, thanks for sharing.
When you are done, you should put in a koi pond to rival Dead Squirrels near the pool.
Thank you Mrs Toonz, well done! I love hearing about land history, so very happy you'll be keeping/reusing what you found on the land
I love Genay's voice I could listen to her talk all day ❤️
I am so excited to be apart of this journey with you and Genay. I can't wait to see this dream grow. I also can't wait to learn with both of you! Being a City Girl, the country and homesteading has always had a pull on me.
I can definitely say that work in the place is absolutely great. Your home will be a masterpiece when finished.
My dad had his own Bobcat tractor that he used for his fence building business. He was his only employee most the time so he put me to work when I was pretty young, like 9-10years old. It really sucked when it was super hot outside but he taught me how to drive the bobcat which was always my favorite thing to do. Its really easy, if a 10yo girl can do it, anyone can. Sometimes he would let me sit in the bucket and put me up real high and drive down the fence line which drove my mom crazy but when I see a bobcat tractor I get sentimental because I have a lot of good memories with my dad and his. It’s a really useful piece of equipment, there’s different attachments you can put on it like the bucket, an auger, forklift, which makes it really versatile. It’s definitely a good investment especially with the kind of land you guys are on and if you’re going to be continuing work on it. Might be cheaper to just get your own instead of hiring somebody to do more work.
As I have said in earlier videos, I LOVE following this, its a dream! Im so happy for both of you! really awesome to hear some history about it :) I think the ice house was the right call, dont want it to fall on you guys just from looking at it.
So envious of the property and the opportunity for adventures you have with it. Thanks for letting me live vicariously.
Very cool guys. I appreciate the research and work that Genay put into the history of the property. Well presented. Good luck in all your unknown upcoming adventures!
The history part at the end of the video was awesome! So neat to learn about the area's history. I live like 20 mins away from Eden, just over the border in Danville, VA, and it's so cool to be able to say that someone I watch on KZread that lives so close by, lol. I never would've thought that would be the case in our relatively small towns.
Genay I loved this so much. So relaxing and informative and your voice and tone and posture were just so inviting! Please do more!!!
Seeing yall develope and make this your own is amazing. Good for you and I look forward to seeing more. Side note, Genay, you are looking amazing in that dress. Toonz is a lucky man.
I know I am from the South East when I saw that hole, and thought to myself that I could repurpose it into a tornado shelter. Beautiful building, but sad to see it and history go, but I am also happy to see that some of its timbers can be repurposed into something! Love to hear the history of this land!
i love the litlle history lesson
Loved Genay's breakdown of the history property very well spoken. Hope you guys get everything and more that you want with you new home. ✌❤
I'm so happy for you. You are going to enjoy years of living your best life as you work on your home. Don't focus too much on KZread content and rush through the best moments in life.
Can't wait for this home to be done and meeting JIHI!!!!
Thanks for some of the history. I’m really excited to see what’s next!
I just wanted to say as a kid now 20 year old growing up in Browns Summit it is so amazing to know that one of the best KZreadrs grew up in the same state as me. Yall are such an amazing couple and I'm so happy to see how much this new channel of yalls is growing. Love the video's so much. Yalls video's make my days all that better. Keep up the great work yall!!
Genay did so well! I love learning bits of history oml
So glad I found this channel! ❤
Woots! looks like you're making great progress, I can't wait to see what's in store for the lumber that was kept. Please make sure that you guys are taking care of yourselves, today's heat index was like 104 where I am and we're relatively close to the ocean. Would hate seeing a message of "well guys, we kinda over did it when we *insert action here* so now we have to take it easy for a couple weeks.
Pointers are the best! My Pointer is a perfect rural doggie, she loves the all the open space outdoors
It is awesome to see how things are coming together. And the history of the land is very interesting. I would if I were you put the wood up in the kitchen as counters or butcher counters. They look really nice.
That is awesome i love hearing history like this it's awesome you guys are trying to save it and show the history
Start thinking about what stone pathways you want, fruit and flowering trees you may want. Plus, a gardening space for herbs and vegies, grape vines, kiwi, lemons etc... You need a cool patio area for the BBQ, table and bar area (cedar wood, hint, hint), outdoor lighting... Take your time and plan for permanence, shade, esthetic value and functionality. Keep in mind, the old ways are usually better than the new ways.
I love the prep/prepared talk and cb I've been wanting to learn about it too
love this channel , and the vibes i get watching . keep on keeping , and stay safe and positive
This is sooo cool! Your property is getting nicer and nicer each video!

Genay thank you for the history of the land. It totally sucks that you couldn't save the ice house. Can't wait until next week's video to see what happens next.
I'm really enjoying this channel and Genay no wonder you have a podcast you just seem like a natural speaker I will be checking out the podcast as well.
Keep these videos rolling.

I can’t wait to see what else happens
Shut. Up. GENAYYYYYY YOU ANGEL QUEEN 😭 That research segment?! Chef's kiss 🤌🏻 I'm a sucker for historical homes, so thank you for sharing the history of yours! ♡♡♡♡
Basically the clank you heard was him engaging the PTO to the hydrologic pump to raise the bed. If you hear a vibrating noise from the dump truck. They are loosening up the dirt in the bed to make it easier to dump. If they wouldn't vibrated the bed the dirt would have enough friction from the drive to keep it from dumping out of the bed. If the truck extends all the way and It doesn't dump the truck can't lower the bed because of the weight, but if that happens he/she can vibrat the bed to try to loosening the grip of the dirt. Dump truck are real cool machines and can do more then alot of people think.
Yay new video always been a cartoon/Luke fan and now I am a Genay stan too 😁 hope everything works out for you guys you all are lovely YOU TWO = POWER COUPLE 💪💪
Hey Luke, you're really close with it being a CB radio. It's a HAM radio. Has way more range to pick up and speak with others all over the world. My grandfather had to get his license to be able to speak on certain frequencies. Not sure how it totally works but he's told me stories of a conversation with a guy from some part of Europe. That tower I had to actually help him get it standing up in the area he wanted it at. Really cool stuff
Great history lesson 👏 👍
