I first heard about Troma when they offered $600,000 to finance John Waters' "Flamingos Forever", which was intended to be the sequel to 1972's "Pink Flamingos". The sequel ended up getting cancelled as Divine wanted to focus on serious, male roles (like "Trouble In Mind" for example), and Edith Massey, the Egg Lady, died in 1984.

Is Lloyd moving flashlights behind a curtain to make it look like searchlights? It sure looks like it!

So glad I’m not insane. I knew I remembered a plane or UFO intro crashing into a tower but assumed due to 9/11 that intro was removed or I just remembered wrong. The 7:39 mark on this video proved I’m still sane. Thanks for this video.

I have a DVD of The Toxic Avenger signed by Lloyd Kaufman from Indy PopCon 2017. Also, the 2nd logo has to be my favorite of all time.

*YOU HAVE SUMMONED THE TOXIC AVENGER* I'm only 20, and I love the Toxic Avenger movies. So cheesy...yet so goddamn good. Okay, so they're actually shitty. But so shitty that I can't help but love them. Kinda like my relationship with Troll 2. I feel the same way about that movie.

The fact that Lloyd Kaufman is in his 70s and still making films definitely does put him in the "Cool Old Guy" trope section.

@@JontyMaster Because these logos, despite being good for their time, started to get dated by today's standards. And the 5th logo is really bad, not only because of the really cheesy animation, but also because of the entire bizarre subject matter. And the music at the second half is stolen from an rock band.

@@ManF3 Most of their films play on 1950s horror with elements of farce, parody, gore, and splatter, and they usually produce low-budget independent films, so that's possibly why they have some quite cheesy animation. Lloyd and Mike probably still wanted to go with the old school flow, which is possibly why they kept the 2nd logo. I never knew that the 5th logo had stolen music. Good catch.

You kinda fucked it up, dude. TROMA was logo-less throughout the 1970-s and early 1980s. The first logo they used on "Class of Nuke'Em High" (the same font they did their opening titles - classy) They used this logo for their theatrical releases until 1989 when they replaced the font to a more funky one. The "Grade-A TROMA" was used for the VHS-releases only from 1987 till 1989 The thing is - in 1989 they released on VHS lots of movies from earlier - and used the "new" logo for those. After that - it's pretty accurate...
