Trying The Chris Melling Swerve Shot [Part 2 of 3] | Your Average Pool Player
Спорт
The 2017 Chris Melling runout was an honest-to-god viral pool video, and it's easy to see why. In this video I take on the second shot: the full table swerve (or massé) shot. This kind of shot requires a pretty stable hand and a deft hit, and I run into problems when i can't really get much of a backswing. Please enjoy the twists and turns I experienced on the way to the conclusion. If you enjoy these videos or have a suggestion for a shot, leave a comment below and I'll try to do it. This one is a little longer, so if that's the kind of thing you want, good. If you don't want that ... sorry 'bout it.

@KAMUIBRAND

Sorry it took me so long.
Two things that made you take so long to get this shot right, 1) the mass of the cue, and 2) the table cloth! Heavy cue => Low acceleration but high kinetic energy and high momentum imparted, Light cue => High acceleration and very high energy but low momentum. And then cloth can have its own effects. But seriously, very good effort that. I would have quit after 5th try. Thanks for the awesome video!
Nice job Keep making These Videos
Great vid!

Amazing you achieved it without a massé stick man! Respect
I absolutely love these videos and its a great idea for when i wana play but cant find any1 to play with One thing i relized when i was a kid playing is pool is not like a bicyle if u dont keep playing u loose ur skill fast except the small percentage with amazing cordination that are naturals
5:10 girl thinks "What the hell are you doing?"
this is great!
God this is a great video!
The cue ball floats over the cloth for a different distance based on how hard you hit it, which is why the spin redirects sooner the slower or softer you take the shot. It's also the reason why the forward direction of the ball doesn't disturb the imparted spin due to friction - Simonis 860 is also a very slick surface which helps Florian's full table boomerang wizardry. Massé shots take a lot of practice to do them consistently, and even a slight variation on your cue tip impact point and cue angle will drastically change the shot outcome - 31 attempts and you got roughly 1/4 of the shot correct. Impact point, speed, spin, and final positioning were off. Spend another 20 hours on nothing but this shot will get you closer.
Love the intro !
Hey Rollie, have you haver considered recreate some snooker shots? (Not pool, I mean). I'm a huge fan, always waiting for your videos. Thank's!
I see a new part, I like.
you are a great guy.
The self-loathing commentary on missed shots just hits me different. These are the things I think every league night when I miss a shot and I wonder what idiot decided this was a good hobby to take up. Great videos and series!
Brazil here. Best série
I love the videos. I try them at home. And I’m no where as good or as lucky as you. 59 tries to get this one. Lol. Keep them coming.

Even funnier was when Johnny Archer said "I might kill myself if someone made that on me."
Well done
I haven't touched a queue in 20 or so years, but you make me think...
Greatest average pool player of all time!
It would be really nice if you can start doing another series (after you finish this one) about everything you've ever learned about pool (and what you haven't yet learned) and explain all the terms used and techniques etc. from begginer to proffesional. Because i can't seem to find any pool videos that explain better than you do
@KAMUIBRAND
5 жыл бұрын
Hey Stan, good suggestion, I think I'll do that. It may take a few more videos to get there though.
I like pool and snooker or billiards. The physics, the geometry, the tact. It just begs to be mastered. But I haven't been able to play it.
Alright, I got this. This is gonna sound reeeeeal crazy Rollie, but. As someone who loves messing with masse shots, I think I gotchu as far as trying to be more consistent. The Coriolis aiming method does do wonders for those analytical players who bring a protractor to the table with them, however at the end of the day, it is all about feel. Bowling with hook actually has a striking similarity to performing masse shots because you still need the same 3 basic principles. Projection, Speed, and Angle. All of these things contribute to getting a strike when you throw a ball, and you have to wait for the dry part of the lane to come to impart the friction to the ball for the spin to take place, just like how you're waiting for the cloth to counter your momentum. So at the end of the day, it's all about feel. Just like Henry Winkler said on The Waterboy, "visualize, then attack." Good stuff bro, love these vids.
@mlucas7837
5 жыл бұрын
Garry Callis yes very true. And in tournaments you would have to practice at least a few minutes beforehand to get the feel of the table. Some halls don't let you massè because it puts a ding on the table if you're not that good. I used to try to teach my friends and would have to wait for the employee to go in the back or risk getting kicked out.
Great take at a great shot. Doing it in less than a 100 times is quite a feat.
loving it
