Škoda 24Tr Irisbus trolleybus in Riga is entering the portion of line 27 that has no overhead wires (trolleybus catenary). Riga trolleybus network has several sections without the catenary. Trolleybuses in Riga Latvia are operated by Rigas Satiksme.

There is a portion of the route, where no overhead wires (catenary) exist :) So, when trolleybuses are approaching this section, they are pulling the poles down :)

Its called an EPU (Electric Power Unit) this is usually on trolleybuses. It happens when there is a road blockade or something else happening blocking the road or wires.

I’m not general, you are right, but In our case, there is a diesel generator inside that produces electricity. And several trolleybus routes are operating with such sections permanently.
