    One small detail that is not correct tho, I've seen others also clame this in similar videos: "The motor uses the same ammount of power, no mather the speed setting(1-5)". This is simply not how resistors work, they do use some power(very true) that is transfered into heat while they resist the current and voltage to pass, so that the 800w motor(speed 5) does not use 800w on speed 1 too, easy to confirm with an ampere meter between the motor and battery(i have it installed to see motor usage vs solar charging). But it might use 120w instead of 100w with pwm compared to that standard "controller" and i love the idea! 🙌 I guess in my case, the easiest way would be to simply leave the motor in speed 5 and use the pwm between the battery and motor(i want to keep the warranty). Thanks for the tip! 😎👍

    Oh that makes sense! Do you have any insight as to whether or not the pwm uses less due to the off section of the wave or pulse... I hope this question doesn't induce too much cringe as I have very basic knowledge of this stuff! Hahaha

    @@americanboathead5390 i'm a noob too 😅 but i believe it's mostly because you replace the loss in the resistor. I think also the motor would be stronger(higher torque) on low rpm using pwm too(might not be true without an rpm sensor connected to the pwm), compared to a resistor, but i'm not 100% sure on that one. PWM is often 96-99% effective, compared to resistor that might be only 80% that translate to ~20% longer runtime for the same watt usage

    Excellent way to simplify! My motor has two wires going to the control so I mounted the control at the dash as you said. So simple. Quick tip: drill a hole in the vertical tube coming up from the motor. Run the wires thru that hole. Now you have a tube sticking up to mount the rear light pole into.

    First of all thank you for the credit, but you deserve it more!!! 👏 as far as the pwm: I would look for one that has these things A switch for reverse. A high Amp rating (at least 60A) I would also buy an inline fuse (resettable if you can afford it) I'll try to send an Amazon link in next message.

    If you search "pwm" in amazon, the first result looks pretty good to me! To extend the control wires, you can get inexpensive servo wire that will work!

  • @americanboathead5390

    @americanboathead5390

    The fwd rev has to be after pwm as in between pwm and motor NOT between pwm and battery. Otherwise youll get reverse(backwards) polarity to pwm and it will blow it up. Ive done it lol the pwms i get have the rev built in so that helps

    Can you Verify Biggest 2 wires, usually red and black are full Power, and Big red is not needed for the other Speeds. Only 1 small control wire to positive is good. To reverse direction, Reverse polarity of 1 small wire and Large Black? Thanks Did Searches before, this first one I found that shows control connections. Previously I thought the control,(small) wires made different connections with each other, and may even connect to the positive or negative. Thanks again

  • @americanboathead5390

    @americanboathead5390

    I dont fully understand how they work tbh.. I know that the big red and black wires is all you need but to go in reverse, you need + going to the black wire and - to the red. The little wires are essentially small reds. If you touch the wires to a small battery you can figure it out without damaging the motor. Imo
