Trucking Market Crash Happening Now: Haven’t Been Paid In A Month

OTR Trucking has taken a turn for the worst. The trucking market is at its low and trucking loads are not paying good money. Guys I have not been paid in the last month from my company. Although I'm upset over this slight set back I blame the market for the razor thin profit margins that we are seeing across the country.

I've been the victim of wage theft, also. It was a guy that knew he was going through a bankruptcy. He knew he was about to lose his trucks and let run for him, knowing full well he wasn't gonna pay me. He always had an excuse. He told me the company he was contracted to hadn't sent the check. I found out later thar they only do direct deposit. He got paid for the work I did. This was a black preacher. Don't trust anyone. He got me for 2 and a half weeks.

I don’t need much now because I have no debt so I’m content with what I make now. 2500 a week is good with fuel taking out and it’s good for me maybe not good for others but for me I’m good because I love my freedom to do what ever I want

I finished my training with Swift Transportation and drove solo for a month before having a couple of minor accidents involving the trailers, and got fired. I’m now thinking of driving a box truck. I’ve searched Indeed and Glass Door for 26’ 23,000 lb. box truck owner-operator positions (located in “remote”, so as to find OTR positions). There seem to be a lot of dispatching companies out there looking for O/O. According to the ads, you can earn UP TO $10,000 per week (UP TO $14,000 per week for T/T O/O), with some companies. That’s even better than the oilfield money, and without the physical labor. Now, I don’t know how often that actually happens, but still, sounds like they can keep you busy. For the 26,000 lb, 2-axel, 26’ box truck, you don’t even need a CDL.

I’ve made a half-hearted attempt to get hired on driving tractor trailers again, but, between hating the rejection when they say “no”, and tired of getting stressed out as I neared my destination (because I still couldn’t back properly - though, seriously, I did lose a full 10 lbs. within that month, with all of those “get-out-and-looks” that it took me!), I’ll first see if this straight-truck thing will work out for me.

Luckily Ive never had an issue on not getting paid when I was company driving but I would keep an eye on the fuel card, if I would ever have ANY issue on getting fuel then that meant they were having financial issues and I was out of that company soon as I returned and got my check so they wouldn't hold it over my head and not pay me bc I didn't put my 2 weeks notice in. There's many shady companies in trucking unfortunately and you always have to keep an eye out for any financial issues they might have or you won't get paid

Former slaves WOULD have received reparations, in the form of giving the former slave plantations to the former slaves, when Republican President Lincoln was still president, but after he was assassinated, his former Vice President, Andrew Johnson, a Democrat, immediately nixed that plan. That’s another reason why blacks became Republican. I’d recommend that you don’t wait around on reparations. If the Democrats/ former Confederate states/ descendants of the former slave holders were going to pay the reparations that they owe you, they would have by now. Or, move to California. They are paying slave reparations. And they were NEVER a slave state. I have never heard what measures they are taking to prevent post-slavery black immigrants from taking what rightly belongs to the descendants of slaves. Must be nice to be such a rich state that they can afford to pay out reparations when they were never a slave state.
