If 99% of us had a $5,000 bond, and requested it be reduced to $1,750, and delayed for 10 days, we'd be hauled away to jail!!! Justice denied, AGAIN!

I think they've got it in the bag this time because that's exactly an argument the man who wears a squirrel on his head would use to try and put off his trial for longer. They have put his bond down to a "measly" 175 Million to crush that argument. They also must have many more arguments up their sleeves that will slam him. Just wait. The man wearing a squirrel on his head is finally being pushed into a corner he cannot escape. They've seen him squirrel out so many times that this time they've come prepared.

To play devils advocate this is unprecedented territory being an ex president is the defendant so they are looking like they don't know how to deal with it. But this is a bond for an appeal which he won't win because the evidence is not going to change. It's just another delay tactic. Democracy has it's drawbacks.

@@mahaffer71 to answer your question in a very simplistic way, the NY AG is the plaintiff in this case (the one suing) because there is a NY law that gives the state of NY the ability to sue over fraud. it's actually really interesting, so I recommend reading the judgment for a good summary and history of the law. it's called Executive Law § 63(12). PBS has a copy of it that you can read, I just googled "trump new York fraud case" and went to the PBS result

The Republican Party has been slithering down the slippery slope towards installing a christo-fascist dictatorship in America for decades. In 1950 Wisconsin Republican Senator Joseph R. McCarthy used fear-mongering about communists and socialists to attempt to install an authoritarian regime in America. This was all of 5 years after Americans had fought and died to help protect the world from Adolf Hitler's totalitarian dictatorship. This is EXACTLY what Trump has been doing, using socialists and communists as boogeymen to frighten his followers. Republican president Nixon literally tried to steal an election, and was pardoned by his vice president instead of facing justice. This is EXACTLY what Trump wants and intends to do with the 2024 election. Trump has pardoned some of his co-conspirators (like Manafort and Roger Stone), and then there are Trump's pardons-for-sale, costing some people $2 million dollars a pardon. Republican president Reagan got help from a hostile foreign country (Iran) to win an election. This is EXACTLY what Trump did, when on July 27th 2016 Trump yowled for Russian interference in America's election process, by saying, "Russia, if you're listening, I hope that you can find the 30k emails. I'm sure that you will be rewarded mightily by our press, if you do so." Reagan undermined America's middle class and lower class citizens in favor of moneyed interests and corporations. This is EXACTLY what Trump did, permanently cutting taxes for the ultra-rich while the tax cuts for the average Americans are going to expire next year. Republican president George Dubya Bush stated IN PUBLIC, TWICE, that "This'd be a whole lot easier if this was a dictatorship, just as long as I'm the dictator!" This is EXACTLY what Trump is doing, expressing his admiration for Putin, Kim Jong Un, Orban, and Trump openly claims that he wants to be dictator, for "one" day. The Republicans have been undermining America's democracy for at least 70 years. It's the Republican Party that drew the step-by-step road map for Trump to install a christo-fascist dictatorship over America.

It's true, it was just a past time or it is just past time. Definitely it was a long past time. I really think Trump was told by Russian operatives as well as the GOP how to beat the system. Putin had legitimate grievances like stopping him from recreating the Soviet Union. Russians hated Mikhail Gorbachev and call him a traitor to this day. Putin and the KGB had an actual way through all the loopholes in American justice long held dear by the the Department of Justice. Trump was 1/2 way there and got in with his hate speeches against the "Fake Media". Trust is gone, Trump knocked it all down one brick at a time perfectly as if it was planned all along [it was]. Everyone let in on this grand plan knew it was locked in as a win for Trump. The grand conspiracy where huge financial payouts was the motivation. Republican lawyers got into their careers because of greed. Not hard to get on board a sure bet winner. The Christians were always on board. Controlling women's abortions, even if they are not Christian [most are not Christian by the way] is all they wanted and they got it. Doesn't matter that most States allow for abortion and hasn't really changed anything, Christians are nothing but push overs anyways. They still think the Earth is 6000 years old even though the Bible doesn't even tell you how old the Earth is. They think December 25th is Christ's birthday. Some even believe the Earth is flat. Now they say Jesus was too weak to be god and a gun in every hand is what Jesus would have wanted? Clearly, the truth, who Jesus clearly says is the only one true path, will leave most self proclaiming Christians on the road to hell probably. It's a gamble but they are not supposed to gamble. Nah, Trump stopped abortions and says he's Christian. They will vote Trump. They are too busy being slaves to put much more into it. The truth doesn't put bread on the table in their rose coloured glasses world. Voting Blue will end Trump if people get out and vote. Democracy will continue but America will always have Democratic rule on the ropes. We are only one election away from a total autocratic dictatorship with one man calling all the shots. Putting your full support behind Trump only means one thing, you are not a patriot, Don't drape yourself with the flag and then proudly claim you support Trump saying he will be a dictator on the 1st day. Like John Stewart said on the Daily Show, "That's how it starts".

They claim membership in two imaginary parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, instead. Both imaginary parties are bossed by Winners. When Republicans battle Democrats, this much is certain: Winners will win." Meaning: the Judges are Winners. They side with other Winners. The Losers - us - have no place in their calculation.
