Trivel E-Azteca Review - $3.7k

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Trivel E-Azteca is an elevated, recumbent delta trike that's easy to approach and highly adjustable to fit different rider sizes, the seat post boom slides back and the handlebar stem telescopes up. Unique comfort saddle with sturdy back rest to support your back, basic ergonomic grips reduce hand fatigue, plastic fenders on all three wheels and a paint-matched alloy chain cover keep you dry and clean. The E-Azteca is available in two colors, maroon and white, and comes with a comprehensive year long warranty, it appears to be a joint build between Trivel (an established trike manufacturer from Canada) and Velec (an established ebike company). Large greyscale LCD is easy to read, pedal assist is responsive but the motor is so zippy that it spins out the front wheel frequently, mechanical disc brakes offer good stopping power and both brake levers have motor inhibitors, twist throttle is satisfying and smooth.

I bought one of these for my wife in 2019 who has MS and cannot ride a regular bike due to balance issues and cannot walk well. It has been a great purchase that allows her to get outdoors and explore, Last summer we put on close to 1000 K. A highly recommended product especially for paved pathways and roads.

@Terry Davis THANK YOU for this review… I have nerve damage as a result of having had Guillain-Barrè Syndrome years ago, and I am also not able to ride a regular bike. This has given me so much hope and desire to get outdoors again! Thank you!!!

Congratulations on 100k subscribers! Nice looking bike. I have been particularly interested in trikes for a while. I have convinced my father to ride a bike as a physical activity. He was hesitant at first because of his age but then I show him that there are e-bikes and e-trikes. And now he is making forum researches and looking for some specific features he wants on trike models when I show him. As far as I know, right now he wants a trike with; upright but comfy sitting, rear or mid drive motor, push on both rear wheels when pedaling, a nice load basket and especially throttle. So, unfortunately, this is not the bike he is looking for. Still, I like the model.

For seniors, trikes could replace a car. Trikes eliminate the balance problems of a two-wheeler and with a huge basket, shopping is do-able. As has been said about 3-wheeled cars, putting a trike's two wheels in front is the more stable design and reduces tipping over when turning. Design-wise, I dont trust the really long chain and drive system. For older eyes, the display's importance should be minimized. Display is most useful for its battery charge level. Who needs the display functionality of a higher-tech mountain or road bike? Keep it simple. (My 2 cents and all that)

I agree. He hates 2 wheels in front though. I think it is mostly because of the look. For all others, you are completely right.

I like the red trike w basket. For my 270 lbs, the center of gravity must be lower than a Schwinn Meridian. But I really don't see the need for a 18 speeds. A Sturmy-Archer 3-speed hub would be adequate, especially for a machine that is motorized. It's good that all the weight is over the rear axle. overall I think it's a good design however the price tag is Way Beyond what it's worth. For $300, (+battery), I can buy a front wheel hub kit for my Meridian 26 in. for general rriding and grocery store runs.

It would be good if they could program the throttle to feather in a little easier. I might need a helmet shin and elbow pads going 20 mph on a trike but that's just me. Nice bike.

Do you know of any company that sells a Delta trike that has 20in wheels all the way around with a electric chain driven that uses the gears of the bike and plus has a mesh seat that would fold down so you can lay flat on it?

Hi there, I like your reviews, but I think that you should promote safety as well, and get a camera holder so you can ride with both hands. This is a suggestion from some who enjoy your reviews. Thanks.

Which do you think is easier to control and safer? A 2 wheel ebike or a trike like these? Do you find this recumbent more or less comfortable than the two wheel ebikes?

The chain is driving the right tire, you put the motor on the left side to drive the left tire. Easiest possible thing in existence.

Using a front wheel hub motor on a trike makes no sense to me, except maybe cost-effective. Do you see benefits?

  • @glenswada

In a tight turn, the inner back wheel doesn't rotate, so a hub in a back wheel has limitations as well. Best option for delta trike is a mid drive with rear axle differential. But it would off cause cost more than a single front wheel hub motor.

if you have never ridden a three wheel bike you will find it tends to handle more like a car than a bike, flat stance in turns instead of leaning into a turn. If you are going a good speed and make a sharp turn one of the back wheels will leave the ground, seeing only one of the two rear wheels are drive wheels you can put your drive wheel in the air and loose traction. here is the advantage to front wheel drive on a trike, when to rear wheels comes off the ground the front wheel will power you into the turn without loosing traction and actually help you pull down the rear in tight turns. not that i recommend riding a trike at high speeds ; )

It's not just the most obvious thing in the world, it's just as easy to put the motor on the rear tire rather than the front. Who is responsible for all this laziness and lack of brains? It;s every brand. Every brand is too stupid to test and adjust their own products.
