    We have this as a training video in my bus recertification class. It scared all of us for the kids and that driver. Driver finally was able to stop way down the road and he hurt no one.

    I had a close call years ago with a bus. Pretty much the same situation. I was scared to death. I was ready to put into the ditch, but the bus pulled into a driveway. Thank God they saw and heard me. This really brought back that day. 😢😢😢😢

    The kids were safe that day for you and the kids were safe for him. I don't think on a daily basis people think about the truckers who move everything in our country for us for the most part and how scary it can be out there and what can go wrong. Deserve more appreciation for sure

    As a school bus driver and CDL trainer, I appreciate you. I drive a 40ft transit, I've had lots of experience with truckers helping me out in various ways on the road. I'm always ready to help make their trip a little easier if I can as well. Just holding back at a narrow intersection so the other can make the turn is an act of kindness that other drivers don't understand.

    As a city bus driver ...I seen a few things while out on the road myself people really don't understand what we go through being out on the roads nor the risks we take.....and it burns me up when people say "YOUR JOB IS EASY YOU JUST DRIVE"🤦‍♀️it's soooo much more being behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle if only they knew just how much so.....I'm so grateful I haven't been involved in any accidents in 23yrs🙏and I'm glad you made it through as well no commercial driver wants anything major such as an accident on their record and we surely don't want to have to live with taking a life....stay safe to all drivers not just commercial drivers🙏

    For what I know, the Chevy backed up and ended up hitting the white one behind him, I guess he then resigned to prayer because there was no time to make a good turn to the side and no way he would go back so... Only God could help, and a good cleaning service because that driver's seat is gonna need a deep cleaning after they shat themselves in pure fear

    I used to drive a school bus. I’m so shocked the bus driver just sat there. Inexcusable on the bus drivers part. Where I lived, we went through extensive classroom and road training. We were taught about the signals truckers use to send out the warning something was really wrong. So, if you ever hear anything like this from a trucker, get out of the way immediately!! No matter what kind of vehicle you’re in. It can mean the difference between life and death.

    @@DarkNugget39 the truck's brakes failed, or just couldn't stop in time. Look up "truck runaway ramp" and you'll see lots of examples of big trucks having to go off the road because their brakes failed. They make runaway ramps for these situations on highways, so that less people get hurt. In this video the driver was terrified because he couldn't stop in time and there was an entire school bus full of children in front of him

    @@DarkNugget39 also I have a feeling that the reason all the cars were stopped is bc when the bus has the stop signs it’s the law that all cars stop to keep the kids getting of the bus safe. If all the cars had been moving whilst the bus was parked that would have been catastrophic

    I’ve watched this video a few times and commended the driver every time. But this time it really hit me hard how the kids were just like “oh that scared me” when the situation was so much more dire than they knew at the time. Bless the driver’s quick reaction and thinking.

    Mad respect to the truck driver who’s first instincts were to yell “stop- no!!” and honk to alert them because the school bus still had the stop sign and he was trying desperately not to hit the bus or the car. Also props to the bus driver because that must be so stressful❤

    I mean in that scenario, you may not be thinking straight, but wouldn't going off road and hitting something that didn't have people in it be better (if there hadn't been a gap) than hitting any of the vehicles? And jump out before collision and hope you make it?

    Excellent driving skills would be after lowering gear… he should move like 5 km/h or even slower (I’m not sure about top speed at the lowest gear in trucks with ~16 gears but it should be really slow)

    @@luiseduardovaldivia3510 thats why you have know how to drive a truck with too much weight, especially the weight in those type of trailers, to go down in a slope you have to chose a gear where the engine brake holds you without using the air brakes too much, if you feel that you are using the air brakes too much, you hit the brake pedal until the rpm’s go about 1000 to 1100 change to a two lower gears, sometimes when you do that, if you don’t stop the truck enough to make that change of gear you can miss the gear an the truck will neutralize and because you are in a slope the truck will be accelerating, so, what you have to do when that happens is hit the whole brake pedal, try to stop the truck as much a you can and try to put a gear in the engine and use the engine brake Now of course, always take your distance from the vehicle in front of you, if you see the stop lights of the vehicle and it looks like is going to be a complete stop, take your distance and time to stop the truck

    Where did you expect them to go? They were innocently stopped for a school bus when all of a sudden possible sudden death is bearing down on them. Could have been pure panic. Remember, you have the advantage of seeing the video from the truck driver's perspective, so you knew what was happening right away. The people sitting there were just doing their daily routine. The Chevy driver could have been focused on the bus waiting for them to retract their stop arm and didn't notice in time.

