    Great video and nice shooting! 12mm steel is the ticket you're looking for. 1/2 inch is 12.7mm and 129g. 12mm is 109g and is much easier to get nice velocity with. For reference. 7/16 or 11mm weighs 86.7g. Happy tree trimming!

    I used to hunt as a kid with handmade slingshots lol. Now I’m older and back on this. Thinking when I go fishing and get bored I’ll shoot rounds 😂 But what’s the good size that’s good for small game?

  • @slingin-clay

    @slingin-clay

    4 ай бұрын

    The most common sizes for small game are 8mm and 9.5mm steel. Typically 8mm requires a bit more accuracy and 9.5 is a bit more forgiving, but requires slightly heavier bands for short draw/face anchor. Also I’ve heard of many guys using 9 and 10mm lead. A lot of British hunters use 11mm or 7/16 steel too so I’ve heard, but that requires some really heavy bands. Hope that helps, thanks for watching brother!👊

  • @slingin-clay

    @slingin-clay

    @@b.l4365 Its so hard to recommend slingshots, because everyone likes different fork widths and everyone has different budgets. But you can get adjustable GZK frames on amazon, although they will take 2-3 weeks to arrive. Also, many many people suggest the Scout LT from Simpleshot as a beginner slingshot. OmegaslingsUSA, GZk, SniperSling, Pocket Predator, and SimpleShot are all great places to buy a slingshot.

  • @slingin-clay

    @slingin-clay

    4 ай бұрын

    @@b.l4365 Clay is NOT good for hunting, too light and brittle. Steel is legal in the USA, but about half the states it’s not legal to hunt with a slingshot, the other half it is. You have to look up the laws in your state. If you want to target shoot with clay, you can find it all over amazon cheap.👍

    How long are your bands?

  • @slingin-clay

    @slingin-clay

    5 ай бұрын

    From fork tip to end of pouch were about 245mm, I think that’s like 9 3/4 inches. That’s about 550% elongation, I could cut them shorter for more speed and not be maxed out, but I usually go for more longevity. 👍👊
