I tried the oil rinse Sunday December 5th that was my wash day. I used Avacado oil. My hair came out beautifully. It was soft and manageable. I had no knots. And it stayed soft for the whole week. I didn't have to add any oil on top of my hair. I only had to grease the scalp. I will definitely be doing this again. My hair loves it. Thank you Curly Chemistry for sharing!❤️❤️🙏

Oil rinses have never done me wrong. Whenever I do them, my hair is so much easier to detangle. I don't know why I would never not do them, other than laziness. Oil rinses and ACV rinses have been the most helpful for detangling. But if I had to choose just one of those, I would go with oil rinses.

Love the topic. What helps me is that I don't forget to oil before I start wash day. Yes prepoo. But my favorite is to get that diy growth oil blend on my scalp and hair with some deep conditioner on my hair ends but don't rinse it out. Like making my own leave in product with what I have on hand. Sometimes I have to much oil so I rinse it with cold it cool water. My hair and I are happy. 🦋🥰

Thanks again for this tip. I typically use Vaseline on my hair following my leave-in and focus on applying it more to my ends and then two strand twist. I have thick strands just above my bra strap, so it really keeps my hair moisturized and sealed for days. But I will try grapeseed oil as you suggested and see how it feels. If it doesn't provide the same moisturization as Vaseline, I'll go back to Vaseline. Thank you for sharing all your amazing knowledge....and your hair is thriving. Beautiful!

I do this quite often. I choose a "thin" oil and I mostly oil rinse after I have conditioned it. I start with hot water to rinse, then end with cool. I try not to use a lot of oil (just a quarter size or so) and palm the oil through my hair while it mixes with the water. I squeeze and palm. This really helps me get out any shed hairs that might be lingering, as I have rather medium to fine strands (depending on what area of my head it is) and I am not good with using a comb.

Hi - thanks for your video - I have locs for the second time & oil rinsing makes the difference. I wash my hair with natural shampoo until the suds are shiny, next I gently squeeze out some of the water. I drench my hair & scalp with oil I choose & use a plastic bag to hold the oil in for at least 15 minutes. In the shower I put conditioner on then rinse both out, squeezing my locs as the warm water flows through. My hair loves this routine. Afterwards my hair only needs a little oil on each loc - I live in a dry climate but the length retention & happy scalp is happening.

Rather we never have in my house and my momma was / is the fry queen. I can't count the old pickle jars we kept for old grease. I just got a portable shampoo bowl. I think I'll try this in there 🤔. What has helped me retain leghth I believe a variety of things. No heat, maybe once or twice a year, keeping my hair in twist lco I'm low porosity and my ends pined up with Bobby pins, I seal with hair butter and grease.. I'll probably stop buying butters grease works great I think it last longer on my hair. Old school blue magic does the trick. Oh yeah and my teas.

LOL! I just left a comment on your video about Reverse Washing Natural Hair video about oil rinsing not realizing that you had made a video months ago about oil rinsing. The technique that I used is shampooed my hair twice, applied warmed oil, detangled my hair, rinsed out the oil, applied conditioner, and rinsed out the conditioner. For the oil, I warmed a mix of coconut oil, avocado oil, macadamia oil, grapeseed oil & pumpkin seed oil. My hair was so soft after applying the oil, I could have skipped applying the conditioner. I will try skipping the conditioner next time. I will also try different oil mixtures in the future, but will still warm it up. I've tried hot oil treatments and overnight hair oiling in the past, but they didn't make my hair look and feel as good as oil rinsing.

I comb a leave in through my sectioned hair and then comb through oil that I rubbed between my palms. Then, I do two strand twists with a little bit of pomade or grease. I put a plastic cap on my hair for about 30 minutes, take it off, and let it air dry. So far, my hair seems to be responding positively. Maybe I don’t need an oil rinse….

Saturation with water first for my low porosity areas cause oil rinsing to be as effective for me. I have to change the water temps and it is usually the last part of my hair I oil rinse. I will often put styling product on that portion right after, before I get out of the shower, to make sure that also "gets in" and doesn't sit on top of the strands.

Then I rinse out the conditioner after steaming for about 30-45 min and apply oil again but I don't rinse it out I just proceed with styling. I add my leave in conditioner then I apply grease, after the grease I use a styler. Sometimes a curl cream or gel or even both but the gel last. I've been using it for about a month now as high-heat cooking oil due to food allergies associated with canola, coconut, and peanut oils. What if I used rice bran oil as my oil rinse? Good information. I use a mixture of avocado, olive, jojoba, hemp seed, castor and almond oil with a few drops of essential oils; peppermint and bay. I slather it on root to tip (after DC is rinsed out), wash my body so it can sit for a few; them rinse it out. My hair loves it. By the way, I have low porosity hair that I keep twisted. I will rehydrate mid-week, twist it up again. And, because I wear wraps this helps with not having to style my hair all the time. I have notice more length since doing this.
