Trolling for SHALLOW Spring Lake Trout!

Спорт

The vast majority of lake trout, when water temps are 45 or under, inhabit depths of 120-1000 feet. BUT, do some Lake Trout go super shallow as well? Join us for this episode as we take a chance and find out!

I really enjoy your raw open-ness about trying a new thing, inquiring, experimenting. To me, this keeps fishing new, fresh, and innovative: Hey....9 times out of 10 we dont get a light bulb on.....but then....there's that ONE time. And youre the ONLY one whose seen the light! And that's fishin. Positive random reinforcement. Question: would you mind saying if you were east or west of Nip? We experiemented with this far east of Nip and had a tough go marking only a few. this was last week of April..... across about 10 miles of shoreline structure/points of interest.

One of our favorite bites happen the moment the ice is off the lake, mid April. We have had days of over 20 trout, casting right to the bank with plastics. The smallmouth can be equally as good if you get lucky into them. Fork tails not paddles, for better depth and fall rate.Usually we are the only boat on the water too!

Awesome video! We came across the patter of the early spring, super shallow Lakers on champlain trolling the stick baits like you. We took that and found out they will also crush swimbaits and casting spoons using lighter spinning and casting gear! Super fun way to get into the open water after ice fishing.

When I lived in Montana we fished every Ice out In 25' or less for lakers the same way. Always figured they were in the shallow warmer water after the bait fish hanging in the warmer water. The best bite of the year normally.

Great Video again. Thanks! Been watching for years. Just wondered what speed you were pulling the crankbaits? 2.0 mph or so? Or maybe slower due to the cold water?
