Trying Indomie 🇮🇩 | Indonesian Internet Noodles in New York
I traveled to Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan to try Indonesian Foods for the first time. Watch me react to Indomie Goreng (mi goreng instant noodles). This is me trying Indomie for the first time, trying internet noodles was super fun. I also try Teh Botol (the popular Indonesian tea drink). Finally I try tick tac (the Indonesian snack). This was cheap Indonesian food in NYC and delicious, go check it out!

I love Indomie. Even before watching this video, I've already planned a trip to the grocer to get me 3 packs of those. I usually add ham, egg and a few veggies. Then partner it with a slice of bread. Ultimate comfort food.

@@unculturedtravel just gather any meat you have in your fridge. If you have ham, slice 'em up into 1 inch squares or if you have chicken or ground pork or beef. Whatever. Just Sautee in a pan first then next throw in minced garlic and onion, carrots maybe and cabbage. You need to season these ingredients with a bit of oyster sauce, a bit of soy sauce and some hot sauce. Next you toss in the pre-boiled noodles, sprinkle a bit of sesame oil then finally empty onto the pan the sachets of seasoning ingredients included in the package. Mix well then plate it. On the same pan, cook a scrambled egg then put on top of the plated noodles. Warning though. You'll get addicted and you'll definitely crave this once a week.

@@unculturedtravel oh and about the bread, just like pasta, you need it to neutralize the overpowering flavor of the noodles. I suggest, cheese wiz, slather generously on two slices of tasty bread. Get a generous scoop of your noodles and put that as filling on your Cheezy slice of bread. Thank me later.

The "50" in the tea pack, means you get extra 50% of the tea. It's a bonus. That pack issued when the producer celebrated it's 50 years anniversary. But then they never stop it. It's been a long time since then, and they keep selling the product with 50% extra.

Indomie is the best instant noodle ever. Always been my comfort food since i was kid... i tried other countries instant noodle, but to be honest, none could beat indomie. I used to stock a big box of indomies (mie goreng) at home. We could eat this noodle with fried egg, spam, or dried shallot. Thank u for making this video.
You are actually doing what most Indonesians do, most of the time. Mixing all the egg and corned beef with the noodle altogether to get the most out of it. Of course some people like to eat each separately. But, most do what you did. Haha

In Indonesia, particularly Yogyakarta city, there are so many warkop/warmindo (taverns) like what the shopkeeper said. On that tavern, Indomie is cooked in a special manner that makes it more exquisite. If you come to Indonesia, I recommend you visit the city.
Awang Kitchen at Queens have Pempek (one of best seafood dishes by Taste Atlas), batagor, two kinds of fried tempeh and fried tofu dishes (each dishes is different), also cireng (fried tapioca dish that primary schoolers at Indonesia loved to eat) The Java restaurant at Brooklyns also have a lot of appetizers and Indonesian desserts

Moreover, it is a food joint for everyone, here in Indonesia you can meet all sort of people ranging from corporate executive level down to students there. Enjoy your meal. 😊
That bottled sambal condiment is quite good and quite resilient for lot of food including western food. In fact we often used it to dip french fries and fried chicken.

You could also pour some your Tic Tacs on a dish (preferably one with rice) as a crunchy mini-crackers, it's good aside from just snacking on it as is. Also the reason why Corned Beef prevails as the best toppings in here is mainly because they're cheap and widely accessible in small shops or convenience stores everywhere, and they're usually put on shelf next to the Indomie packs. And since corned beef is in a can, they have a long shelf life alongside Indomie packs and eggs rather than buying a fresh meat for toppings. It's perfect for the students like you said as a comfort food or even emergency food

its first counterpart 's been around since the seventies. it's made by a different company and had different flavour. it was quite good, but didnt sell so big as the mie goreng kind. then only about 40 years ago, this particular flavour (that you just tried) was launched and it's been on the top of the instant noodle food chain ever since. young kids and adults all love this product, but adults tend to limit their intake because of health concerns, due to high content of sodium and msg. but the cravings are still there. nobody can deny it 😅

I'm from Indonesia, to have at least a pack of Indomie available in your food cabinet is a culture for almost every household in here. There are also many more Indonesian instant noodle brands, but Indomie is just like coke's Coca Cola. You can buy the traditional Internet noodle only for less than $1.5 even in big cities in Indonesia. If you buy yourself the ingridients at the supermarket, you can greatly reduce the cost to just less than 0.75$ a bowl.
