Stupid idea getting rid of trolleybuses and replacing then with dirty pollution desil buses. Trolleybus are clean transport buses. The council need a kick up their backsides they must be corrupt

That's very intelligent for them to replace Trolleybuses by mostly diesel buses. It's like replacing electric and disks train by steam...

If the new system doesn't they could use a horse and cart, at lest it shouldn't breakdown In been known as hilly Wellington you'll need gas masks when you are near the buses

They were great. They seemed to come off the wires when drivers went to fast and the sharp angle made the contacts bounce off. Now we inhale diesel fumes mmm cost savings!

It a shame they went. They made Wellington very different to most buses.

It is quite sad. Smh....

It comes down to poor maintenance now it will cost a lot to fix, so it must go the same thing happened with Wanganui’s trams no thought in maintaining the system I would what Melbourne citizens would say if Melbourne leaders tried to get rid of the trams

I love trolley buses I hope one or two end up at Queen Elizabeth Park, so people can see Wellington's what was once part of the cities commuter transport

I am not a native of Wellington so I am not the best to comment on this but it seemed that originally they were going to replace them with electric buses; however, there has been controversy as it seems there won't be enough electric buses to replace the whole system, thus some diesel buses would be in place.

Trolley buses are electric so I believe which power for the motor is on tap all the time, where as the other type uses batteries to power the electric motor. The problem batteries can go flat without warning, so they are jumping from the pan into the fire

@@prateekrout7284 Its still 90% diesel and it sucks the EV buses are not very good either no air conditioning and feel very cheap and apparently dont have good charge

My city goverment also wanted to get rid of trolleybuses, but when they said that to people, they started protesting. Thats why we still have trolleybuses
