HOW TO Locate and Catch BIG LAKE TROUT Jigging

Спорт

Summertime Lake Trout fishing can vary depending on the body of water you are fishing. Deep lakes can often be great year-round for Lake Trout fishing even in summer when shallower bodies of water may have less aggressive Lake Trout. This video will cover the structure, depth, and lures to use to have a successful summertime Lake Trout bite.

Keep hustlin man your killing it!! Also at 6:20 when you dicided to reel away and make him chase is one of the best ways to never miss hook sets. I let my bait basically sit there or with little jigs until you get a follow then make em chase. It’s a thrill everytime 👍👍😁

Don't you get an insane amount of line twist from reeling so much on the hook set while the drag is spinning? For me if I hear the drag spinning while I reel I need to reel slower. Might just be me though.

  • @MountainStateAngler

These types of vids drive me crazy. Supposedly, he is telling us what we neeed to know to catch these fish. At one point, he tells us we need to use the right length rod... but then never tells us what he thinks is best. No idea what length, what action, what line weight rating, nothing other than 'it needs to be right' (which we already know that it needs to be right). We can figure out the size reel with little problem, but we are never told what weight line you are using. Is it 8 pound? 10 lb? 20 lb? Is it mono or braid/. I never got a good look at the reel so I do not know if braid or mono. If braid, any specific color of braid? What brand does he like? What size jig heads and baits being used. He told us the brand and type, but no size info. So what we got from this vid is that there are fish out there. We knew that. How about telling us how to catch them. That is what we were told would happen with this vid. But we were not given that information. Disappointing. Gave the vid a thumbs down.

Yea I have to get better at doing many things in my videos. My apologies for missing on this if I did in this video. Details: Rod - 5’8 Line - 15lb straight braid Reel - Pflueger President or Daiwa Regal 3500 Lure - VMC 1/4oz or 1/2oz jig head with a 4inch paddle tail that is a shad by Storm 360 I’m pulling up lake maps and locating humps in 55 65 75 or 85 feet of water. I move around if I don’t see any after 10 min and so on and so forth. Where these fish are fully depends on the season. Ice of their shallow but near deep water fast so like a flat that goes into a slope, similar in fall then in spring later and summer you’re definitely mostly targeting then 45 to 85 feet of water. Hope this helps. I don’t really care for a thumbs down or up, I am not some TV show or full time fisherman. I work my ass off all week and make these videos for fun with some education and I love sharing. I appreciate the comment and will take notes to improve my videos when it comes to explaining I truly appreciate your detail response! Have a good one and I hope you get some good fishing!

@@MountainStateAngler This vid is from a year ago, and I made my post only two hours ago. That's... Uh......Fast. I am 62 years old and have never caught (or fished for) lake trout and it is on my bucket list this year. I have binge watched almost 65 vids in the last two weeks, and not a single one has told me the set up. They just say to use these jigs and go out and catch them. Now I have a better idea of what to be trying. Ido not have a very sophisticated fish finder, but should help. I like the idea of what attracts bait fish (I have a wild story about watching bait fish being ambushed by a three pound trout where the average trout was about 1.5 pounds and using a marshmallow for a bobber because I did not have a small enough bobber for the application, but that is another story). OK, so now I have a 6.5 foot 10 to 20 rated rod. I can use my steelhead bobber reel with 15 lb braid on it. Good so far. I was planning on using a standard 8.5 foot steelhead rod (Ugly Stick) but will take it along and keep it in reserve. still trying to decide what lure to use here in WA state. Not too much info on lake trout here except in Lake Chelan. We have one lake only 30 minutes from me that is said by our DFW to have lake trout in it, but it is shore access only. No really deep water next to shore. everything else is more than 100 miles away and I am having difficulty driving that long. I will figure this out but am thinking I will be trying some of the Gulp or Power bait products. So, just from your response, I changed the TD to a TU and...... oh, gosh, I subscribed. Sorry it took me slightly more than 2 hours to subscribe. Guess it worked out well in the end. Oh, and you might like it, I use a Fish Cat Panther as my boat. Not too fast with the 36 lb thrust electric on it, but it hits 4.5 mph (using GPS tracking) and I have been caught in a sudden storm with waves breaking over the boat and made it to shore safely. But your boat is nice, too....😁
