    Troy Polamalu may have been the most instinctive football player ever. The guy almost was like an animal (not slighting him cuz of the hair). But some of the plays he made were off of pure instinct. Players like him are a rare breed. The Steel city will miss you Troy, thanks for the wacky plays and memorable moments.

    Its hard to believe how much the NFL has changed in 5 years. Like when I was younger and was watching Troy Polomalu, Ray Lewis, etc I never thought it would end. Sure enough, it ended. I can't imagine how my parents were when people like Ronnie Lott, Mean Joe Greene, Etc retired. The game changed. We are talking about the best if not 2nd best SS to ever play in the NFL. Someone who didn't just play with talent and skill, but played with instincts. Troy was put on this planet to play Football. His genes were football.

    As a 4 decade long steelers fan I of course know Troy was special. He is the greatest big play, game changer player in Steelers history. Woodson was great so was Mel in the 70's, but neither of those hall of famers put in an individual effort to affect change at a critical part in the game as much and as many times as Troy did. Does that mean Troy is greater or better then those guys , or they the him ? NO. Troy deserves his own spot on the giant Mt. Rushmore of legendary Steelers.

    Many consider him the best Steeler player ever. Real tough to say that, when you consider our Dynasty of the 70's. We saw Rod Woodson take over games with his talent. Never saw a player do that and never thought I'd see it again. Till Troy came along. We were spoiled. We only had him 10 years before his talent died. He took a Polynesian Warrior ethos to football, and made it his own personal battlefield. I'd say we'll never see his like again. But hey, we got Troy after Woodson, so you never know. Great video.

It's the team as well Troy could have a good game but the STEELERS are having a bad one and they lose.

    Go to wikipedia, go search Troy Polamalu, go look at his stats. Then do the same with Ed Reed, and you come back and tell me Troy Polamalu is the greatest safety ever. Troy is good, but he aint no Ed Reed.

  • @DwizzleWolf

    @DwizzleWolf

    +TheSysifos you're a fool if you think Ed Reed is better just based of INTs. Troy had nearly 130 more tackles and twice the amount of sacks. Ed Reed was a right place, right time player. Troy Polamalu was the definition of a game changer. I never saw Ed Reed jump a snap count and sack a QB by jumping over the OL.

    More like after the 2011 season. That tebow playoff debacle felt like the beginning of the downfall to me. But the defense has been rebuild. Burns, davis look really good for rookies. DLine and and MLBs look great. If golson ever hits the field and turns out to be reliable, IMO we are only a pass rushing OLB short. This defense could turn in something special the next years. Its not the steelcurtain of the 70s, nor Blitzburgh of the 90s and also not that great 00s D which has been to 3 SB, but the arrow is pointing straight up. Hopefully they find their greatness in time before the window with ben is closing.

    Seriously. Why tf was Todd Haley fired but not Keith Butler? It was his fault we haven't been able to go back to the glory days of the Steel Curtain. And cutting James Harrison and him going to NE! Shame!

    Well in my opinion the reason is simple and feel free to disagree but if you look at the timeline Mike Tomlin ran Dick LeBeau out of town and angered the football Gods amd the D ain'tbeen the same since.The secondary 1 arm tackle,miss completely.Front 3or 4's pass rush is so so. The only bright spot is the young outside linebackers remind me of the Lloyd,Green,Kirkland and Gildon back when we actually earned the name Blitzburgh.

    What makes troy one of the best isn't the frequency of big plays and not consistently making big plays it's the fact that he came up with the big plays in HUGE situations when they were most needed, other safeties may have better states but Troy came through in the biggest situations.
