A headache is not stopping nothing. It’s just there to hang chains on

It would not help. The momentum and the weight headed towards a headache rack is not going to stop the load from shifting forward into the cab

Reduces payload, a 500 pound headache rack on a 80k pound truck. Yea that's the reason

Even better than a a headache rack... using your brain and actually doing the job properly. 25 yrs OTR flatbed, safety is nothing to get lazy about. My first priority is the safety of myself and the public, and I will always over secure my loads. I don't care if it takes an additional hour, I'm not going to kill anyone because I was lazy or brain dead.

A headache rack isn't going to stop many things but if it slows it down enough it might save your life...

One thing is look for secure mental. Chains should be used, straps would be used In tandem with chains. On a trailer you need more than just 4 or 5. You need an x in the front followed by 3 chains behind it for the first part. Then alternate with straps to another x on the rear

Stay in your lane. A headache rack isn't going to keep that load on the trailer and doesn't have anything to do with how much securement is required. "If it doesn't have a head ache rack, I'm not hauling it" .... WUT sound like a swift dry van
