💡 the price for grinding disc's & ARC welding sticks are now GOING ⬆️ DARN, now it'll co$t a fortune 💰 to do any DIY repairs.
Excellent work done. Saved enough to go back to work on Lt. Dan & finish him to go to work.
I can see Lt.Dan waiting patiently and drumming his fingers on the deck, praying someone will soon begin finishing the job started Loooong Ago!....LoL Those bushings and pins would go in soo much easier if they were put in a freezer overnight. Just a thought.

Been waiting on this as well!!
You guys handled that nicely. Only detailed thing I would have done differently is I would have coated the bushings with a smear of regular grease before driving them in. These bushings were thick walled enough (and steel) to stand up to the beating you gave them without distorting, but less robust (or bronze) bushings could have suffered some distortion. A little bit of lubrication before driving home is always a good thing.

I wonder if placing the bushings in the freezer overnight would make the insertion easier. I watched another KZreadr use liquid nitrogen to shrink some bushings for a D11 dozer to easily insert them.
You two crack me up, but you guys always get it done. Great video, love watching.

AARON TOLD ME THAT YOU REALLY NEED A WELDING TABLE
That was just awesome guys what makes it good is your sense of humour having a bit of fun on a tough job .. And saved yourself a bucket of money... Can't ca get any better than that.. God bless ya guys..
Glad to see Master Welder Aaron is back in the house.
I would doubt any of the manufactures use stick anywhere, it's a production setting. The use of proper technique will yield as strong as or stronger welds with mig. They use a 71M outershield wire, not to be confused with intershield wire, but does produce a slag covering. Also the shielding gas is a 75/25 CO2/Argon or even a straight 100% CO2, the CO2 makes it dig deep. Get Arron a roll of the 71M wire to try, it goes down like butter, he'll love it. Nice fix, hope it holds up for you guys.

Look up dual shield welding wire. It gets you into spray transfer with conventional argon/CO2 gas. And can be welding in all positions except down. It's super fast travel speed and amazing penetration... If your wire welder can go up to 28 to 34 Volts you can hit about 350 amps. It's my favorite wire for anything 1/2-1 inch plate. Try it out and you'll become a believer in mig welding is better for everything when you're out of the wind. Good luck.
Great job guys👍. $5,000.00 for Aron and $5,000.00 for DP🤓
I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while now I love the way you and your friends work together with humor and respect it makes me miss my childhood friends keep up the good work God bless you family and friends

Great job guys, for those bushings. Head to your local welding supplier and see if they can get you a small container of liquid nitrogen. It will shrink them up a few thousands. They slide right in. We do it all the time.
Great vid it is nice to see someone save big bucks by DIYing. These days it seems that getting the newest machine you can still work on is better than a new machine you have to pay someone else to work on.
What a pleasure to watch two "professional mechanics, etc." I've got to watch more of MBtS's welding skills.
Nice to see a complete project in one video. Good video.

I was waiting for the "CRUNCH" when turning the 140 back to the shop.
I started having a machine shop make pins that are threaded for a large nut to hold everything tightly together. It didn't cost any more than the factory pins.
This is actually one of the video's that I was smiling the whole way through, as usual great job guys!!

I had to smile a bit, MBTS extolling the virtues of stick welding; how much stronger etc roll forward a few months tile plough. All welding done with MIG. Interesting video. Just shows how a good welder can save $$$$
🤣 Y’all are like an old married couple …y’all work so well together and always entertaining! Great teamwork! 👏

Thank you. Better then new.
Any video with MBTS is a good one!!!! Great job guys 👏👍
Mig welding can as strong as stick welding, it depends on the person running the welder and the preperation that went into the metal before the weld. Aaron is correct about them not beveling it and that's why it failed.
That pin driver is so much safer than a straight bar. Back in ‘85 I was working in a spring shop for my Highschool co-op class and we did a lot of walking beam suspension bushing replacements. One time the owner was swinging the sledgehammer and I was holding the bar to drive some pins out keeping my eyes on the bar to keep it on the pin. He glanced off the end of the bar with a swing and I felt the sledgehammer go through my hair. It freaked the owner out a lot, most likely because he saw it when I only felt it. Your pin driver keeps the other person well out of striking distance.
The two of you did a fantastic job and had fun. I enjoyed this video

MBSTS is great asset to your team.
Im surprised the bushings went in that easy. Usually need to stick them in the freezer to shrink it a little bit. Glad it worked out
Mister Mike, A veritable PLDTHERA of congratulatory wishes for just a super vlog! Wow; you pretty much covered all the bases possible except for enlisting Mrs. DP and Miss M., any dogs on the homestead or Mr. Jerry in the cab. To me the investigation you did and explained so well was just excellent, and showing just what a continuous BITE IN THE BUTT being the owner/operator of a small to medium business with machinery can be when stuff is down with problems hiding more problems and parts are days away. This should be a mandatory class for anyone In blind rapture of being a sole owner intent of surviving in the real world. Great work, great editing and a big thanks for taking time you didn't have while sweltering to content The dots and demonstrate that guys like you have Goya REALLY WANT TO, even on weekends and in crap weather. You rock.
At least VOLVO welded the two nameplates on really well on the sides of the broken parts!
..saving money is good...lol..keep safe..
Great job on the coupler. Always entertaining and interesting to watch. The Timelapse’s are great. “Almost” MBTS cracks me up. Great to hear you bouncing off each other. Thank for posting. 🇬🇧👍

It’s so cute when he tries to make his voice sound deep. Awwwww. Poor wittle finggggg.
I have seen this happen from time to time on larger machines. 349 cat had this happen. It had a 4 yard bucket on it and had too much slop between stick and coupler. So it would slide hammer the coupler when swinging with a fully heaped bucket. Eventually kept beating the coupler and breaking the welds like yours. Good luck! And keep up the good work.
from the Netherlands thanks for the video DP and Aaron

Your videos are really entertaining. I enjoy watching them more the TV, I've never worked on Heavy equipment, but I did work on jet engines and aircraft. When we were rebuilding an engine and we had bushings to install we would put them in the freezer for a few hours and they were much easier to install . Also when you are pulling a busing if you wold heat up the metal around the outside of the bushing it will come out a lot easier instead of heating up the bushing it self.

Little trick we used to do at hitachi was to stick the bushes in the freezer for a hr or over night makes them so much easier to get in great work
You should patent the pin removal tool and the bushings tool.
Monkey Behind The Scenes is a grate helper.
You two remind me of the cartoon caracters Heckel & Jeckel the Crows. Back and forth, your a riot! LOL

Well done , nothing like combining the best ideas of several machines. If it works well why not use it anyplace possible. Liked the ratcheting binder trick. Have many times used nuts and threaded rod for moving yoke type applications but never a binder 👍. Enjoyed the content. 🇺🇸🦅🌏⚓️🇺🇸

Driving those pins in is like that Whack-a-mole game !
Yea that coupler is like a pipe if it still has a bottom it’s fixable and useable why replace next time put those bushings on dry ice they will fall into place without driving the in 💪👍

Dry ice: same thought as you. Oughta be able to get thru Derby Mkt. CEE in Australia uses liquid nitrogen; heats the housing and freezes the bushing and slips them in by hand!
