I first saw you for the accident utube. My heart went out for you. Have been watching for your updates. So glad you are ok and things are coming together for you again. Another really good video, plenty of good advice as well as an insight into the day to day of that lifestyle of travelling. I don't understand you receiving negative comments etc, the main thing that Donna and I enjoy about watching your videos is the realness of how you both are on camera. Your channel came up when you posted the accident video. I’m not travelling yet, but I’m planning on it in the further. Ignore the trolls. Just from watching a few videos of your, you are both so down to earth and share such useful information. There are so many videos showing the just the fun side of camping and travelling around Australia - which is great. But this side is so important too. I’m sure through sharing about your incident, you’re helping so many people with thinking about putting plans in place if things go wrong. Thank goodness you’re ok. I totally agree with you Mr B, trolls don't need to be out to try put people down. They are so annoying and terrible people and so dislike them and there comments. Never forget the time where "Just Vanning It" had those trolls too where they made disrespectable comments about Sue and they thought of stopping videos but glad they didn't as we don't what those Trolls to ruin it for everyone else who love these videos that you all make. Really enjoyed your positive outlook and realistic views...shit happens and you handled it with resilience and forward thinking..wouldn't want to have gone through your accident but appreciate you sharing your new knowledge !

Im so clad your all ok even the other people in the car. We looked at RACQ ultra care and went throught all the cover they has as you know. We chose Club 4x4 becasue of the total recovery of both the car & caravan as a package IE towing the van/4x4 to a repairer, accomadation lenght period flights, trailer hire also was covered.. Club 4x4 were lowever cost and more cover after an crash or recovery, and we have looked into this exact situation you have been in and the cover we have as I said is more than RACQ Ultra care.(note we have been with RACQ Ultra care before)

we have only discovered your channel since you've had your accident. and we can 100% empathise with everything you've said in this video and the last few. We wrote our trailer off on the nulliabour. The shock at the time was increadible and in the days and months that came. We left the trailer in the hands of the tow truck after we got as much as possible out of it on the side of the road. and all we wanted to do was turn around and come home. I have so much i want to say about how we feel for you. I have no real words. videos like yours are invaluable for people to be aware of all the things that people should know incase the worst moments happen. best of luck in your future.

I Went on a return Journey through Melbourne Via the Calder Freeway , Tullamarine Freeway and the Monash Freeway to Dandenong 27/6/24 Dual Cab Ute only, not towing caravan and the Toll Cost was $36.98. I left Maldon in Central Vic @ 5.45am and got to Melbourne around 7.15am and Dandenong 8.25am A good run with light traffic and no fools. If taking a caravan through Melbourne aim to reach city centre around 6.30 - 7.30am traffic will be starting to build but not insane

Just watched your latest episode, I have yet to comment on anyone or any channel but I felt the need to say something. At last, a couple that I really enjoy listening to and genuinely like listening to what you have to say. My first episode I watched was the one of your accident. I am really glad everything has turned out well and you are both safe. I also love that you said that the trolls out there should move on, totally agree. I’m not a traveller, just a few times a year, but I genuinely hope one day to bump into you guys and shout you a beer. You are my type of people ❤️ Stay safe.

This was such an interesting video after such a terrible experience. KZread has introduced us without any prompting to a number of sites and when yours popped up 2 postings ago we were curious when the whole adventure came to a crashing halt. The way that and the following posts progressed we became interested in how and certainly hoping all would work at well for yourselves. I don’t get the negativity from some that you mentioned but that seems to be a bent that some have and hopefully you can erase them. All the best with your travels and we’ll look forward to seeing your posts. Oh I’ve started to research dash cams. Safe travels.

Hi guys, we came across you by accident. You had the accident, it came through our feed, we subscribed. Heads up though, it’s probably not a sustainable KZread business model. Lol. Anyway, we are building our own 18’ van so it’s interesting to here about the insurance. You cannot insure an unfinished van in Queensland, it must be registered and have an independent valuation on completion. Prior to this though we needed an engineer certificate because we have built everything from the chassis to the composite body. Like you we are risk averse and have insurance ON EVERYTHING so it’s unnerving to have $90k (+ labour) tied up in your driveway that’s uninsured. Anyway, we love your videos and glad to see you are both well. Look forward to seeing how the new van goes for you. Thanks.

