As a half Australian half Minang, I couldn't help but to giggle! I was taught by my nenek to make rendang from scratch traditionally and in our village over an open fire. YOU HAVE NOT TASTED RENDANG UNTIL YOU TASTE IT MADE LIKE THIS!! 🤤🤤 Back in Australia, I make it often in winter over gas stove. It's still good but nothing compares. If you went to a place in Kemang, doubt it would be as authentic in comparison as no doubt it would cater to a more western market. OH and you must get some Sate Padang in if you can!!! Ok..my mouth is salivating now thinking about all the epic Minang food. Guess I'm due to go back to the village again soon. Great video though you guys get -100000 Aussie/Minang points for not having any karupuak!!!!! 😂😂

Hi, I am from Hong Kong and worked in Indonesia before. The best Padang restaurant I came across is Garuda in Pluit. Especially the Rendang .

Akchually, the 'best' is probably Sederhana. The real one, as in the expensive one, not the ones we might see on the street-side eateries . Garuda, Pagi Sore and many others are good, but Sederhana takes the cake

Nooo, you eat it wrong, pour many of the "kuah" (the food liquid that present in the plate) to the rice then add the chips (kerupuk kulit), there you have " nasi padang"

Rendang comes in many versions. But whatever versions, rendang is the best dish recipe Indonesia ever shared with Malaysia and Singapore. Thank you Indonesia ❤ PS. That’s not spinach. That’s pucuk Ubi (tapioca leaf) lemak chili, that’s why it’s a bit bitter. That’s my favourite ❤️

Pagi sore kurang enak, menurut gw, . Lebih suka Sederhana kalau masih ke restoran chain. Yang paling enak tapi, (mungkin bias karena punya temanku 😅) adalah Mangaliya di Rawamangun.

Wait, what do you mean rendang is too dry? The real rendang _is_ supposed to be dry. I am native minang but not live in Jakarta. I have tried that Pagi Sore in Kemang, its ok. One of the best rendang that I found in Jakarta is in Rumah makan Padang Salero, at komando raya street, behind WTC.

So many people dont really like real authentic dry hard black rendang i guess. They dont really know what rendang supposed to look and taste like. Especially in java island, most of rumah makan padang so called rendang is actually not rendang, but its actually kalio, which is a half cooked rendang. I guess the previous rendang that he tried was actually kalio which is more juicy and tender. Thats why he surprised when the rendang he tried in this video kinda dry.

eating Rendang together with Dadak (brown sauce) makes it wet oily wet but Bobby doesn't like oily food so there is no solution for that kind of taste
