Their facts are limited to bumper stickers, lawn signs, ads and clothing slogans. That is the depth to which they seek or even desire facts. They will even dismiss their own reality. They will say things like...my state has low taxes. And ignore that they lack public services like garbage pickup unless they pay for it. They will say we want less government and then vote for candidates that add...another agency like Homeland Security or Space Force.

If you don't have children and you want to know what it's like arguing with a toddler, this is a good example. No matter how calm you stay, as David did, the child just keeps rambling the same, incoherent point, as the caller did.

Whether they're willing to admit it or not I think a lot of right-wingers in the US understand on some level that they have a bit of an image problem at this point. I remember something similar around the time of the 2012 election where they were all calling themselves Libertarians.

Especially after they've had a few beers. Everything Bobby said, including the way he said it, is my friend after 8 beers. His MAGA brain LOCKS into "sneering" mode, where he can only think of and project "sneering" responses out of his mouth. When you (easily) sink his fallacies with calm, clear, rebuttals, he not only cuts you off, he never really processed what you were saying at all, because he already has a hard time doing this sober. I saw this segment live, and I kept thinking about what a phone call between this guy and his girlfriend must sound like.

Bobby should really schedule another appointment with his therapist.

No, I think Bobby really doesn't understand. His IQ is probably in the 80s, he's probably also poorly educated, and he's been programmed by his right-wing bubble. I think Bobby was going to try and say that The Doomsday Clock has moved closer to midnight under Biden, therefore Trump was a better president, "Boom! I [Bobby] win!"

David ASTOUNDS me. Im a SERIOUS DEVOUT Christian. As such, I know the fruits of the Spirit: Patience, kindness, slow to anger, etc., though I immensely appreciate David's disposition, its also an embarrassment when athiests, especially famous Atheists like David, behave far more Christ-like than most who CLAIM to be Christian. Not that that caller claimed hes Christian...Im only referring to David's behavior twd him...and David is consistently treats his fellow man with this same respect & patience. An example of his respectable behavior ALSO includes how he RARELY talk over others. The person has to be as ridic as THAT guy b4 David just has to talk। over him & eventually cut the line. Ari Melber, for example, talks over ppl all the time. David RARELY does so.

Yes! Bobby had this “gotcha point” he ultimately wanted to make (that he no doubt thought was brilliant), but in order to make it, he needed David to say that Trump was going to blow up the world, or that Trump shouldn’t be allowed near the nuclear football. But David didn’t say that… and so poor Bobby was left scrambling.

As a father of four, I can tell you that the interaction with Bobbie was a kin to arguing with a toddler. The discussion goes nowhere because they only want to hear their side of the story and they get frustrated by their own lack of knowledge and understanding. He was not interested in debating you, he just wanted you to hear him. I have enormous patience with children when they want to discuss something, but I have no patience for adults that want to behave like children but be treated like adults. Every time the GOP get together, it is like the preschoolers just got let out.
