Ciorba de fasola cu afumatura si ceapa rosie. Smoked pork and beans with red onion salad.
If you go to Danube Delta you should try the fish soup make it locally by fishermen.

@@civfanatic8853 Yeah I know, fish is very healthy, unfortunately I can only stand fish if fried and with lots of garlic...otherwise it's a no go for me.

I think that kind of soup is not common in all regions, the first time I encountered this was after I got married when my sister in law made it. Funny story, I had to pull my wife aside and ask her before trying it. - Why does your sister put "mamaliga" (polenta) inside the soup, I've never had a "mamaliga" soup before, we usually use vegetables and or meat, is this an actual recipe or some kind of experiment? In the end it was edible, but I prefer the "ciorba" varieties which are sour, not sweet, much much better :))

hi, that is soup allrighit, not ciorba. if you whan chiken ciorba then if should be ciorba de gaina cu taitei de casa :)
As a Romanian, I love ciorbas, they are such a good healthy meal. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
In Romania there is a big difference between ciorba and soup (which is supa). You have to eat ciorba with bread, with romanian bread to feel the real tase and also with sour cream if you want :)))

The difference : ciorba is always sour / sour soup 🍲 = ciorba
We dont use oregano in our traditional bean soup, we use taragon. Cheers!

I only use thyme and dill... bot dried up and just a pinch of each... super tasty... especially if if the "ciorba" or "iahnie" is made with smoked pork rib.... oh, I just made myself drool :D Also I like to make a peasant's bors with just veggie mixt (onion, bell pepper, tomato paste, carrot, parsley root or parsnip root, celery root cubed potatoes) and kidney beans and then put in the bors and maybe a little bit of fresh chopped up parsley leafs... and it's such a great thing to eat on a hot summer day.

We also use lovage in ciorba de perisoare. Never basil, that is Italian. So the herbs we use are dill, parsley, lovage, thyme (cimbru), tarragon.

And we never use cilantro in our traditional dishes either. Parsley and lovage are our magic herbs for the meatball soup.

Romanians and Portuguese love soup. These soups are more like chowders. My favourite soup/chowder is ciorba de salata. I eat soup every day it doesn't matter if it's summer or winter.

I know it's kinda strange question, but are in Romanian cuisine ALL the first courses just soups? I'm 🇮🇹🇷🇴 and I live in Italy, so I mostly eat pasta as the 1st dish, but most of my Romanian relatives eat soups everyday, and this kinda shocks me.
Next time in the tripe soup add a spoon of vinegar and some pepper, in the beef soup add 2-3 spoons of sour cream (smantana) to give them a better flavour :)

The most beautiful place in Romania is Maramureș. It has many places to visit, including the Waterfall of the Horses, the Merry Cemetery, Mocănița, Bârsana, Breb, Sighet, Moisei Monastery, Sapanta Peri Monastery, etc.
You're spot on!Ciorba de burta and ciorba radauteana are the nation's favorite ciorba's!
In the south of Romania and in Moldova borscht is used in the preparation of soup because of this the soup is slightly sour. In Transylvania the soup has a different taste because we do not use borscht. I recommend potato soup with smoked meat.

The sour liquid ingredient called borș and the Ukrainian/Russian borscht are totaly different things. Borș, the sour bran liquid, is specific to Moldova. In Muntenia is used only in eastern parts like Buzău, Ploiești, Brăila and Bucharest, so the areas that are close to Moldova.

The beef soup is usually served with sour cream and the lentils one with croutons... or at least that's how I eat them... and with some very spicy peppers :D ...dam', I'm hungry now...

Yes guys. Visiting the Danube Delta is a must. A nice boat ride on the channels and checking out the nature and local food is a must. Do not leave Romania before seeing the Danube Delta!

