Truck Bed Camping and exploring a new creek!

I'm living in my truck bed camper for 3 weeks and exploring everything in North Carolina. Today's hike was very nice. The fishing was blah. Dinner and locating more free camping sites made the trip worth it! I always start by searching the applicable national forest website for dispersed camping regulations and areas. After I get into an area I like to explore it more making notes of camping sites I find!

    I live where your fishing. I love that I can identify the markers and know exactly where your at. I love fishing up where your at. So many good fishing holes and the scenery is amazing! Yesterday, I was in the valley fishing Johnathan creek. Caught 3 rainbows and one brown. Though it’s stocked it was nice to feel tight lines. Waters are high from the heavy rains but the water is clear and the fish are biting. Today I’m going to head out to Raven Creek in Cherokee. Some awesome trout fishing in those waters too! Thanks for making these videos.

    I haven't fished that stream in years, watching your video motivates me to go give it a try again. I'm going to be camping fairly close to there next week, hopefully the fish will cooperate. Thanks for the great videos!

    Cool! Eating good again I see. Was wondering if you ever get sore from all those miles of bushwhacking and fishing and hiking? It pays to eat well and take care of yourself. Keep it up! 🐟👍🏻

    I usually need a slow day every 2 weeks and look for easy road side spots for that. But I try to stay in shape so I don't get too sore on the road!

    When you are prospecting for camping sites, are you dropping pins so that you know where they are when you return or are you just working from memory?

  • @LooknFishy

    @LooknFishy

    I do a little of both. I carry my Delorme and mark the road but not each site specifically. Then I tab the top so I can easily find it later.

    The most important thing about fly fishing is getting out and exploring and trying new things! Not replicating someone else’s trip

    I add general areas like state. Also add details in other videos when I intro a series like this one here in NC. But don't typically repeat it for every video. I add tips and technique in dedicated videos. Some like to just see the fishing, others like info...hard to make a video that works for everyone. Check out my tips playlist for a ton of dedicated walk thru vids!
