Love Dollar Tree! My hack for puzzles that have posters if they have 8x10 posters included, I bought a 8x10 acrylic picture frame that the poster can slide in and out of. Thanks for trying these hacks 😀

Aw! Your Loki reminds me of my Crash. He's my grumpy old man now, so I don't have much issues puzzling with him now, but in his hey-day, he ruined a couple puzzles before I figured out that I needed to store pieces in a box/cover my puzzle in progress when I wasn't working on it. Lids are great to protect your pieces over night! I had hopes for that bi-fold cardboard because being able to close the flaps would be helpful, but too small for most of the puzzles I put together! Thanks for sharing!

I have a larger project board (cardboard) from Staples and it fits puzzles very nicely with lots of room for the pieces while you do it, and it doesn't have the problem of the flaps not laying flat, which I had never considered could possibly be a problem. It does get tight on space sometimes if I need to put it away in the middle of doing a puzzle that has small sections precariously placed that I'd rather not move to accommodate piles of pieces, since at the moment I only have space to store it closed. But usually it's not a problem to get it all into the middle section, or I can put some piles in box lids and such.

Oooohhh! I love the cutting mat to scoop up the pieces. I put mine into ziploc bags when Im done so this would be super helpful since it’s so flexible.

Great video, Emilee. First off, I love and appreciate how you work with Loki and Oliver's inate catness and find solutions that make both you and them happy. Lots of good ideas. I like the idea of lining the trays, excellent idea. Great deal on the foamboard. I'm going to check out my local dollar tree for trays, liner and foamboard. That big black scoop looks like it would be best suited for litter box use ...ha ha.

Great video, gave us a lot of ideas. For puzzle dust we use a colander and shake the dust off. Works with Ravensburger a treat👍. Thank you for all your videos interviews and just plain hard work editing them etc. Warm wishes from Oz. M+C

I haven't seen foamboard at my local dollar store yet, but now I know to look for it there. I've used sheet pans as sorting trays before. Rather than the rubber mats (which I currently use underneath my cutting board in my kitchen, and in small cut pieces as grip helpers when opening jars), I've used shelf paper to help reduce the slipperiness. The shelf paper also lets me pick the color that I use for contrast. I usually get my sheet pans at thrift stores; the disadvantage there is that they're not all exactly the same size.

It comes and goes for me too.

I bought a 6qt colander just to sift out puzzle dust. It's from the brand GoodCook, it's avocado green, and was only $3.99. I love that thing! The holes are big, but not too big. I call it my Puzzle Colander. LOL! I also recycled six "Glad Ware" bowls that Hillshire Farms 11/12 oz lunch meat came in for a type of presort bowl. Then there's the handy-dandy foam board that I cut into a 30"x24" for my puzzle board.

First of all, I canNOT believe you just did a video on this. I was JUST at Dollar Tree doing the same thing!!!! I loved the cookie sheets at first, but then I realized the ones at my dollar tree did not lay flat. They were all warped so I passed on them. However I did pick up two of the foam boards because they are a fantastic price!!!! I have gotten foam boards from Hobby Lobby on sale, esp their bigger board for White Mountain puzzles. They just seem to be just a little bit bigger than the average 1000pc. And agreed with you on the puzzles just fitting on the boards. I did an Aimee Stewart Breakfast in Bed that FITS. But I also lay it on a table so I can always move things around. As far as those tri fold project boards, they can be different sizes. The ones at dollar tree and walmart and a decent price but they are too small. The ones at Office depot are the good size but pricey. I have bought two over the years from JoAnn's with a coupon. The interior board is 24x36 which works GREAT with puzzles. I end up cutting off the extra parts along the fold so I just have the middle piece to work with. Great video!

OH, I wonder if you could stack the grill pan on top of the cookie sheet, do a really good shimmy-shake, and the cookie sheet underneath would catch the puzzle dust. Would there be a big enough gap in between the pans to allow for the dust to fall through?

Great ideas! I will be looking for foam board, cookie sheets and liner for my puzzling needs.

