Just picked up my trident 2 days ago and I must say, your videos were a big inspiration! I absolutely love it and just ordered the grip puppies and levers today as well as the Tec bar end mirrors as I’m not crazy about the stock mirrors, they look a lot like my scooter. Levers are the best options from what I heard from others as well. Don't worry about the paint, out of sight out of mind, it will wear off or grow on you, no other way out, so no need to worry about it, unless you wish to customise the paint of the entire set with another colour. For pegs, I would recommend keeping the stock, those pegs were designed to be a "jack of all trades" for city rides and twisty road maneuver ability, tested over a million kilometres. Would recommend using extenders for confirming leg positions, seeing that you're quite tall for the bike.

I agree with your comment about the Street Triple QS, it is brutal at times, especially at lower revs, that it doesn't like at all. At higher revs and a very positive boot movement you get the wonderful continuous exhaust note indicative of the use of a QS. Like you for 'normal' riding I still use the clutch which I have to say the change is almost imperceptible. Which leaves me to believe a Quick shifter is only meant for ''giving it a bit of wellie'....The problem of vibration can be overcome using a Quadlock with anti vibration fitting on a RAM mount.... Ive used one for the last few month with no problems to my Phones Accelerometer...Greetings form España

Thanks, Brian. I agree quick shifters do need 'careful' use and I really only use them when accelerating hard for a few seconds, say coming off a roundabout on a dual carriageway. I've read a few scare stories about smartphones being ruined by handlebar vibrations, so I'd rather play it safe, especially with phones now often costing over €1000 ;)

Mainly because quickshifters on sportier higher revving bikes aren’t designed to be used at lower RPM’s, the ignition cut is too agressive for smooth shifting at low RPM’s, they simply aren’t designed for usage in that fashion.

Good update there, that quickshifter is great. I get where you are coming from re the pegs ie too bright... Now time would let em tarnish off thru use and wear however you "could" treat the surface somehow ie anodise it or go full ghetto with sea water, a car battery and some tea bags for colour/flavour? You have options 😊 Paint can be a pain with alloy so if you needed the black probably best to swap if you can. Have fun with it! ps Nice Van 👍

@@RocketMan_Moto I am interested in this too. Two important things for me now is this lowered pegs synchronizing with height of shifter/brake and change rear supsension to something not that stiff - Ohlins maybe? Maybe its just a too stiff seat and not just a stiff suspension. This will be way to go if it is possible. Otherwise too small and stiff for me :(

I can highly recommend the bar end mirrors for both style and function. I'm interested in your and other peoples thoughts about a full rear wheel guard/hugger to cover that tyre, protect the shock and the under seat area. Also, a radiator guard and/or front guard extension. I think I'm lucky with the trident, the bike instantly 'fit' me. Foot pegs, levers, bar position, seating; it just fits. That said, there could be a better foot brake lever solution in my future. :-)

I feel the exact same way about accessory branding. The last thing I want is 15 different logos all over my bike.I wish aftermarket manufacturers would just give you an option to have the part without the logo. If those levers are anodized aluminum which looks like they are you could just use a mild paint stripper to take the logo off as it shouldn't affect the anodizing. Of course this is not a guarantee

