Some great discussion. For us the Caravan was definitely the way to go, we already had the tow vehicle and use it to explore and travel off road once unhitching the caravan. we went relatively small and light and it was a lot cheaper than a similar size van.

Also important when unhitching, setting up and hitching up a caravan. That is why most +75yr are driving MHs.

I watch you and Tasman Travels. We have a motorhome (only 6 metres) but think that there are definitely pros and cons to owning either. For us, the flexibility of parking easily (even at the supermarket) far outweighs having a caravan but to live on the road and stay longer are different places, having the separate vehicle is awesome.

Truck GPS have settings for your Truck Size/Weight - and theoretically then only route you via passable roads.

Definitely depends on the way you travel. If slower and want to take car up a mountain for skiing etc. caravan is the way to go. If you are travelling quicker and want to be more nimble van life is the way to go. We’ve done both. With kids prefer caravan for sure. With regards to the insurance. Not quite comparable as it will be done on value of the vehicle.

Excellent video guys. Very interesting. I'm team Motorhome because I'm female and I can just drive off if something doesn't feel right or if hons arrive. But after 10 years full time i have only had one minor incident where a group of kids banged on the side of my van. Then left. But there have been a few times where my gut told me to move on. Always listen for those signs.

Funny coincidence 🤔 our drawer doe's the same 😅, we use duct tape to keep it from popping open 😊. We also try to stick to the 2hr drive, have alternative places. Oh and I did find the Cambridge story amusing 🫣 (sorry). But Having driven it numerous times the image of the local's made me chuckle. Was it with the same Jayco? Excellent video from you all. Very informative, we're still team caravan, not sure I'm nimble enough to be clambering around in a van full time. But a van like #tasmantravels is on our list if we ever get off the road. PS Greg do you have info on the camera system you use?

Both vehicles would've be about 3000kgs each so your fine. Given how close locals tailgate a couple utes would've had same mass over same footprint.
