Featured in TIR Episode 190, Part 2 of 2: Twin brothers Walter and Wallace "Scotty" Scott, founding members of a true R&B singing institution -- the wonderful Whispers! Beginning their career out of L.A. in 1963, the quintet recorded several singles before releasing their first album in 1970. During the next four decades, the group would go on to produce 20 more studio albums, eight of which landed in the R&B Top 10, and chart 15 Top 10 R&B hits.
Equally at home on uptempo and romantic ballads, the Whispers’ classic songs include “Let’s Go All the Way,” “Olivia,” “And the Beat Goes On,” “Lady,” “It’s a Love Thing,” “Tonight,” “Keep on Lovin’ Me,” “Contagious,” “Rock Steady” and many more. The Whispers’ honors include induction into the Vocal Group, Soul Music and R&B Music Hall of Fames, and receiving the Rhythm & Blues Foundation’s Pioneer Award. In 2020, they ended a 14-year recording hiatus with the timely and hopeful single, “How Long.”

The Whispers are pure class. Thank you so much for this interview.
One of the smoothest vocal groups in R & B history . The twins just know how to compliment each other's vocals. They sound so good in concert just like in the studio.
Walter & Scotty!!!
I Love the Whispers to LIFE!!!!
Walter and Scotty are the best...incredible vocals and a class act!
The Whispers had great albums, top choice arrangements and beautiful vocals. All their albums such as Imagination, Headlights, Just Gets Better With Time and the early material from the Janus Period are unmatched 👍

You twins are some bad boys! Times were beautiful back then!
Time has flown by, but your music is still passing from generation to generation. Thank you for unforgettable music.❤
Yes Leon Silvers very talented!!!
Thank you so much for catching up with the Twins! I'm only 47 but I've always loved the Whispers and thought the Twins were cuties even in their older age ❤❤
Congratulations to you More Great music to come love the Whispers 💖
Thanks Scotty and Walter! I love you guys!!!💜 Great interview my brother!!
I miss the whispers on stage...my favorite group. I saw one of the brothers on a plane with me back in the early '80's flying from Los Angeles to Oakland
Great interview with “Scotty & Walter” we have history of the twins they also went to the High School I graduated from “Edison High” in Fresno, California the last we saw them was in concert with “Lenny Williams” in Fresno the twins has just recently loss Nick Caldwell (RIP) I had the pleasure of working on that show! Love Me Sum Whisper ♥️
great songs'! leon silvers', all in the minds', ears', thanks funkin stuff',
I just spent this morning listening to the whispers, nothing like their music around anymore. ❤❤❤❤
I was so lucky to have been a teenager during the S.O.L.A.R era. Great piece Scott.
Thanks for the memories!
One of my all time favorite groups, I was just playing their music the other day in my car. There'll never ever be another whispers only imitators. There's no greater music than Ole school music , I thank Yahuah for Ole school artists & their music. I really don't listen to today's music There's no originality it's more gimmick than talent & everyone sound & look alike. I don't watch award shows because I was tired of the soft porn over sexualized artists with next to nothing talent.
❤️A great, great interview. Thank you. What a storied career. Walter and Scotty are a blessing. Thank you, Lord, for R&B 🙏🏽
So so unsung. The most melodious voices ever. The sound is consistent, Absolutely love these gentlemen and all the members present and past. God bless you all. Thank you for recognizing these gems 💎 😊👍🏽🙏🏽☮️❤️
We love Walter, Scotty and the Whispers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😘
Wow! What legends and inspiration!!!
I love this group and I always will... Mr. Walter and Mr. Scotty, I really hope to meet you someday.... thank you for everything
Just a Memory with Carey Lucas was the hit!
Awesome interview from a kid who grew up in the same neighborhood at the same time, glad I found your channel. Born and raised in L.A. and retired toThailand. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hello. I thoroughly enjoyed your interview with Mr. Walter Scott and Mr. Wallace "Scotty" Scott! They have always been one of my favorite (and unheralded) vocal groups---and one of the classiest, most down-to-earth artists in the industry! Their anecdotes about they how they got started in the business were very insightful and humorous. I especially enjoyed when the brothers discussed how much their father loved it when they would inject the jazzier elements of their talents into their music. One could tell that they were pleased that they had made their dad quite proud! Your excellent questions truly allowed them to reveal a great deal and made for an overall riveting interview. Thank you again and Thank you to The Whispers! Both of you are treasures and we look fwd to their album; it will be undoubtedly, another jewel! God's blessings!
Great conversation with one of my favorite groups of all-time! I found them in 1974 with, “What More Can A Girl Ask For?” I was all of 14 then and I’ve been a Whispers groupie ever since. I also appreciate everything they said about the legendary Leon Sylvers. I was a huge fan of The Sylvers and I continued to follow Leon’s career as a producer. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Maybe it will happen in my lifetime. Thank you Scott for yet another great interview.
YOU NEVER LIED R & B SURE WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE.
Thank You All for this wonderful interview .The Whispers will always be one of a kind in my opinion . The sound of these guys is so sweet and pure the true meaning of R&B Music! Keep Up The Good Work Guys ❗️❗️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

The Whispers are the greatest. I love everything they sing ❤ Love you guys
These my dudes for real. I know every Whispers song riffs runs and all. As a kid I had a mini reel to reel with enough tape to have one song and I would sit in the back of the church with big ass headphones listening to Are You Going My Way over and over.
Thanks for all you do Scott. This interview was everything. You asked excellent questions and I loved their answers. Thanks for hard work and dedication for bringing us these wonderful interviews with R&B legends. Thanks for "Keeping It On The One"1#.
Love the harmony.

