    Pro Tip: You can use socks or hand towels to create the same twisting effect with the rings that you get with the TRX. (Just place them over the rings and use them as place holders; less grip but you get the desired effect).

    Don't exaggerate. I focus on rings and also train sprinting but still think that you have to do bar squats and deadlift in order to train "whole body".

    wojtekimbier You can do one legged squats/pistol squats. Those are a lot harder than weighted squats, and trust me, I have tried both. I can squat about 250 pounds but can barely do a pistol squat. It requires better balance, better joints, and a lot of time and patience to master. As for deadlifts, you really dont even need a barbell. With calisthenics, you could do that with a pull up bar UPSIDE DOWN and that would mean more stabilization, balance, and strength.

  • @wojtekimbier

    @wojtekimbier

    6 жыл бұрын

    1) What you describe as upside-down deadlift is just a type of pullup. You think it will work your lower body? You need barbell deadlifts for that. 2) I can do 10 full pistol squats no problem. They don't build strength, just balance and flexibility. I squat 68kg. You need barbell squats to "train whole body", not just rings and bodyweight.

  • @oscarstenberg2745

    JWALNATION I squat twice my bodyweight (about 145 kg) and deadlift almost 3 times my bodyweight and I've been lifting for 1.5 years only and still a teenager. When I'm 25 I'll be able to do 1000 pistol squats everyday probably. Legs are just too strong for calisthenics. I don't see the NEED for a barbell though, lifting huge stones, logs etc will do the job but there's a reason calisthenics guys lack lower body strength.

    Rings for sure. Many more exercises possible and simple is always best. It's easy enough to make a cradle for your feet with bits of climbing rope if you want to do TRX style crunches. I have metal rings that I use at home which are completely indestructible but a bit heavy and composite ones for travel which are light and will probably also last forever. TRX is way way too much money for limited functionality. Just my opinion.

    I have both and they are both great. For older people or people with limited ability, the TRX is a great tool. Some people here assume only young people exercise and have to aspire to be advanced. Actually the world has millions of people with different abilities so there’s always room for the TRX. But at 40, I prefer rings but who knows, I may go back to the TRX in the future. Great video by the way.

    Neat trick. If you want rotating handles for your rings and have enough leftover rope from the straps you can just wrap them around the rings and they rotate. It makes curls a lot more comfortable

  • @matthewmoore670
    @matthewmoore6706 жыл бұрын

    Why not both? You can fashion your own TRX Handles with some tubular webbing and pvc and attach them to the bottom of your rings-just as compact, and gives you two tools from one. For each handle, make 2 straps with the webbing-one long, and one short. Size depends on the user & how far down you want the TRX handles to be from your rings-experiment and figure out what works best for you. Pass one end of each strap through the piece of PVC, then tie each into it's own loop using a water knot. Pass the knots back into the pvc to hold them in place. Then, using the longer loop of webbing, secure it to your ring using a girth hitch.

    Great video! I have watched this many times :) I'm using the rings but think about TRX - the ability to rotate the wrist is a good feature however it's not so much benefit: - if I need some biceps curls variation I'm just removing the rings from straps and using any short rounded stick inserted into the both straps at the same time as barbell neck. - removing rings from straps does also make straps using a comfortable for various exercises where the legs should be fixed there.

It gives ease at possible movement and lets you have a taste before you can imagine to do the full movement. Awesome video. I have a trx but looking into rings as I want to progress with bodyweight training. I will still keep using the trx for core exercises though but I feel the rings are less bulky and have less in the way of your arms when doing pushups etc when the straps are by your arms.

    The anchor point in my suspension system isn't high enough for me to use for push-ups (I end up pushing into strap) I have to just put my feet in them and do decline push ups instead.

    You missed on pointing out the advantage of being able to set up the TRX at home using the door strap attachment. Convenient when you're traveling or when it's cold outside and you don't want to spend money on a gym membership. Also there are advanced techniques using the TRX. Check out Dan Long's Suspension Revolution 2 program. It's intense with Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels

    Yeah, I've seen this 'door adapter' for TRX, you're right. But I think you could do the same with the rings.

    TrainingPal yes, I saw door anchors being sold at my local fitness store, just slip the ring strap through them, even cheaper is buy some pvc piping and slide them through the straps and you have door stops

    I like both for different reasons. I've got one of the newer TRXs and it adjusts very very quickly and it is also self leveling. Anything you can do with TRX you can do with rings - plus with rings you can do several more exercises. Don't like push ups with the TRX because the design makes the straps rub agains my body.

    Sounds like the smart play would to start w/ TRX then if desired advance w/rings. One thing I noticed was TRX push ups and moves were feet are suspended are much more difficult than it looks. I'm good for 60-90 floor push-ups however I can only do about 8-10 TRX push ups. Those stabilizer and core muscles get taxed!!

    I think that would be my plan..I bought a cheap 30 dollar set of custom straps very TRX like, and will eventually progress to the rings and combine it with yoga on off days. I get why people.would not want to get ripped off with TRX, but nowadays there's plenty of very cheap suspension options that won't break the bank

    I have both, but I must say that u can do Muscleup's, Dips, and everything u do with the rings, furthermore, u can have more possibilities to find a place to support a TRX than for rings, for example, u can put it in a door, in a non-horizontal bar etc.

    The Nossk Twin Pro system has built-in door hangers or stops that are very convenient. No extra piece to fiddle around with, connect and disconnect, carry, keep track of, go missing, etc. And the flat grip doesn't force your hand into an unnatural curvature.

    Both are great but disappointed how the aspect of strength imbalance wasn't mentioned with regards to TRX. If one side pushes/pulls harder it'll be uneven and it's great for correcting imbalances.

    The one unforgivable feature of TRX bands for me is the buckle being so low: Perhaps I was doing them wrong due to being used to rings, but I tried doing push ups with the TRX band and I couldn't get the buckle to stop rubbing against my arms. They were bright red and it hurt like hell.

    I have both. The price is not an issue, since non-original TRX costs 15 euros, with the same quality (gym trainers' opinion, not only mine). Good, wooden rings cost 25-30 euros. But it is true what you say: TRX are more confortable, but I would NOT bet my ass hanging from them, while rings have this very function. I use the two tools in the sense you mention: TRX for grounded exercises, and rings for total body weight exercises.

    As a lower-intermediate user (who will never get to the advanced level you are showing) I found the Trx more functional and convenient. I was skeptical but then I found it's a really useful tool (only 26€ for excellent quality+lighter & easier to set up than rings)

    Suspension training is the best for the body to gain strength and take your body to the next level. and this depends on the comfort of who or how you want your goals with respect to the one you use (trx or rings). I have purchased both and they are excellent training tools.
