    I usually don’t upgrade till I see your video and I thought I had missed it this time. Had an issue with the boot taking awhile and got an alert about drives missing, but it came up fine. Had issues with Nextcloud, but that happens every upgrade. There’s an “upgrade” command and sometimes it gets stuck in maintenance mode. Nice bug fix is alerts clear now :)

    How is scale for adding custom udev configs? I have zigbee and Z-Wave adapters attached to a Debian Bullseye system that I needed to make sure always appeared as /dev/zigbee0 and /dev/zwave0 for the zigbee2mqtt & zwavejs2mqtt containers as the OS would never initialize them in the same order so /dev/ttyACM0 could be either one and the wrong device would be connected to the wrong container. If Scale is like Core with tmpfs getting created at boot, then I can't just add to /etc/udev/rules.d.

    Just upgraded to Dragonfish from core and was having a lot of trouble getting Plex working. The application would launch but would act more like a client web UI than a server. I found after some trouble shooting the Claim Token was expiring before the application got past the deployment phase. Your videos have been so helpful to me and I think if you made an updated one on Plex touching on this topic it would be helpful to newbie’s like me enjoy this platform even more. Thanks again for all you do!

    I migrated from Core to Scale a few months ago. The biggest thing it solved was the app issues under Core. I didn't even know at the time that Scale was running on Linux instead of BSD. So I was even more pleased with the migration. Now my only problem is lack of disk space. And I've been running since the days of FreeNAS 0.7 or so...

    Did they ever reimplement novnc or set an adjustable timer for the display in the spice display? The first beta version would sign you out after 2 minutes and was frustrating having to input a new password everytime.

    With the new ZFS cache limit will it also scale down the used ram when starting applications? I’ve had the problem that my system would get so low on “free” ram that the webui would crash.

    Updating to dragonfish seem to have fixed my apps issue from version 23. Anytime I would reboot truenas (not that often) my apps would not start and would not show. I would have to go into advanced settings and uncheck the GPU support box. From there apps would appear like normal and I could start my apps again. After this update it seems fine as it started up and showed my apps without any issues. I haven't rebooted to test more though.

    Just submitted a bug report, majority of my drives disappears with Dragonfish leaving me with 2 out of 5 pools - and of course one of the offline pools contains the system dataset.. Somehow this tank of an OS still booted enough to show me it's not going to work. Sadly I cannot generate a debug so the folks at truenas had me generate one from 23.10 (which boots normally). What's weird is some missing drives are from my NetApp shelf and some are missing from my onboard SATA - so I'm clueless what the common denominator is. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else.

    I installed dragonfish and multiple apps from truenas but a lot constantly restart instantly. Have you done a video on troubleshooting kubernetes? I can't get the official grafana plugin to successfully start nor frigate. I have no idea how to begin troubleshooting with truenas. I assume i have to use k3s because the gui is just saying backing off starting container.

    Firefox 125.0.3 (64 bit) and previous version will not open the netdata button inside the Truenas Reports. MS Edge will open the same just fine. So be aware if some button does not work in the Truenas GUI, try edge and see if it works there or if Edge will show an error. I think it is more of a Firefox is broken issue than a Truenas or Dragonfish issue.

    all my apps stopped working when I upgraded. Reason was that I had ACL with SMB on top of the data pool and that does not work with kubernetes. MY fault entirly so I deleted them and set them on lover stages of the pool and all apps started working right away. Lesson learned for me.

    The problem with qbittorrent is due to lack of memory. With the available 16GB of memory, I have to reboot the server after downloading files using qbittorrent. The problem is that TrueNAS SCALE has 2 GB swap by default. Changing the GUI does not change its size.

    Unfortunately the virtualization if apps through the kubernetes is almost terrible. It lacks clear way to provide the vApp with external IP and any resource monitoring. Also the containers are not stable and reliable. I dont understand why they moved to K3S kubernetes if dockers was working perfectly.

    Hi Tom, can I suggest that you communicate more clearly which products you are referencing. For example, it's very difficult to tell which "applications" you are referring to in the last segment of your video...especially since you were referring to what is considered 'core' functionality that is supported well by TrueNAS Core (NFS, iSCSI, SMB).

  • @LAWRENCESYSTEMS

    @LAWRENCESYSTEMS

    The applications are under "Applications" section of the NAS and the core functionality are features of the NAS that apps are not needed for, not sure how to make that more clear.
