Sometimes when a repairman comes to my house to fix something, I ask them about the wind direction they keep secret. He or she often look at me like im crazy, which im sure is what they're trained to do. It doesn't matter. They know I know now and so the chess match continues.

Season 1, Episode 3 or 7, I think? The Halloween episode where Abed was Batman, and Pierce took a pill and built a fortress of armchairs. I'm just too lazy to look up the title and number lol. That was the episode Jeff was on the teachers' party with Slater, and "his kids" kept bothering him with everything. Danny Pudi said that was his favorite episode, because everyone was in their own element, and they were finally weaving a cohesive picture of where they saw Community going, and it was this odd but beautiful sort of patchwork. I think he's right, and Community did start insane.

I imagine a hero named Repairman. He doesn't wear skintight leotards or capes; he wears certified PPE at all times. He doesn't fight villains or evil organizations, but he does use his powers to repair the infrastructure damage caused by both the villains and the heroes when they do battle. While the Avengers are eating Shawarma, he's helping pull rubble off of citizens, and restoring roads so EMT's can access the downtown again.

There is so much brilliance to unpack in this storyline. But I just want to acknowledge how perfect it is that "Dennis" seems like just another part of the cult-ish weirdness with his apocalypse announcer vibe, until the joke is subverted when it becomes clear that he's gone too far even for these fucking loonies. I laugh every time.

The theme for this story line is the inferiority complex the trade school has. There’s another scene with Vice-Dean and Dean and the convo goes that the AC school is what really keeps Greendale afloat financially. The whole subplot makes too points: tradesmen are undervalued and maybe they take a little too much pride in their skills.

Yeah I noticed pretty much everyone in those years shit all over trade school with high school teachers doing whatever they could to talk any kid out of enrolling in one or attending career center. Now though since everyone went to college there aren’t enough workers to fill those “dirty” jobs so most blue collar workers get paid better with how in demand they are. While college grads have to struggle to get a job most tradesmen and factory workers can work wherever they want to and usually get a sign on bonus. Hell even the unions are desperate for help right now and you can get a pension and actually decent healthcare from them!
