my guy- I bailed on a castleton route just five days ago and haven’t climbed since because my ego was BEAT. do I believe this video was made for me? yes, actually. my headspace wasn’t there + I definitely think this tower is used to startling first-timers. stoked to go back after watching this vid. thanks for being open & honest, in addition to sharing the highlights. rock on!!!

Wonderful! Just completed my first 5.10 and went to do the route next to it which is steep and a very hard but graded easy 5.7. I fell on the 5.7 which I haven’t fallen on since I started climbing last year. I found myself forgetting the way up, Almost like I traded all my brain power to do the 5.10 beta and the 5.7/5.9 was still the route that humbled me the most this weekend. I love climbing as much as I love jiu jitsu and look forward to the day I can get on a multi pitch tower and climb with some great people! Thanks for the humbling vid guys!

Yup, that tower tuned us around too. We hiked up the day before to scope the route out and then went back the next day and got psyched out. We were hoping to get on the Kor Ingalls route

Fantastic lesson. Turning back before you run out of options to turn back. Maybe you didn't have the best plan. But you learned a lot really fast, had some fun, and you had the guts, brains, ego to make a good decision. Great vid. Climb high!

You had a faulty plan, not faulty climbing skills and underestimated the difficulty. A team to help you to the approach to carry part or all your gear. Overnight at the base to rest and hydrate and then a crack of down start. Don’t forget piss poor planning leads to piss poor results

Good video. Did that route over 30 yrs ago. The 2nd and 3rd pitch are no gimmes. I was so wiped from doing the first pitch, I had to have my partner lead the next two. Pitches. Next time, forget the sleeping bags. Now you have a goal that will keep you motivated to train and improve. That’s what climbing is all about. Good luck.