    There are other videos with more of the dash cam footage from the front of the bus. The Chevy quickly went in reverse to back up and ended up hitting the white car behind them, but it made just enough space for the trucker to get through.

    The sound of his voice. You can tell how scared he was. He did such a good job avoiding the other vehicles. Thank goodness no one was harmed. This could have been a lot worse.

When Doffy was contrling him with strings This man is not in control of the truck right now Thats a 7% slope hill, and he was legally doing 55 over a blind hill The bus technically shouldn't legally have a bus stop right there, cuz almost no commercial or military vehicle could stop in this situation with any load The judge would seriously say "im glad no one is hurt, but there is no fault on the trucker here". Had the kids been hit, the story changes cuz CDL handbook tells them to avoid the accident. And going off road, so please dont think thats the answer. Its a final resort And in a neighborhood, he couldn't even try going off road Hed be in someones house

    When you realize your truck has just become an unforgiving, devastating killing machine, and the world decided to put a school bus in your path. The fear and mental anguish in that immediate moment met with the desperation to have any form of control...this man was forced into a true fight or flight response, and when pleading did nothing, he pulled through. Bless this man for making it out of one of the most horrifying moments anyone with a heart can be forced into.

    @@tobiasa9071there were kids stood up and getting off the bus, if they had just suddenly started reversing to try and get out of the way that may have caused more issues, if anything they should stay put and the cars on the other side of the road should’ve bailed off to the side of the road as there was space and they’re driving vehicles that should have no problem off roading, it’s hard to think quickly in this situation as you do know how other people will react to try and get out of the way so yeah props to that truck driver for driving so well while completely panicking

    @@coni7392 yes. Everyone was there, just watching and commenting. Could have made it a lot easier for the truck driver if they only drove in the grass. And people are defending them. "It was a split second" -no it wasnt. "They were panicking" -no they werent. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    If he was a good man he would have checked his equipment properly that day to make sure it was all functional. He was not doing his job properly and his inattention and inability to do his job properly almost cost the lives of a bunch of children. He's not a good man.

    ​​@@robertvogel9849Even if he did take notice of any faults on the truck, I'm pretty sure it's the responsibility of the company that owns the truck to make sure it actually gets fixed. Don't think you can own a dumptruck the same way you can own a rig, if at all.

    @@sunetvardsky8685 power poles, trees on both sides, ditch on either side. no field in site. doesn't take much to roll a truck pulling off the hard shoulder onto grass/dirt. especially if the ground is soft. trucks are super heavy and will sink first chance they get.

    Imagine how scary it is to have broken breaks in a truck, you are literally on a tank, you know that if you hit ANYTHING the chance of that surviving is minimal and you literally can't do anything other than warn others and try to dodge the cars

    @@corymc92 trucks don't handle anything like cars, they take much longer to turn. With a space that thin, yes on a normal car it would've been fine. But on a semi? He had to time that turn perfectly to miss both the truck and the bus.

Some company loaded a driver all on one side he was tipping to that side and their company had to call a crane because he was already 30 miles from their company. Like it's so dumb what I hear. Surprisingly brakes failing happens more than what I would've liked to know.

    Kudos to this driver!! Not only did his quick thinking alert everyone nearby so those that could move, could.. but his aggressively attentive (and attentively aggressive) driving narrowly saved every one of those lives.

    I would of ( maybe he did and didn't work) dumped the air out of the system as on those trucks they use air to hold the breaks open. On air break is press the pedal to let the air out to release pressure and on hydraulic like on cars press to make pressure. Then would have done it with the horn the whole time.