Great video & loved your innovated ideas! I’ve used the Dollar Tree trifold cardboard project board which is 39.25x27.25 with a Ravensburger 31.25x23.5 puzzle so the Karen Puzzles puzzle 27x19 should fit on the board. The puzzle needed to be placed the other way, with the length not width of the board. 🤭 Puzzling with the flaps was not the greatest. I’ve never seen a foam board at my Dollar Tree only a poster board that’s not foam. I bought a trifold project foam board at Walgreens one 28x22 & a 28x44 but these are hard to find there. I’m working on a White Mountain puzzle 24x30 & I’m using the 28x44 trifold foam board but I had to fold one flap behind the board because it’s too huge for my small round dinning room table. The trifold foam board is a better quality & the flaps stay flat on the table. I got rid the cardboard trifold from Dollar Tree once I found the foam boards.

If I had rotated the puzzle the flaps wouldn’t have stayed down so the puzzle would fold in. I think using other trifolds would work if they were slightly larger and I know some lie flat.

I think the sheet that catches the puzzle dust is unnecessary. You can just shake the puzzle over the box.😅 Everything else is awesome.

True. It wasn’t originally my intention to use it but really are any of these necessary? Fun to have though!

I use a 6" wire easel display stand. 6" is the height of the stand. It won't work for the lid only, but it is just right for the lid and the box together. No empty box for the kitty to sit in though! I always enjoy your videos and you have some great tips in this one.

My Dollar Tree puzzle accessories are: Poster and foam boards, gift boxes and cooking sheets for sorting and colander to shift out puzzle dust. For puzzle scoops, I use junk mail postcards, brochures and flyers (with elections coming up there will be plenty to chose from). I don't use a box stand, I just sit the box up and/or use the poster if has one. FYI: Those flexible cutting boards are great for lining the refrigerator shelves. They're easy to clean and if there's a spill you only have to wash off one shelf!

Great video on puzzle accessories! Loved it! 💖 My thoughts on Puzzle Accessories.... For the metal stand, does bending it and using a smaller box make any difference? With foam boards, I agree, the Dollar Tree foam boards are a great option and are the best price in my area. They have been my go-to boards for years. The cardboard tri-folds NEVER worked for me, so for my larger puzzles I use Foam Board Tri-Folds (often walmart has them for the best price, especially around back-to-school season). The Foam Board tri-folds DO WORK and can be folded to lay flat helping protect the puzzle when needed (yes I do need to rotate the puzzle to fold things up, but it moves so well on the foam board tri-fold that it's not a problem for me). I use office clips to secure the flaps for storing a puzzle. Depending on if I have lose pieces or how long I will store the puzzle I won't hold back on how many office clips I will put around it, just to be better safe than sorry. I have considered wanting to try plastic slide binder bars for securing the flaps, but haven't gotten to the idea yet (some places sell them for different thicknesses, the right size might fit my folded flaps). I have wanted to try thin plastic cutting boards or place-mats for moving puzzle pieces, wasn't sure on their texture and I would like to know, how well do they cut-up into smaller sizes? Do they get too sharp? I currently sometimes use card-stock for moving sections but I also have thin plastic cards that came with puzzle trays and have absolutely loved them, they work better than the card-stock. Was hoping to replicate what came with the puzzle trays by cutting thin plastic sheets into preferred sizes. Anyways, thanks for the video, I always like the topic of puzzle accessories or tips n tricks. 🙂

That purple one that is on Amazon is $20ish. It is OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced. So, I 3d print them. Yes, you need to have a 3d printer, but it's a hobby that comes in handy for my other hobbies, so I LOVE it when I need something and I can just make it myself. The filament to make the puzzle box lid stand probably ends up like 25 cents or something plus the electricity to run the machine. Even if I didn't 3d print, I'd figure something else out because $20 for that piece of plastic is a rip-off, imo. I also found a free file for a spatula but haven't gotten to test it out much. The handle prints separately because there are two sizes of spatula (when I did it, I needed it quickly and I could only print 2 of the 3 parts) and it's great. So maybe make friends with someone who 3d prints, haha.
