I've been drawing since I was little. The last 5 or so years I've been trying realism, but I've been out of the game for a while. I happened to see this video in my recommended and wow...I'm so glad I clicked it. This guy is amazing and this video alone just inspired me to get back in the game. Thank you for making this video, you got me so excited and motivated to draw again. I learned more from this video than 34 years of drawing. Great work truly love this video and immaculate drawing.

Completely aside from your incredible artwork, I must say that you seem much more wise and intelligent than a lot of other youtubers out there, especially in the way you explain and describe everything. Also, you speak much better English than most non-accented English speakers I know!

Yeah,, I'm happy with the results. I'm also lacking in the area of patience. But you know, you cannot be a pro at something without taking the time to hone your skills. Just focus on improving one drawing at a time and before you know it 4, 5 months will fly by like breeze

This was amazing. Ive been aiming for hyper realism since I first started drawing in April 2020 and the fact you managed this in 9 hours of work is incredible. I’m watching videos of 100 + hours of work and thinking I don’t have the patience, but apparently you don’t either 😂. This video has also given me a boost of confidence in my own techniques and also given me a couple of pointers. I have also avoided mixing mediums thinking I should just stick with graphite, but struggling to get the dark values, and after seeing this I am definitely going to try adding in charcoal to my work. Thank you for sharing, this was inspirational and helpful 🙏👌

Hey Sian. This drawing could be more realistic in the hands of experienced professionals. But like you said, I'm not the most patient so I just did the minimal details. Then again I also cropped the image so that I drew faster, didn't waste time on hair, the second cheek and whatnot. But by all means experiment with charcoal. If you don't like it you stop, simple.. But it'll be really helpful in getting dark shadows. Charcoal powder is helpful to achieve smooth and darker tones. It'll take a little practice to control but it'll be rewarding.

It's very easy to get jealous rather than I inspired from people's drawing. But that can prevent you from having joy. Rather, when you see a wonderful artwork, try to notice what they did right and how you can incorporate it in your works.

But i have a little problem, because i have patience but i dont use my patience🙃 somehow im done with my portraits in 3 hours but won’t have a good result. But i also dont know how to get it closer to realism. or i try to make it better but mostlikely make it worse or i leave it by that. And 1 problem i maybe found out how to fix it… but when drawing i always look at an angle that its not from above so i wont have right proportions. Also i use the free hand technique to draw the sketch im going to use a grid from now on i think, to get it accurate.( hyper-realism ) also saw a community post a few days ago about longer videos, i would definitely watch that and learn. It’ll be fun if you do:))

Excellent. I started more seriously sketching after attending school through “Art Instructions School of Minneapolis, Minnesota.” I started simply by making a ball sitting on a piece of paper that looking down on it looked like a real ball sitting there. I’ve been doing so many other things that I haven’t dedicated as much time to drawing in the last 20 years, but I was terrible at the ink drawing. Painting and Pencil sketches were always easier and looked better. Again Excellent work!! ✌🏻
