Hey man thank you so much for all the great content and this amazing review! You've pretty much sold me on this gimbal but I’m a little confused about the follow focus. Is there a way to have a remote device (Not a phone) for another person to follow focus with? Does this system only provide follow focus with the focus wheel on the gimbal, or is there a way I can have a dedicated focus puller to have an external monitor and a remote such as the ifocus from mozu air 2. I've been looking everywhere to try and get this answered but can't find it anywhere and would love to be sure before I pull the trigger :) Really appreciate any help, thank you so much! :)

Thank you for this tutorial, I am having problems with my Crane 3 Lab, I've upgraded it to V1.90 and then I attempted to upgrade the Servo Motors (Max & Lite) but there is a Yellow light that continues to blink. Have you experienced this problem or can you offer me any assistance? I can't seem to find a number for tech support in the US for this manufacturer.

I've been using the Weebill Lab and quite like it but find it more fiddly than the old Zhiyun v2 tbh. It's sort of better technically but doesn't actually add that much. So tempted to get a bigger one that can just have an a7iii and 24 70 set up without thinking about it. Getting the weebill lab to have the a7iii and a prime actually takes a lot of rebalancing, when I thought it would be pretty simple.. What do you think? I'm guessing you mostly use bigger cameras, whereas I'm somewhere in between an a6500 and bigger setups with the a7iii.

Hey Ali...can you please elaborate about the values you are assigning to the motor settings? I have tried the preset options as well as custom values but can't seem to get rid of jitters while even doing a slow walk, trying to analyse what I might be doing wrong here. Im using the BMPCC 4k with the Tilta cage (offset to the last 1/4 screw hole closest to battery) and paired it with a Helios 58mm mounted through a Viltrox M4/3 to EF converter. I own a Move M10 too but BMPCC 4k is too wide to fit without a modification which is why I decided to buy the Crane 3 lab but havent had any success in shots where I'm physically moving.

One thing I’ve found is that if I update my gimbal settings for tilt, pan, etc. motor speed and such in the app via scene modes - I’m able to save my settings but if I disconnect my phone and restart the gimbal (without my phone connected) it defaults to some other settings slow motor speed settings. So if I want to use my custom speed settings and scene modes my phone HAS to be connected - really annoying. Have you had this issue or found a way to save your settings regardless of your phone being connected?

i just spent two days using this gimbal on a production. i must say i hated using it. the PF and L button being in the front kept getting pressed, the joystick was in a very bad position and i would continuously press it while switching hand positions and needing to reset the camera position. all of those should have been on the main handle with an option to turn the front buttons on or off. the quick release adapter for the tripod is not very secure and would move enough to cause a jitter in the footage when switching angles. i do love the axis locks, i primarily use a Moza Air 2 and wish it had that. using both of these units with a BMPCC4k and Canon Eos R. The new moza air 2 come with a case, and i also this that the focus and zoom system is better with the wireless remote for the MOZA. did you find any of these issues?

You can run with a Movi M5/10/15/Pro or do slow shots all with one setting - no switching to "sport mode" - the Movis just have one mode, and it covers everything perfectly - adjustments on Movi are for preference of smoothness vs direct control, not to avoid it being too rough or too slow - which it never is. Which brings me to how well Majestic mode feels - their algorithms are spot-on neither too robotic nor too rough - every time. Zhiyun's are good, but not as amazing - and again force you to choose one type/speed of movement per shot - and some shots are many types at once. The motors on the ZYiyun are less powerful - period, which means they will let you down in more cases than the Movi's will - for example try holding a Zhiyun out the window of a fast moving car - it won't work. Even running too fast often does not work. Any Movi is aware of compass heading, satellites, have a huge number of sensors and accelerometers that feed info continuously- more than any of the "stick gimbals". These aded sensors won't make the shot better every time, but they often will - to me gear is great because I can count on every time - not just that one time. I want as much freedom as possible to do any type of shots I want, and that's what our M10 gives me. You can also use a Spektrum remote, a Mimic Beta, Alpha Wheels.... The Zhiyun has no such sophisticated remote options, and is not really able to be securely mounted as a remote head on a jib, car, cable system, etc. because of that single screw mount. A good grip would not even let you do it, and plus it woudl slip around, and plus the remote control is not nearly as good as a Spektrum DX8, let alone a Minic or Alpha Wheels... And I could go on.. As for ease of "getting out" it comes out of the case, you turn it on, you balance. Balancing is what it is (same on all gimbals) . I'm down to 2 minutes from closed case to ready to balance on my M10. The only difference is that the Movi does mean a bigger case. Once rigged I can clip out Movi M10 on and off a huge variety of rigs in seconds using they amazing Toad-in-the-Hole system. But... Why take my word for it. On huge Hollywood sets, the Movi is the most common tool found, and the M5 is not radically different from an M10 or a Pro (which have been used on a huge number of blockbusters). I have never, ever seen principle photography done on a stick gimbal. EVER. Now you can say we're a bunch of snobs at the higher end, but really we will use whatever works as well as anything else (we use old plastic milk delivery cartons to carry lots of things, consumer clothespins to attach gels, etc.) and whatever is cheapest and still gets the job done as well. Yet... We don't use stick gimbals.

Robert it's important to point out that the gear does not make the filmmaker but the other way around. Use the best gear you can afford, learn from what you use to be better at the craft, and expand your gear when you can. It doesn't matter what the big productions use, its how they used it and try get the same results with what you have. The important thing is to go shoot, no matter if it's a C200 or an iPhone.
