Truck Camping near Las Vegas for FREE to escape the heat

This weekend we go on our FIRST desert camping experience for a quick overnight trip into BLM Land (Bureau of Land Management) where we found a free camp spot down a long dirt road (Lee Canyon Rd off 156) - 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas, we drive into the mountains where its 20 degrees COOLER.
We go over our truck camping gear and show off some of our camp upgrades for the desert. It felt great getting out of the city and into some nature! Great food, gear and good times ~

Just subscribed and it's clear I am late to the party. Hope you are still posting. However I did want to say how impressed I am with your ability to fold that shower/bathroom popup. I got so mad at mine I used it once and threw it away.

@@Kadenventures I moved from Southern California for Henderson NV (which is about 20 minutes south of Vegas) back in 2015. I love the lesser cost of living AND the freedom Nevada has over California, mainly 2A... Well the real reason I am writing to you is about Ur Duralast battery jumper, is it the 800amp Or the 2000amp? I drive a 2011 ford expedition king ranch with the 5.4li V8, if you have a recommendation. I am planning some deep BLM week long at a time camping trips. I want to learn as much offgrid camping as possible. Which leads to my next question. How amps do you think I may need for 7 nights of laptop use with a Verizon JetPack wifi and a dometic, which Ur video turned me onto my purchasing a dometic. My two heat sources will be a wood burning stove inside a yurt canvas tent with stove jack Or ofcourse propane heater which i'm a little unsure of due to condensation. I'm gonna setup the yurt and scotchguard the hell out of the outside & inside, even tho the description reads waterproof from the factory.

@@michaelsaintjude Hi Michael! Love Henderson for those exact reasons! That sounds like an awesome trip to come, have a great time out there! The jumper pack I have was about $99 I believe its the 1000amp. I've had isseus with it when my battery was completely drained (3 weeks in the vegas heat with no starting = DEAD) so I was able to jump it from a FULL charge off the jumper pack but had to re-charge the truck battery using a charger. You should be ok with this type of jumper, especially if its not going to be super hot(or extreme cold) and your only offgrid for a week or so at a time with your truck sitting still. Regarding Battery for your laptop, etc. I have a 500 Watt battery but i wish I had a larger one, if I had to buy one again i'd go with the 1000 with some solar panels if i'm off grid for a while (ex. Jackery 1000 with the foldable solar panels). It'll keep your laptop batteries topped for a few days as long as your not using it for heated blankets or blenders lol you should be good there but again test it out when you get it before you get out to get a better idea of how much battery usage you may need. Cheers! And have a great time out there!

Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos 🤙🏽🤙🏽 I got rid of it bec we got tired of folding in a roof top tent, we wanted something quicker to setup take down and hang out in the truck bed when the weather is crappy (we camp a lot so the easier the better) and the GFC fit the bill 🏕cheers!

Thanks Oscar! Glad you found the channel! I got the bed rack from Yakima, they are called Bedrock HD (low profile version). You have to buy the cross bars and Bed rails separate and these unfortunately werent cheap ($600 for both items) but they were the only ones I found in Alaska when we were living there. Link to the cross bars: amzn.to/3yNK6PI Link to the bed rails: amzn.to/3ITpg5W The low profile cross bars worked well to keep gear secured (you cant pull big boxes out when the tailgate is locked) but your gear is still exposed on the sides. If i had to do this setup again i'd get something I can run a truck bed cover underneath the cross bars with like realtruck.com/p/retraxpro-xr-tonneau-cover/rtx-t-80383/

Your not wrong! haha That brush is awesome and one of the best brushes we've ever used on our dog (damn near takes a whole dog off her! lol) I have a small Air compressor for when I air down to do some overlanding trails with the truck, its by Viaair for about $80 or something. What do you normally use the Dewalt compressor for?

@@Kadenventures It has 2 side for different modes, one for tire pressure and the other inflates more quickly. We use that side to inflate a air mattress and inflatable kayak. We have a Napier bed tent for our truck , pull out the bed boxes then inflate the air mattress and pop up the tent. We’re heading to canyon lands so lots of sand, take the tires down to about 15 lbs. Nice for you to show your checklist of stuff! I may get a bottle of that tire stuff that you have! Thanks for sharing! going to check out some of your other vids as well

@@firedog451 Thats cool it has 2 modes! My air compressor doesnt do well with my inflatable kayak.. i may need a different valve for it though since it doesnt seal properly with the tire connector. That sounds like a great setup! I love truck bed tents ! The tire inflator stuff is definitely a nice to have as a backup to my spare tire ! Have a great time in the canyon lands! I love camping on sand but i hate how sand gets EVERYWHERE lol Thanks for checking out the channel! Appreciate it
