Trying TEXTURED PAINTINGS // Abstract Flowers & an Ocean Wave 🌊
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Watch me try TEXTURED PAINTINGS with acrylic paints & texture paste for the first time! I created three unique pieces of art, which include colorful abstract flowers, modern color blocking stripes with shimmery mica powder, and a huge ocean tidal wave. The floral painting was inspired by the style of Amy Lockwood Art & @sherivegasartist (Sheri Vegas). Let's create relaxing 3D texture artwork with a palette knife, modeling paste, & acrylic paint. Which painting is your favorite? #SoCraftastic

This was so much fun to watch! We don't think there's any such thing as wasting paint (except maybe letting it dry out in storage). As long as you are deriving something positive from the experience, it's never a waste! Just the act of painting and drawing can be therapeutic and a great way to practice self-care. We do think it's good for people new to art to try some better quality paints, because the experience is so much better and the results look great. We love what you did here!
You look so great. Lately your content is so bubbly and positive. I teach Art and your last 2 videos have inspired me to add a couple of ideas to the student choice list. Keep up the great work!
Just remember Craftastic : That there are no mistakes in art , only happy mishaps!
I’ve been watching you since a was a little girl. You are a huge factor in my love for all crafts 💜 I love you and your videos!
I love the sunset wave painting!! 🌅 Would love to see more sunrise/sunset work!! Learning to do that right is a struggle! I thought the flower painting was cool, groovy even. 😎 Have you tried the thickened paint in frosting tubes with tips? I think you might find them fun and relaxing. 🤗
I also love mixed media art, it's very fun if anyone hasn't tried mixed media I encourage u to try it at least once.i absolutely LOVE the wave painting so much!
I totally get the paint thing (I have a whole box of stickers I was afraid to "waste" as a kid 😅) Glad to see you putting them to good use! I love this style of painting - I think the wave was my favorite! 💜
i LOVE the flowers!! i totally have had that "this is not as easy as it looks" experience Many a time.. lol. i also love the stripe and wave paintings!! the wave looks so 3D!!
I love how the wave turned out!!
The wave is STUNNING!
I’m so happy to see more video’s of you, and seeing your artsy spark back. Of stored right you can keep acrylic paint for a long time. Last year I started to use my 20 y old stash of Amsterdam paints. Love the artwork you made with them, the waves are so pretty with the foam.
I enjoyed this video so much. Texture painting looks like lots of fun to do and a really versatile technique to use.
Looks great 😊 thank you so much for sharing

If you want it to be a bit thicker. You can add some texture paste/ fine gap filler or even a tiny bit of sand to give it more grit.
1am in Liverpool watching Socraftastic 😊

Thank you for coming to watch! 😊
This video looked like so much fun! I just did a textured painting for my son. It was my first time too. I felt like I had to add soooo much of the attative. My son loved it! I like the little stripped painting, adorable 😍
I love your flowers. They are so pretty
I think they all turned out great!!
Hay sweet ur flower 1 is my favourite as u pushed thru n still finished a lovely bright art piece...
You are such a creative artist
I like the wave and the smaller one.
I love them all 💜💜💜💜
Hey Sarah! You inspired me to get a reverse colouring book! Love your content! 👍🏻💜😊
The wave is my favorite
I love using texture in my paintings. If you want to be able to make it thicker and give more form to your paint, I would get a thicker texture paste. Some shrink A LOT when they dry. Try an “extra heavy” version.
My favorite is the wave.🙂
I ❤ the wave
Hullo Sarah, I enjoyed this video! well done! I have had troubles in the past with paints sticking to un-primed wood. You can tint your gesso with acrylic paints so you might mix your color in with the gesso to ready the wood panels before painting. I hope you do not have the problems of pealing that I did! I have a huge piece of watercolor paper that is destined for a huge wave watercolor painting, I do hope mine looks as lovely as yours! It will not be as textured, but I hope interesting! You stay safe and have yourself a lovely day! See ya next video!
love all 3 but my favorite is the ocean wave. Could you make it into a art print on your shop?
I think maybe u should try using more of a molding paste for the flower petals, just an idea. Love the vid
I wish I could teach you some little tips in real life. One big tip, you need more modeling paste ! And another bigger one … use joint compound for walls found in hard ware stores. That’s way cheaper than a little bottle of modeling paste & works the same.
The flower painting is my favourite 🌸
My mom is a painter and she loves using modeling paste in her paintings, she does mostly abstract art.
My favorite was the wave. By the way, watching you from Honduras.
Remember enjoy the process and experiment. ❤️ 13:02 the wave just pops off the canvas!!
I’ve been wanting to try this also but after seeing how you struggled I’m scared lol.but I’m still gonna try it cause it still looked fun.And I love the sunset wave painting your colors are so bright and pretty and it came out looking great.
Johnson City Tennessee ♥️

Thank you for coming to watch! ❤ Tennessee is beautiful, but I believe Gatlinburg is the only city I've ever visited there.
Cool 😃
I liked the flower painting that you did.
I really liked the wave! I also love mixed media. Great job on all of the texture paintings! I want to try it too!
There must be something they add to get the flowers more dimensional. Only if they show you what is added. Ill have to look it up and see. Its hard to say what picture i like better. I do like the stripes and the wave. Theres another type of acrylic painting. Its called 1 stroke acrylic painting. You may want to look that up and see if you want to try that. You can do flowers and butterflies with it as well as leaves, grass etc.
The wave is my fave 😉 Looked the most enjoyable to paint too. I know what you mean about not feeling good enough to use more expensive art items. I have a lovely NerdForge sketch book I haven't touched (about a year old) and still use my $2 books 😬.
I definitely love the ocean 💙 wave. I call my small gaming community the wave 🌊 lol. I think the technique is cool gives a 3D clay texture vibe. I'd love to see what other are you create with this
Good work ....
the "peanut butter! mmm! don't eat this though" comment had me laughing! 🥜🥜🥜
I've never done this type of painting but something that sticks out to me is you seem to be scraping the paint up on the top of the palette knife, but I feel like you should turn the knife over and scrap it up on the back side of the knife so you can then turn it right side up and your paint will be on the bottom of the knife when you push it into the canvas hopefully leaving more paint and more texture.

Ik that triggers my anxiety so much

@@mollyomoo well it wasn't bothering me. I just thought maybe it would help. I did see however later she was using the bottom to scoop up the paint but it still didnt help. I went to check out the people she mentioned and the difference is their paint is MUCH MUCH thicker!!!! That's the only problem.
Also don’t press the palette knife straight down and up. That’s giving the weird texture. Try more like swiping it to the side or rolling it off the side of the knife.
👋HI I USE WOOD GLUE WITH ALL MY ART WORK, " IT'S AMAZING",👋
What brushes are you using?
Omg I haven't seen her in a very long time but I wonder why her video has so many cuts
I don't think you were getting the results you were looking for with the flower pedals because you're not dipping the pallet knife into a big enough lump of paint so there's not enough paint on the tool.
Not her paints being the same age as me
