Welcome to demo performances ... they do it this way so singers learn their part (all the notes and dynamics are exactly what's in the score) while the blandness of the singing encourages (nay, obliges) singers to add their own interpretation ... because anything would be better than that pap. (The choir I sing in did this piece, and it was amazing!)
