@@amywebb9311 I used to work with her ex's daughter. Apparently she married the older brother thinking he would be getting a nice inheritance from his mother but the mother bypassed him completely and gave the money to the younger brother.......who she buggered off with.

What they should have done was detail the wedding they were giving away on the promotional stuff. Win a wedding and then list what it actually includes so For bride and groom/groom and groom/bride and bride and 50 guests. Menu - whatever they were willing to give away, dove release, honeymoon suite etc. Worth £xxx!!! That way, you're either happy with what you'd win or your not and don't enter. Not really rocket science to not leave yourself open to interpretation. If they want something extra/change from what was included in the prize then they pay the difference. It sounds to me that the couple thought win a wedding meant...the wedding they would have paid for. Christian didn't do himself any favours by asking open-ended questions, hence another reason it would have been better to detail what they actually win.

I agree 100%. I was thinking the same. 'free wedding' is completely open to interpretation! Are you including the photographer? The dress? The wedding insurance? Are you even including it on a peak season or off peak season. Fair play to Mark though doing something positive and promoting his business.

See how he tried to sneak in a month’s notice (skilfully done, explains a lot) Mark saw through that and gave him his week and showed him the door. As for the guests, esp the wedding...coming from an estate near you...

Nothing more humiliating than threatening your boss with your notice and they shrug and accept it, but Christian was a bad apple and made Mark's life much easier as I don't really think he wanted to sack him.

Are you able to put on series 4 of The Hotel? Would love to see Mark working at the other hotel again!

Its plain to see that the failure of mark keeping the hotel afloat was he didnt seem to have any respect or authority over the staff, especially cristian .. such a pity. 😞

Mark has great ideas & with the 'right staff' myself & my beautiful wife think he could own a string of hotels!!!!!

loving this series -hoping to see more ..i feel so sorry for mark -not one person of his "senior team" conducted themselves with any work ethic, kindness or respect for their boss and payer of their wages

Mark is a weak boss. You can be nice and firm at the same time. It's you and others livelihoods on the line. Christian needed to go long ago!

I really enjoyed watching this,loved Mark,Cristian and Alison especially. Although well meaning, I did think Mark just interfered too much, and then blamed everyone except himself. So glad, i don't work in a hotel. I can't imagine the amount of stress and verbal abuse you'd get would be totally unacceptable.

Christian stole more than £13,000 from the holiday camp where he worked and got 2 years for it and his real name is Nigel McCartney

That couple who pushed all of the expensive wedding fare for their "free wedding" has a lot of the blame for the mess Christian made. I hope they feel terrible, but I doubt it. "Freegans" never do. But he really had no business sense and made all kinds of excuses for his inability to say, "No". I hope he's learned from this. I feel bad for him, but come on! Drama queens, who can't separate their personal life from their work, really should find another profession.

Sorry dont agree, when a manager is putting his life and his money on the line to run an hotel, there should be some kind of respect and worth ethnic from his staff, most of them seemed to ride rough shod over him, Mark as a boss had no authority over the people he was employing/ paying, especially Christian, real shame.

Events take months to prepare, of course they do if Christian is in charge of em.

That marriage fair was obviously just organised by someone else with minimal effort by Christian. Mark was right, it looked like a wedding events company hired the hall to feature their products. Nothing at all about featuring the hotel as a venue for events. It may be the editing, but in all the episodes, Christian was the downfall and had a horrible attitude the whole time.

Yes, I thought at the time that it was sabotage on Christian's part! As a "freebie' there should have been a preset menu - not having the prospective bride dictate the food and drink:"NOT Pim's....!" she tells Christian. However, I fault Mark for not instructing Christian in advance on what was okay and what was not. #1 The number of guests (it kept growing) #2 the menu #3 the drinks. Those were Mark's rules to impart from square #1.

In the last or one of the last episodes of the series you see him announce to the staff that he has had to sell up,was quite sad to watch as he was clearly going to be missed by the staff and you could see he put 100% effort into the hotel to try and make it work. Not sure if you know but there was a follow up series after he sold up where he then went to work at a Hotel over the road called the Cavendish.
