Музыка

This extreme truss rod adjustment electric guitar video is different!
Is it possible to crack the guitar neck by overtightening or overlosening the truss rod? How many turns on the truss rod does the guitar survive?
Can you destroy your electric guitar with a bad truss rod adjustment?
Find it out in this video! I show you what happens if you overturn the truss rod and the difference between a concave and a convex fretboard.

I know you're just joking around, but for some reason this video was more helpful in understanding truss behavior than many other videos

My Squier P Bass with a jazz neck had very high action when I got it at a pawn shop 2019. I paid $50 which is a real deal. when I got it home, the truss rod was all the way loose. I tightened it and sure enough the action got much lower and actually dialed in nicely. then this summer 2023, I noticed that the high action returned, I keep the allen wrench (4MM) in the case, 4 times now I have had to tighten it each time a 1/4th of a turn, is the wood compressing?

There can be a lot of reasons for your situation. In my country it´s very hot and we have high humidity in summer. It´s almost up to 55%. In winter it´s very cold and we have to heat the apartment which causes low humidity down to 25%. That huge differences change the playability and the string action. Usually I have to adjust my guitars twice per year. Maybe humidity controls your guitar as well

I would love to learn how to do setup on my Ibanez guitars but it freaks me out. I currently have one of my Ibanez guitars at a luthier doing new strings and having the action lowered. My other I would like to do myself but again truss rod adjustment isn't something I am comfortable with.

take your time and simply try it out! if you go step by step you will get it done. It´s a learning process...after a few small adjustments you´ll know what is perfect for you

Thing is, the wood is pretty strong. I was taking the fretboard of my 7 string recently and I was trying to break the fingerboard, and believe me, I couldn't really do it. Even just the fretboard is extremely durable.

I made three adjustments in a row they where very minor tho, the action is pretty low right now. If the truss rod broke would it be obvious?

Any truss rod adjustment, where you have to tighten it, should be done with strings all the way loose. Then make adjustments, and tighten back to being in tune, up to pitch.

or with kramers barreta specials or epiphone tobias deluxe bass, on wich i overtightened and the truss rod nut came off because the neck was not backbowing enough to handle 50-110 bass strings

Awesome! Thanks for taking one for the team so we don't have to risk breaking our guitars ;) haha Ibanez guitars are tough mofos! But it just goes to show that you don't need to go to a luthier's unless it really scares you. Shred on!

Truss rod adjustments need to be made very gradually, over days. The guitar takes time to adjust to any changes. Don’t EVER crank down on a truss rod.

I just found out you can go back and forth as much as you want. The cracking happens when the truss rod is stiff and you continue to turn it. I did it and the neck cracked days after. Scared me away for years lol.
