    Thank god I found your video. After burning my hours at the training yard I couldn’t figure it out, but after watching this video I got to the training yard and it just clicked. I now feel comfortable backing up the trailer a whole block if I have to thank you sir, cause most KZread videos really don’t teach people anything.

    Man I been working at a coal mine since February and just got moved up to a mobile equipment specialist driving end dumps and haulers. The hauler has a trailer and I’ve never really pulled or backed one. This is good advice thank you for explaining this. 💯✊🏾

    I’m no truck driver but I can see how this could be difficult. I saw another KZreadr explain it like this. Don’t put your steering hand(s) on the TOP of the steering wheel when backing up but instead put them on the BOTTOM of the steering wheel. That way turning the steering wheel left turns the trailer left, etc. he started out showing it with a boat on a trailer hooked to an suv but said the same rule applies to all trailer hookups. Made sense to me. I drive my car like that too… hand in bottom of steering wheel.

    Do more videos on backing up please. Since you backup alot throughout the day, you can teach us new drivers many of the little details that trip us up. For example I struggle with lining up the rear of the trailer with the dock. I have a hard time pulling up and backing up to perfectly align the trailer with the dock. I get it into the dock but there is a slight angle with the warehouse crew tells me it isn't parallel to the dock.

  • @SgtMackUSMC

    @SgtMackUSMC

    Most docks have the yellow stripes in the padding…I keep my trailer in between those stripes….or the bumpers on the docks…it might take some pull ups to get it straight… Then a slow steady back….repetition my friend…you will conquer it

    It's kinda hard because reversing a trailer functions like a car in some areas, but th trailer have a mind of it's own. To turn left with the trailer means Turning the wheel left, and for the right is the opposite(turn the wheel left).

    When it’s trouble on the left or right do you just quater turn and hold it for a second and let it gradually straighten

  • @bones1492
    @bones14928 ай бұрын

    Just turn steering wheel toward whatever (edit: rear trailer) tire starts to show up more in the mirror. You’ll get a feel for how much to turn and when to center wheel back up. You should only need minor corrections while backing.

    In school they teach you hands at bottom of wheel and you turn going up so if I want trailer go right I turn wheel upwards counter clockwise and vice versa to go left...this is to confusing my brain can't grasp...i think that's wrong. Am I supposing to looking for where the back of the trailer or the front of the trailer going? I'm not sure which way your turning your wheel from top to bottom or bottom to top

    I took it as you are slightly would slowly turn the wheel because you are moving it may not take much to bring to where you want to be. It maybe as little as a 1/16 depending on how much room and distance to your goal.
