Troubleshooting a Broan Nutone Bathroom Exhaust Fan Model SPKN110RGBL
Фильм және анимация
Hey y'all I had installed this fan last night, I had thee same issue multiple people have had. I couldn't find any troubleshooting videos anywhere. I had called up Broan/Nutone customer support and these are the steps they had me take. However the last thing you try is with an extension cord on the fan motor itself. If your fan works then the driver is bad and it needs to be replaced/exchanged. If you have questions leave them in comments, and I will try to help/clarify.

Thank you for this video! I already returned 1, and when this one didn’t work, I knew there was something “Simple” that needed to be done

Glad I could help! It’s a pain for sure with the wireless switch
Thanks for the info... saved me a lot of time after complete bathroom demo and renovation... to tired to read all the directions lol
Thank you. I unplugged my speaker and disconnected the pigtail that runs from the driver to the edge of the light and plugged everything back in and held the button for 5 seconds and mine came on
Make sure that the ceiling fan switch on your wall is turned on!!! (Your original house switch that is, not the switch that came with your ceiling fan), otherwise nothing will work, and it won't pair with bluetooth unless that switch is in the on position. I am shocked it doesn't say this clearly in the manual, I bet many people are returning their fans thinking they are faulty, when all you have to do is flip the switch!)
Thank you you just saved us soo much trouble
I don't understand why they would give you a wall switch that can't use the power already provided at the switch location. Instead, you're supposed to replace batteries in it by switching the breaker off (for safety) and then remove the switch plate and then remove the battery powered switch from the gang box, replace batteries and then put it all back together and switch the breaker back on.
Thanx man. It worked for me, earned a subscriber

Yessir! Not a problem glad my diy barefoot home remodel video helped ya! Have a good one.
I have this same fan and I tried all the things you said and I turned off the breaker and back on , but mine has a blue light that blinks when I turn on the power on the wall , and it’s not the light around the device it’s a light in the middle right in the center around the brand sign . Any idea or tips !?

I also tried to disconnect all the wires in the device the two that you showed , I didn’t connect the extension cord to the fan , but since that blue light turns on when I turn on the power switch on the wall I figured it has power but nothing turns on just that blue flashing
Appreciate the video 🙏🏼

Not a problem glad I could help!
Question - I was able to plug in my fan external to the housing wiring which worked. I guess do you need the light module plugged in to have the fan work? I was about to replace the plug connections until I found this video. Regardless, thanks for the heads up.

Yes, from how I understand is you have to have the driver/lighting module pice plugged into the unit as that is what allows for the fan to know when to come on and off. If you just plug a 120v cord into the fan it’ll come on, because all the 120v connections on the unit it’s self is just to supply power to the driver and the fan motor. Hood that helps!
HOLA, LLEVO MAS DE DOS AÑOS CON ESTE PROBLEMA SIN PODER USAR EL MANDO DE LA PARED, SOLO LO USO CON EL TELEFONO PERO A VECES SE ME HACE INCOMODO :( Y CASUALMENTE MI ESPOSO COMPRO UNO HOY PARA VER SI ERA PROBLEMA DEL MANDO O NO Y LA VERDAD Q EL NUEVO ES LA MISMA SITUACION Y POR MAS QUE LE DE CABEZA NADA DE NADA , AHORA DI CON ESTE VIDEO Y VER SI PUEDO HACERLO , GRACIAS
Robert, can you tell me about the loose neutral? I have the same behavior, fan works when I plug in a cord. Voltmeter not showing anything on the hot jumping from the black outlet to the white one. I’m concerned something is going on there. Wires test out fine on the switch when I probe them.

Check your wiring inside of the junction box of the unit. Make sure that the black wire coming in has a good connecting to the black wire that goes to power the unit, same with the neutral, same with the ground. Make sure all your splices have a good connection. Just pull on each wire that’s in the wire nut make sure they don’t just come out of it. Feel free to respond if that isn’t the issue.

@@robertcourtney7030 late night, wasn’t paying too much attention, needed a day to clear my head. Thanks again.
I replaced the driver but how do you program the remote to the new driver?
@robertcourtney7030

From what I understand they both use a frequency wave or radio wave that is the same across the board so repeat the steps you would’ve done for the old driver, hold I think it’s the change color button for ten seconds after cutting power to unit
It should be direct wired It's all garbage that doesn't last

Agreed
Did you try filing a warranty claim? A lot of time companies will ship you the replacement part for free and save you the hassle of removing the fan box assembly.

@@eddiesfl7003 when I called customer support they told me to plug the fan in. If the fan works but the driver doesn’t your drivers bad. My issue is I had a loose neutral. But if the fan spins when plugged into an extension cord and it works it’s a bad driver. That comes straight from the manufacturer.

Thanks. I could not figure it out. This is exactly what’s going on with my unit.
What a joke of a product. This thing has me pulling me hair out. None of this trash works. The speaker worked and nothing else. Now nothing works at all

I would contact customer support then. Even though the steps in the video are straight from the manufacturer. I would check your connections one more time ( Your hot and neutral mainly). As in my case nothing was working at all because of a loose neutral. Also make sure you are pairing it right. Shut breaker to motor off from panel. As the unit is a constant hot to the driver with no dedicated switch leg. Turn the breaker off wait a minute and go back and press and hold I believe it's the turn light on button. The light should come on white setting. Make sure the fan motor works incase it ends up being a bad driver. I'm a electrician by trade and the amount of bad drivers from the manufacturer is outrageously high, which could be your case. If you got questions ask em and I may be able to help or at least to the best of my abilities so that you don't have to wait 45 minutes per call to customer support.
