IMO! Honda never shoulda stopped making the Fourtrax 250R Yamaha never shoulda stopped the Banshee and Suzuki never shoulda stopped both Quadracer Lt 250R and the Quadzilla 500, Shame on them!

I have a 250r and a new 450r and I have to say I love how nimble the 250 is over the 450. They both are awesome in there own ways though I don't think there is a good way to compare the two. They are both so different.

I havent been able to race it due to a number of things but I mainly ride mx tracks and I actually had a ltr450 last year and ended up selling it because I liked the R better. Most of the reason was because I only weigh like 145 so the R was just so much more easier to throw around and controllable for me, much better handling too. They dont have the lightswitch tourque like a LTR does but if you know how to ride a 2 stroke and keep it revved up and on the pipe they can compete with any 450.

The day they start making a 2 stroke race quad is the day ill try another quad. Till then I know my 2Tsmoker R is better than the rest.

yep its the ESR non-powervalve 310.....I ride mostly mx but do take it in the woods on occasion and its a beast no matter what type of riding your doing. I think it would work great for xc.

Awesome wheeler!! I'm hoping to pick one up at the end of summer. I love my 400ex but sometimes you just have to go back and time and tear up the fields with a two stroke!

80s Honda's are tough as nails and can take a lot of abuse so if your good at general maintenance it will last a very long time. As far as power get one then port it, pipe it, and get a high compression head for race gas. You'll never want to stop riding! :)

250s stock aren't slugs but serious power comes out after the mods I mentioned. What you have in mind would definitely get a bump in power (the beauty of 2 strokes) and I'd add some reeds too.

I couldn't really say for sure because ive never raced a banshee before but I think it would be close, The banshee would probably take it in a drag race but on a mx track the R has the advantage with better handling.

i'll see man, im going to testdrive a nice one in a week or two! it only has a filter and ct exhaust on it, so im kinda curious ^^ if i like it im selling my torque-beast (kfx400) ... That one has hotcams, filter, different ratio (faster acceleration) and a full yoshimura! the trx250r must be pretty fast to impress me!

does this require much maintenance in comparison lets say: a blaster 200? and is it powerfull to kick the rear end out at higher speeds? like 4th gear?

If you like light switch power the 250r is the way to go. I'm almost certain the 250 is faster than your 400 and you'll be impressed unless it has issues.

Does that have a 310 I'm trying to build mine up I'm trying to find the best set up for cross country it looks like yours would do just fine

ya more than likely the r would destroy the banshee on the track but i think itd be close in a drag.

This will be my next bike. I've had a blaster and banshee time for one of these beasts
