80s had more crime. The benefit was no social media and obessision with tech. If we could get rid of that then we could get those old times back.

Well his lack of fighting with international rules limited his greatest plus he fought alot of unknowns in American rules kickboxing plus he was not an elite boxer he lost his title in his first defense

Troy Dorsey is truly one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He came to our karate school in Irving Texas many time, for free, to give us karate/fighting seminars, and this is while he was a Champion. Thank you Mr. Dorsey, from one of Kim Poole's students.

@@boranbkk4270 the other interesting point is his kickboxing record which only shows 11 of his 34 fights which was not uncommon to fight in undocumented fights especially in Texas and Oklahoma and remember he only fought above the waist kicks aka American rules so would have been interesting to see how he would have done against americans Rod Kei or Pete Cunningham or any international fights

Excelente luchador con una gran técnica, tanto de piernas como de puños.
I remember seeing Troy Dorsey fighting at a tournament in the UK back in the 80's. He was fighting in a semi-contact tae-kwon-do style, but was a really tough fighter and his opponent had to retire!

Très bon combattant de full contact
Very disciplined, sometimes to a point of over-training, yet very serious fighter, and he loved fighting. I used to refer to him as the "mullet guy", boy he was good! His dojang is about 6 miles south from were I live.
Dorsey could land punching combinations at such distance. Conversely, he could also cut off the ring and stand toe-to-toe on the inside with excellent elusive technique where his opponent would throw multiple non-landing punches and then boom, Dorsey lands a shot. Also, I had always thought Benny Urquidez had the best all-time spinning hook kick - - - but then one day I saw Dorsey's spinning hook kick with his ability to execute it, hitting its mark from any angle and from various ranges. What incredible technical skill - - what an incredible fighter.

MMA guys barely know how to strike compared to top karate/kickboxing guys like this....I trained karate quite seriously as a youth....by the time I was in 8th grade I got my black belt and won many local, regional & national tournaments. I can honestly say my kicking skills and footwork were as good or better than anyone that has ever been in the UFC. You've seen those videos of Joe Rogan showing off his kicks (he used to compete in Tae Kwon Do) and impressing MMA guys, it's the same thing.

Wonder how Troy would have done in a kick boxing match with Dutch Muay Thai champion Ramon Dekkers. Ramon was a man of smaller stature who mostly fought opponents from Thailand but used full Thai boxing rules. Both men ( Troy and Ramon ) were dynamic fighters and extremely aggressive in the ring.
