I absolutely love your content. You are the only artist I really notice has the same weird "ugly phase" as I do, and it's so discouraging never seeing that anywhere usually. You keep pushing and it always turns out so gorgeous, this gives me the strength I need to push through my own weird phases

@@kitty-gf2wd It's not insulting its facts. i'm a digital artist and there's always a, by we call it, 'ugly phase' where the drawing is colored but it just doesn't look right, or it's not rendered yet. Same thing with sketches, when you have sketched the features but it just doesn't resemble who you're drawing!

@@kitty-gf2wd I thought that as I wrote it, but there's just no way to talk around what I really meant! all artists know the ugly phase, it's not a description of the artists skill, it's simply a part of the process that so many artists just cut out and pretend it never happened. I'm glad she includes it because it makes us feel less like it's a weird thing, and her end results always turn out so great! it's motivational, to see the ugly phase, her stick through it and then the finished piece that is absolutely gorgeous

A big tip: when you're trying to paint skin tones and gouache in general, its easier to go mid tones, then shadows, then highlights

I play roblox and I used to have my avatar as wednesday (spent 250 robux on it, may not seem a lot to others but it was to me) and I got bullied for it (called emo, ugly, etc) so I changed it and this portrait made me have enough courage to change it back. Tysm! ❤ Edit: I also love the painting!!
