It's that even after the fact that the werewolf attempted to start discussion with the druid, most likely in common language that they can understand already~ The paladin still cast "Speak with animals" for whatever reason.

the combination of the low quality image that isn't *too* crunched, but enough to look as if someone literally took these pictures, in shock, adds to the value of the humor. Why is the deer facing the camera? Why is is staring? How did they get two pictures of it in motion? To comment on your observation of the subversion, a la caked up omni man, another subtle way the artist made this much more comedically rich was by tuning down the 'reveal' note. Therefore amplifying the punch, the sudden wide deer mixed with the blasting "bwomp" creates a cocktail of pure hilarity. Though it doesn't simply end there, by extending the note and hold of the wide deer without any sort of editing; you are forced to stare into it's stupid dead eyes as the note grows longer and longer. The rhythm is suddenly *shifted*. Your expectations have now been completely shattered, leaving the viewer raw and without any ability to comprehend the scenario. The note gets longer and longer, the song continues, but the wide elk stares longingly beyond. There is no zoom, there is no further punchline, you simple watch and grasp this wide deer who silently observes. It's as if the artist wants you to 'weigh in' on the wide deer. The only direction your train of thought goes to is "why". Why is the deer here, and what is it doing? There's clear emphasis on it, but for what purpose. All of that thought and subversion, with a clean simple punchline. The deer is wide, and it's funny. Flawless execution, subtle nuance, not too heavy handed, all wrapped within a perfect video that was likely effortlessly created by an unknown individual. May the universe bless this wide deer.

I did the "Wish" steed thing... 80 times. In our Sigil game, over the course of 10 levels, I made alliances with 5 Efreet. Efreet can grant wishes but not to themselves. Our deal was that, any time they wanted anything, they would come to my Githyanki Kith'rak. I would make one wish for my benefit and two wishes for theirs. At level 15, when I finally had 5 Efreeti allies, we circled up and spent more than half a month buffing the crap out of all of us. I made sure that my dragon mount and two familiars were present, gaining all the benefits that I did. We all support each other's tyrannies well. How could we trust each other you ask... The first wish of the Wish circle was for eternal, true, and trustworthy friendship and alliance between all the members. We literally cannot betray each other.

I think what makes wide deer funnier for me is the mix of the original audio + the Fear & Hunger boss music tone. Its a really great mix of just goofy things that culminate into something extremely funny.

The land sharks could've been a bulette. It could've been a whole thing, where the failed nature check turned out to be right for exactly the wrong reason. It has the seed of something funny in there.

The immediate difficulty spike was unexpected. Almost compromised the whole operation.

I've talked to my players about the Greater Steed/Wish combo before and we've come to the conclusion that if it ever came up somehow, we would let the horse get a wish but it's a horse wish, so they would get like a mountain of apples or some stupid shit.

I don't know how D&D horses are that stupid on the sheet and still obeys human while not making stupid mistakes unless their own life is at stake. IRL obedient beings are often capable to assess the situation rather quickly, fully aware of what possibility that they are provided with. If I am going to cast Wish while riding a horse in an "Realistic" settings, I'd try to be as friendly to the horse as possible.

I reacted exactly how you would expect a blind person to react to that comment… It was a roller coaster of emotion within 10 seconds…

6:58 Animal Friendship fails if the animal being targeted has at least 4 INT. The joke, while not funny, is that the party continually assumes that because its a werewolf, he must have low INT and is unable to communicate or be cordial with people. It's a very common misconception, that both DM's and players make, that Werewolves are more beast than man and therefore lose their human intelligence when in actuality, the reason they're such a threat is because they retain that intelligence.

We literally had the "oh you should definitely pick that up" meme happen at my last session. I described a room in the dungeon that was full of skeletons and dead bodies and a single pristine chest. My players ran straight to the chest to open it without any investigation whatsoever and were shocked when it turned out to be a mimic

jfc that second meme got me on the relatability. Was playing a Lizardfolk Warlock in a campaign and our party was lured into a room that suddenly got locked and filled with sleepy-time gas. Unfortunately for the DM Lizardfolk can hold their breath for up to 15 minutes. Just seeing their face when I said this shattered my soul a little because I could tell it was the ONE thing they didn't account for in a party full of Dragonborns, Elves, etc. so I took the L and let the NPC who trapped us in here jab me with a sleepytime needle

It's kind of funny how your channel popped up out of nowhere after I have been spending countless hours playing BG 3. Now I legit have been trying to find people to play a real D and D game with. Not so easy as I wanna play with people face to face around a table not digitally. I went out and bought a couple of the dice sets, the players handbook, and the monsters manual.

Can't help but notice that the very vast majority of good memes were, in fact, not D&D memes. I don't know what it is about D&D, the memes just so rarely land.

Honestly I don't wanna sound harsh because I love D&D and its community, but humour is subtle and they're not often very subtle people with a good intuition for creating comedy, more often the kind of people who will just recite jokes and moments from TV. Their experience of comedy is 100% receiving it, not creating it.

Now I have the mental idea of two Warlocks who are each other patrons causing an infinite power loop.

I shamelessly laughed at the giving blind people sight for 30 seconds because it'd been so long of unfunny memes that I forgot this was a challenge and that meme caught me off guard

The Command meme made me think about one thing I keep seeing in dnd space. "Hey let me tell you about that funny/epic thing I did in my campaign, but none of us actually read the spell description" It annoys me so much. Sure. Rule of cool. But rule of cool should have some boundaries. "I cast command: UNDRESS!" Yea cool... he wastes 6 seconds starting to take off his full plate armor, and then goes back to attacking you.

Wish's range is self but you're not always the target of the spell, only when you replicate a spell that makes you so or do one of the effects that target you. Find Greater Steed mentions the spell has to target you, not that its range is self.