Hi guys I’m just touching base with you I know how you feel about all of what happened to you we had the same thing happen to me when I was on a 3 month trip in WA 😢. Thankfully no one got hurt in our incident but we lost our van a hilux went through our Jayco freedom 8 years ago. So good on you for putting your journey with all of this. We are subscribers and regular watchers, albeit normally via the van TV, so don't get to see the comments made by others. What absolute jerks some people are!! Glad to see you got everything sorted and can now move forward with your adventures. I'm with Mr B, I too have an MR license and have experience towing heavy machinery and drive with respect for truckers! I have just done up my Colorado for "capable touring" with many legal modifications, and am about to upgrade my insurance to a comprehensive policy. I'm about to register a small camper trailer as well so I'll be looking into whether the insurance will cover it too or if I need a separate policy. I love having a UHF radio in my vehicle! It's great for listening to the trucks and hearing of any situations on road conditions ahead and to let the truck drivers know what my intentions are when passing. I look forward to seeing where you guys travel to next. Stay safe!

Thanks for a great video. I’m glad RACQ came through for you. I worked for them for 23 but I’m retired now. My husband and I have a caravan and travel a lot. You mention Ultra care but I just want to make sure that you’re aware of RACQ Ultimate. That is the level of cover you need to have. It would have provided you with lots of benefits after the accident.

I suggest fitting an engine guard to your tow vehicle. Six years ago near Casino NSW, we had a fan belt break, which took out a radiator hose on the Prado and by the time I realised we had a problem the engine was cactus. NRMA platinum cover was brilliant, we were looked after like we were one of the family. See you on the road somewhere.

We are travellers and appreciate the posts that are educational. Keep up the good posts. I would love to do what you do. But I couldn’t stand the negative and cruel posts. Good on you!

Glad you are over the worst. I know the trauma of the accident, having had a trailer blow a tyre whilst towing a Jaguar behind a Saab9000 twenty years ago. The trailer weight dropped onto the towbar, which lifted the car front wheels, travelling downhill. No control and rolled down the road, went through the Armco, and hit a bridge support. Everything written off, walked away from it. Not nice at all, the insurance pay out was two and a half times what I paid for the car, quite a surprise. The trailer manufacturer had built a number of faulty trailers resulting in multiple accidents for users of them. Hope you have a better future towing.

Hi guys , great all is well, onward and upward from now on 👍 as for the keyboard trolls I liken them to a noxious weed and should be treated with roundup. We are insured with RACQ as well ,all the bells and whistle's you can buy. On one of our trips, we happened to shear all 6 studs and hence the caravan wheel parted company. As you have said the D35 gave you a huge safe outcome, our hitch is a MacHitch which also articulates and prevents the tug from being overturned in most cases which it did. When we got in touch with the insurance company the first question they asked was is it mechanical or an accident, this through me back for a second , what the !!. I replied to the young lass that it started mechanical and ended with an accident involving only myself. In the end it all got sorted.I now check my wheel nuts every time before we hit the road , stay safe guys 😊

I'm a mechanic of 44 years, and I always check wheel nut torque after mine or my customers' vehicles have been at a tyre shop. They (tyre shops) are getting better but still have room for improvement. I crack off all the wheel nuts and then torque them up to about 25 to 30 NM, with a final torque of 70 NM. Do I use a torque wrench. No. I know intuitively what's tight enough and what's not, and what's too tight.. Even torque on all nuts is also very important. I did 35000 km towing an Off Road Caravan around Tasmania and the top end. I never checked the wheel nuts after correctly torquing them up. Oh, and always lubricate the threads with a small amount of grease. This insures correct torque by stopping the threads binding. Using this method also prevents wheels studs from breaking off. I hope this helps. There are plenty of KZread videos on this.
