    15:50 interesting point about the front axle and the up and down motion, but when you are rock climbing, I would think you would want a different portion of the tire to be in contact with the rock just slightly behind the center bottom of the tire. I would suspect maybe 15° back since the front of the truck would be pointing up the incline so the traction point should be more towards a 45° angle maybe not that extreme but the kind of illustrate my point. You've clearly given this a lot of thought and that's what makes this hobby so great is learning about different viewpoints.

    Hi, and Thank you. Thats a great question. I don't know the answer. If it hurt, i haven't noticed it yet. When I made that adjustment, i was looking to solve a problem. I was braking a front driveshaft on a daily. a couple thing's happened. Not only did it improve pinion angles, but it moved the yokes up and out of the way. that took some strain out of the drive line at full extension. I wasn't braking front drive shafts anymore. something else unexpected happened with the caster blocks. They moved closer to 90° not exactly but close. I wondered was that going to hurt. You know, for every action is a reaction. the only thing I noticed was how smooth it turned from left to right. You can see it. Watch your rig from straight on and turn left and right. Do it slow and then do it fast. Then make the adjustments and repeat. Better yet, if you have two rigs, do it side by side. You can see the improvement. Nothing moves but the steering components. Before the adjustments my bumpers moved up and down my shocks even layed over the whole rig moved around. It was harder to turn. So with all that being said, I haven't noticed any drawbacks or lack of climbing abilities. But I'll be honest my Defenders are not rock crawler worthy. They are heavy and unbalanced and do not like angels over 50° I trail these dudes. You can see them work. the mods I have done have helped improve these lunkers but could possibly hurt a true rock crawler build. I would certainly try it. It's free. You can always go back. Justa twist of the wrist.

    Did you start off from an unpainted body for big cheese? I guess it’s not original tan color? It looks metallic. Can you elaborate briefly on the process to achieve that awesome looks?

  • @usssoupership

    @usssoupership

    Жыл бұрын

    @ridefrifjell545 HI, I'd be glad to explain. I bought an unpainted body from Traxxas. They come white. Hard plastic. I used "Tamiya Color" paint for polycarbonate. The color is "gold metallic." I can't remember the paint number. But it was the only gold metallic they offer. The paint is for clear bodies, so it dries to a no shine flat finish. I added 3 coats of "rust-oleum clear lacquer. high luster coating" to bring out the shine. No sanding . All paint is on the outside of the body except for the window tint. For that I used "Tamiya color PS-31 smoke" and went full can on it. Limo tint. In the end, I ended up with what you see. Not exactly gold. More like a big block of cheese. Thank you for watching and commenting. Hope you have a wonderful day.

    Learnin' with you.. Question... towards the end, You said it was better to keep the wheels closer to the hub on the trx4m. Was that referring to having the washer inside the hex instead of outside on the axle?

  • @usssoupership

    @usssoupership

    7 ай бұрын

    Hello, and thank you for your time. Yes, i am referring to the washer. But there are a couple of reasons. One is the wheel directly fixed on the hex is best. anything between them could cause some wobble and wear. The other reason is i didn't want the wheels to far out and away from the rig. because the wider they extend out, the more they rubbed on the body. That really depends on the wheels and size tires you use. I'm using the 64mm swamp king tires from little guy racing. With mofo rc wheels and zero offset hubs. I hope this helps. Thank you for the visit and commenting. Have a great day.

    Hi Mike, i bet them shocks are nice. Are they with coil springs? I have stock shocks and springs. They are at full ride height. Another option is a forced drop. It eliminates 90% of the torque twist. At the end of my last video. Are a couple of rigs, one being a bronco. They are both on forced drops with no springs. The climb is steep and narrow. You can see the difference. Thank you for the visit and comment. Enjoy your Bronco brother.
