To be honest, the dementia is the least of my problems with Trump. Like, if Trump was 40 years old right now, I still wouldn’t vote for him because of his EXTREME narcissism. It’s ridiculous to have a guy like him lead a country, which involves doing good things for other people.

My grandma (God rest her soul) lived until she was 91. She lived on her own, took care of herself, and was out gardening walking and just living life up until 3 1/2 weeks before she passed away. So just because President Biden is 81 does not mean he can’t fulfill the job. In my opinion, he’s been doing a hell of a lot better than diaper Don did.

My stepdad had dementia in his final years. The two things I noticed -- confusing generations of people. He would think of my mother as his mother instead of his wife. When my Mom had a stroke, he took me to see her. At the receptionist, he described me as his brother. The other mistake he was making was using the wrong word -- where the word was related by sound alone. He told me to turn off the 'letter', rather than the 'light'. In the case of my stepfather, these problems started at the age of 80 (he retired when he felt he couldn't have a proper conversation anymore) and evolved slowly, but accelerated about 8-9 years later, coming to conclusion at 12 years. Trump is making the sorts of mistakes my stepdad was making at about the 8 year mark.

As an old coot myself, it seems that we demand more out of older folk. Meaning, we expect them to speak fast and be artificially excited like tiktok maniacs. Back before mass media, just as with music videos that killed the radio star, the elderly participated quite well in the making of policy and sharing of wisdom. At home, in politics, world affairs and every aspect of life. We in America have lost respect for the elderly at our loss. Its incredible how our yewts think that age is a disease. Incredible and sad. As a child I loved the elderly. I learned a tremendous amount sitting, talking and watching them. We had the patience to allow them to speak, to move and to think. To allow the wisdom to flow to us. We don't have the patience today. Too bad, and dangerously sad. Good luck kids. That stove is always hot and ready for you to lay your hand on.