That creamy chicken soup on a cold rainy day, on the patio. Sounds heavenly!
It's impossible not to like soups because they are healthy.
Ciorba de burta îs the Romanian hot and sour soup, it will always come with sour cream, a hot chili pepper and vinegar, so you can make as hot and sour as you like (people have different taste, you know…)
In general, "ciorba" is healthy because it has a medium consistency, but you never eat two kinds of "ciorba" at the same time.
Good and honest review on all the 6 types of Romanian ciorba. Simple content but nice vlog and fun to watch. Good job and cheers guys. 🥰🥰
I love Mrs Maria!!! She comes to work in another Ciorbe si Placinte branch where I go a lot and she's always the most professional, friendly, energetic and hospitable assistant ever! Everyone else who has to deal with clients should learn from her. Also, Ciorbe si Placinte = chef's kiss!
I've cooked Romanian soups in India and people became addicted to them :) My favorite is " Perisoare" soup, you must try it!

As of my knowledge ciorbă de burtă is Romania's favorite soup, as well as the meatball soup. and ciorbă de fasole made with smoked meat off the bone. Romanians love a person that loves to eat, so you can easily get on their good side, just mention food and beer lol.
You did a great job by presenting concisely the most favourite soups of Romania. One note on the tripe soup (ciorba de burta, which literally means belly soup): you tickle the best flavour and joy out of it by accompanying it with some wine vinegar, fresh mashed garlic and fresh hot pepper. It goes best with freshly baked crunchy bread.

These are all very tasty sour soups, but we have more types of sour soups, all traditional. My favorites are: 1. The purple spinach sour soup (ciorba de loboda) wich is a lighter, spring soup, very fresh, pink in color from the purple spinach with an unique taste from this herb, also served with sour cream 2. The smoked pork and tarragon sour soup (ciorba de tarhon cu afumatura) wich resembles the bean and pork soup only without the beans, not so heavy, and with tarragon (besides other vegetables), wich gives an unique falvour 3. As others told you, you should try the fish sour soup, in 2 versions, one just as fish sour soup (ciorba de peste) and another, only served in Danube Delta , the "storceag" which is like a fish puree with garlic and sour cream, totally delicious.

„Ciorbă rădăuțeană” can be literally translated to „Soup from Rădăuți”. Rădăuți is a city and small region in the Romanian half of Moldova. I've been watching English-speaking vloggers for years, and this is the closest any have got to mentioning something from that part of the country.

In Romania sunt foarte multe feluri de ciorba. Mi-ar fi placut ca la sfarsitul video-ului sa spuna ca este constient de acest lucru, dar nu a avut timp sau posibilitatea de a le incerca pe toate. Domnul nu a gustat ciorba de peste, ciorbele de frunze (spanac, stevie, loboda, untisor, etc.), borsurile si alte si alte feluri de ciorba pe care nici eu nu le cunosc, dar stiu ca exista.
We don't use oregano, that one was thyme (cimbru)
5 stars times 6 soups....30 star lunch! Doesn't get any better!
Meatball soup - the sour taste is from "bors" (wheat bran, corn and fermented water) and the seasoning is not with coriander or basil, is with lovage. The tripe soup and Radauteana soup are sour with vinegar. Ciorba de fasole soup has thyme spice. I'm glad you liked our soups. See you guys !

the sourness comes from borș, an fermented ingridient/liquid used in most all of the romanian soups en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bor%C8%99_(bran)
Bean soups are (traditionally) made with smoked pork hock (hence the smoky flavour you noticed) and, as others have mentioned, seasoned with tarragon and thyme.
You should also taste "ciorba de pește" (fisch borsch) in Danube Delta.
great video guys! i am from the north region where that soup is! it s great isnt it? it s romanian! you wont find it anywhere else. sometimes not even people in south like bucharest cant make it righth. soo good❤️
So glad that you are trying these. There are a couple that are missing here: Chicken soup which is sometimes made with a special dumpling. And secondly, the beets soup. One of the best soups. But it might be regional.

Hi guys. I need to make this distinction about the perpetual mistake in translation of "ciorba". In Romania, are 3 traditional liquid foods: 1. Supa - Known as Soup all over the world. Can be with clear broth or creamy. 2. Ciorba - More thicker and more complex process to prepare, has the roots in Middle East, formerly known as Persian empire - "Chorba or shorba". In North America is close to "chowder". 3. Tocăniță - Also known around the world as stew.