The Whispers singer twins' Wallace and Walter Scotts' parents had to be emmensely happy...eventhough they had to do their own thing. These men literally taught us how to feel about women. Nice shout out of my elementary school buddy Kevin Spencer. - SCLA and Watts ❤️

Thank Godness they never asked for ID. When I was teen going to every whisper concert I could.. even was invited backstage for autographed posters.lol... Met these great men.. 100% gentlemen.. respectful/spiritual men🙏..not like other celebrities who fed off of minors😏. See you at the next concert 2022. #1 😍fan4life.
Excellent interview. I appreciated Walter and Scotty's comments about their careers. Their music is cross-generational, with elements of jazz, blues and R&B. They have worked with the major producers and writers in the industry. They have a long history, more 54 years in the music business. I also appreciate that these guys are down to Earth. I have met Walter and Scotty on several occasions and have found that they are real, sincere individuals.
I go to Atlantic City to see you guys. Philly loves you guys
I've always loved the Whispers! Staying true to your style is what keeps you great.

Love This!!! So nice to see them both.👍❤️
Hello...really looking forward to viewing the Scott Brothers interview! The Whispers are one of the classiest and most underrated acts in the business! Considering their copious hits ("Just Gets Better With Time," "Olivia," Rock Steady"; "And The Beat Goes On," etc), it's difficult to believe that they've never won a Grammy! However, their ever-loyal fan base has kept them "rock steady" solid in this most mercurial music business. Thank you and God's blessings to all!

Legendary...thanks for this interview!
Love the Whispers. Have been listening to their music lately and just happened to stumble onto this interview. Thanks, hope to see them live! Was lucky enough to be part of that era of music.
I have been listening to you guys since the 60's. It's been awesome
My twin sister met the group in 1980 at ODELL'S they were so nice. The first record we remembered was " I got too before they noticed me ,we loved them every since.
Most all ltheir songs i loved i will buy the rest i didn't get but i got a lot of THEIR cds, WHAT BEAUTIFUL VOICE THEY HAD WOW!!!!
Love these brothers, and their group is one of a kind. Not just because of the twin aspect of the group. Something in which I've never seen before in any other group. Along with that It was just the lusciousness and soulfulness of the style that makes them unique and beloved. Especially among the black people who have grown up and listened to their music all their lives. So I salute Scotty and Walter and Nick and all the rest of my favorite. And I know for a fact many, many, many, many infinite others favorite group as well.
These brothers were so honest and real. First so them 40 years ago. Awesome then and now. Their Christmas album is still 🔥. Thanks for the interview. Suggestion, Ohio Players, Cameo. Vc

I think the Whispers should be put in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they have out lasted most of all the groups with inspiration and longevity.
Olivia is a true classic..
Loved this interview and glad to know that they still love what they do. Great dedication 😊😅🎉🎉❤
I LOVED The Whispers ! I own 7 albums on vinyl, 3 more on CD. I loved them . ----------1st saw The Whispers in 1972, the farewell concert for Smokey & the Miracles, here in LA, at The Forum, when they opened, & Al Green, in a flaming green shirt, came out next , & nearly caused a riot when he threw that shirt into the front rows. I think it was torn apart, but don't hold me to that. Smokey , Ronnie, Pete & Bobby came out last, & had me in music heaven. Now, about The Whispers, I can't honestly say they made much of an impression. For me, it wasn't until the late 70's, with " And The Beat Goes On " , that I really paid attention. The 80 / 81 album, " in The Raw " really took me in. I loved it. From then on, all through the 80's & early 90's, I was totally into The Whispers. !0000 % , & I am still, to this day. If I could ask Walter or Scotty anything ? My VERY 1st question would be : WHO ----------WHO ! --------is / was, that lady in the video for " I Wanna Know Your name " ???????? OMG, she was so gorgeous, it wasn't fair ! Then, there's that woman in the video of " In The Mood " ! She too, is gorgeous. Who were they, & how did they get into those 2 videos ??? I know, I know, this isn't about the music -------but it really, pretty much, is. My forever best to all members, & any besides Big Nick, who have left us. RIP, Brothers. -----------MJL, 76 y/o-----------PS : I saw The Whispers 6 times & at every one of their shows, the entire world was there--------black, white, Asian, & anyone else -------and we ALWAYS left the show, smiling & happy. That's because their music was smiling & joyous. -----------------------MJL
