Trying something new on the 3" freestyle quad! | GNB LiHV High Voltage LiPo Battery Pack Review

Ғылым және технология

Fingers crossed these packs treat me well... Bought ten of them! Not a lot of information out there on high voltage (4.35v) lithium polymer batteries so decided to go all in and try these GNB packs (GNB6504S120AHV) out myself. This is not a sponsored video. :(

Hi man, great vid! I am about to buy some 650 packs and I ran exactly into this dilemma! How is longevity on the GNB? I use the 650 RLines which have been so far amazing, but I was wondering if the GNB's are good in longevity. I do take care of my packs :). I liked and subscribed!

Hey. The GNB packs are still working well. I've stopped flying the Tattu packs now as a result unless I need extra packs for a really long flying session. Stay tuned for a video on the GNB 6s 530 packs. Welcome to the channel!

I have had one GNB come to me with DOA cells - my experience with the GNB HV batteries is generally high resistance and early sag (I have owned about a dozen or so) - ok for low draw but not great for freestyle burns, can be a decent value if you dont abuse them

Isn''t LiHV supposed to be 3.8V minimum (idle) compared to 3.7V LiPo? Not sure about that, but it would mean to stop sooner with LiHV and probably have about the same flight time, still with the benefit of a lighter pack.

I thought the minimums were the same. I remember doing research a while ago and finding this information. I've been flying it like this myself at least.

Minimum should be same as far as companies have said but they say storage charge to 3.85v vs lipo 3.8v. You can run them lower

That would be an interesting combination. I think you'd need a fairly low KV 1404 motor though. The Xing/Xing2 that I use only come in 4600kv and 3800kv, both of which I'd think would be too high for a 6s setup.

I have a tough time believing these stats. The RDQ 850mah (non-HV) pack is over 100grams. How can they make a HV pack this light? Not saying this applies to RDQ but I did read that some manufacturers provide a misleading mah rating on HV packs.

  • @kratzeni

Well the weight difference is basically just because you have basically a smaller pack of like 575 mah Battery that is sold as a 650 by putting in some additives and writing HV on it. In reality the additives dont help much and 4.35V is still an overcharge. THerefor the lifetime of these packs is significantly reduced. On top of that, GNB is in my experience just making up these C rating numbers. So Tattu R-Line any day

I did some research when looking at these packs initially and couldn’t find any definitive answers. Some folks indicated that the hv packs use a different cell chemistry and are not simply over charged regular cells.