Supa is sweet, ciorba is sour( Lemon juice and tomatoes ) ..... Bors, is much more sour( you use Bors to make it ) .....!!!! and the stew is not in the same category .....it's second course....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, because the word "CIORBA" is borrowed from Turkish "çorba", so the origin is Asia.

(ayayayay..) 😁 Reminds me also of when I was in the Netherlands and I remarked to my host "So bonen soup doesn't have bones in it" and he started laughing really hard.. ("bonen soup" is bean soup...)

Best choice, Ivana! Tripe soup is usually served with a few drops of vinegar and, yes, a 🌶 on the side. Ciorba Radauteana is another Romanian favourite! Our white soups are all sour and garlicky and we love them most!

It's actually made with vinegar, some people just choose to add more, to their taste... but it's supposed to have some in it already, to cut some of the fatty feeling and to kinda prevent the acid reflux/heartburn some people get when they eat garlic.

Ciorba de Burta and Ciorba Radauteana are practically the same but the meat is different, one uses chicken meat, the other one beef stomach.

@@RaduRadonys I am from Radauti and I personally know the lady restaurant owner who invented Ciorba Radauteana. You would be amazed to know that indeed, she made this soup for the first time at home because her husband couldn't stand the tripe (cow stomach) and so she made the same soup, but with chicken breast. After that she introduced it at the restaurant and now it's patented. I can't eat tripe so I love this version and it works wonders for a hangover.
Ciorba taraneasca de vita with sour cream and chili. That's the best. Second on my list is the tripe soup (ciorba de burta), with sour cream and chili. And some vinegar. Good for hangovers.
You guys are so funny, yes, they are all very good. The ciorba de perisoare (meatball soup) has usually parsley leaves and lovage leaves in it, it's not basil that you tasted. 😊 My favorite is also the creamy chicken and garlic soup "ciorba radauteana".

In general we have that ciorba with bread (otherwise don't taste the same, you need to have the exactly same experience...and it depends how and who is cooking...as not all the people or restaurants will cooking good,,,(,maybe you should try it a few time at diferit places around Romania) and sometimes with chilli too(depends of the soup), but you should try the caw belly soup at the end as have strong flavours and it will fade the other soups...ciorba yes it is sour soup but we have the "normal" soups too (i put it normal in quotes because we call the ciorba as normal to us because ciorba is more popular than the ones other west europeean have it..., many other countries have this sour soups too, East Europe, Central Europe, Middle East, India, etc Ciorba have this "secret" ingredient called borsch which is fermented wheat bran, but in these days people may replace it with vinegar, lemon, sauerkraut juice... anyway, I'm so happy you visit Romania and you have nice experiences there and enjoy the food, well done guys. I think you ordered too many for one goal and I hope that you had the power to walk afterwords...

i would eat ciorba in the morning, noon and evening, its my all time favorite, delicious, nutricious and healthy, full of vegetables and flavours, and the meat is boiled and not too much, ciorba is the perfect balanced food.

Interestingly, in Pakistan we call it "Shorba". Soup in the watery dish is called Shorba.
You should also try an old soup such as homemade noodle soup. Fish soup and "plachia"...Beof salad and "racitura"...

There’s lots of çorba here in Turkey too. We’ve been going to a shop specializing in it often. Really good!

My favorites: Ciorba de perișoare (meatballs) Ciorba de fasole (beans) Ciorba de pui (chicken) I didn't put any numbers / in specific order cuz I love all 3 (it's like a top 3 faves). I won't refuse any of them if someone offers me one of these 3 ciorbe :D

Biting the hot pepper made my day, like a romanian , a bite of pepper ,one of ciorba! Sourness comes ,most of the time from borsh, a juice from fermented wheat bran!
Ciorba de burtă is my favorite (stomach beef soup) even though I hate the stomach texture so I don't eat those, the taste of the soup is still my most favorite. ♡♡♡

Yeah, so I was wrong. 🙂 The pie fillings aren't with sugar, nutella, jams and stuff, but you can have an apple filling, cheese filling and a few other things. 🙂🙂👍👍🇸🇪🇸🇪🇷🇴🇷🇴