Quickshifter. We used one for drag racing in the late 80s. It was powered by a bottle of compressed air that had to be refreshed after a few runs down the strip. It cut the ignition for a fraction of a second and banged in the next gear from a button on the handle bar. Sometimes we didn't bother with it ( testing to give an idea etc etc)and just rolled off the throttle a bit and stamped in the next gear - we had flipped the gear lever for racing: 1up 5 down I never felt it did the gearbox any good and was only used to get the best standing quarter time. I certainly didn't use it on the bike when riding on the road (it was road legal) - what would be the point? Bike: 1980 GSX...1300ish big bore from 1100,cams etc etc - 165bhp at the back wheel - 230+kgs? ...A long time ago...My mate got the best time of 9.9odd seconds 140+mph on it. My point is that the quickshifter was very hard on the gearbox though not as bad as a clutchless change - you can often stamp gears in clutchless on full throttle on some bikes or with a quick wrist-flick roll off- depends on the bike. Why bother? We are not racing. I think its just a Fad and laziness to use a quickshifter on the road. I wonder if it is smashing up the gear cogs long term. Quote I found on the www from fitting an after market quickshifter to a Hayabusa "I would suggest starting with lengthy kill times and work down to briefer ones. If you miss gears and it slams back down under load or backtorque, it's extremely rough on the gear box. You will find chunks in your oil. I did and I think it's gear dog slivers. " [ouch]. Maybe these new slipper clutches are part of why this can be done. But - what is the point of a quickshifter? If you want to go faster buy my bike Suzuki GSXR 1000 K5 - 177bhp 185kgs wet. It was £4200. Convenience perhaps - nice to have a quickshifter? It's totally okay to have a quickshifter though - lol - do as you wish ! Oh - -I wouldn't use it mid corner - it might kick the back tire out. (gear changes mid corner -it happens - I forget not to sometimes). Logically changing ratios FAST at the back wheel will unsettle the back tire...something to be aware of and maybe try to test under controlled conditions (when you are ready for it !)...loose road surfaces, wet, heavy braking when the back wheel is light etc. ..I would test/play around with it for Up and Down shifts. - -ABS - never had it - I would test that also - do a LOAD of emergency stops -see what the front tire does. ** If someone can convince me that a quickshifter will not wreck the gearbox in 30,000miles then I suppose its ok. ** I'm 63 - you're never too old unless you let yourself go physically . I have to ride a bloody bicycle (!!!) to stay fit. Warmest regards.

Looking back at only memories now, the best of them are not from going fast in the quarter mile, not racing friday night mx at Ascot, not ripping through mtn roads like an idiot, 7but just being happy on the bike. Hence the good 'ol honda '82 XR250.. That thing went everywhere.. And it was just plain fun. Didnt have the torque of the 600r, but when you start needing more power to be happy, maybe something has been lost with the experience? Don't know for sure, but my best riding memories are from simply hopping on the old quarter pounder in shorts and tennies in the desert and going for a putt. Peelouts on the big bikes were fun too, but, I wish i never let go of the smaller bike. it just had a certain perfection, that i connect the CB500x to in my mind, haven't tried one... Yet...

You mentioned Triumph bar end mirrors. Any reason to these than tekbike as Triumps are more expensive for a similar item?….just curious as I may swap mine over but In Australia they’re $319 for the OEM versions? I’m undecided on tank bag versus a rucksack….for now Ive bought the Kriega Max28…for work mostly…but might be a strain on longer rides so then may check out tank bags like yours. Can I ask where you sourced the replacement radiator cowls from and how much?…I’d prefer black so may spray or wrap them black. I’m also not keen on the red/silver sticker on the black sapphire so hope to peel that off too. Again just aesthetics that I’d prefer. Meanwhile look forward to more of your videos ✌️

I agree the Triumph bar end mirrors are very expensive. So expensive, in fact, that I ended up cancelling my order. For the time being, I am continuing to use the factory 'Mickey Mouse' mirrors. I did wonder how lowering down the peg would affect the operation of the lever. Moving the lever too, would be a bit more of an engineering challenge. The original Triumph ones on your Trident or my Speed Twin do look quite good. To be honest, and like you say about the brake levers, how much would it really cost for Triumph to put something on that's adjustable as standard ? I’m modifying my 660 (same colour as yours) and I’ve found a screen manufacturer, who have a sports screen available although still in production it seems (but I’ve ordered one) and I’d like hard luggage so I can tour without someone nicking my bag while I’m sipping a coffee. Do you know if there’s any hard luggage available for the Trident yet? Re aftermarket pegs. Return them and get the black, it does matter, it’s visually unsightly and your eyes will be drawn to them every time you approach the bike Stay safe Oh forgot. Get the grab handles fitted, easier to manoeuvre the bike, get it onto the paddock stand single handedly and i think it looks fantastic

I bought a roll of 3M Scotchgard a few years ago, so just cut out a 'tank pad shape' piece approx. 20 x 12cm, rounded off the corners and stuck it on. As it's quite small, there weren't many contours to cover and it went on quite easily.

Try nail paint remover on the logo , be careful use very very little of it with a cotton swab, hopefully it will remove the logo witjout any problem.

@@RocketMan_Moto that’s certainly better than nothing. I suppose a backpack would also be a bit tough to design without having the straps flailing all over, though there’s certainly a few ways around that too

@@RocketMan_Moto I know it seems a bit cheap sounding but it’s so easy to takeoff or change etc. that it’s really almost always worth trying. I have a wallet that’s a nice leather wallet with a shown on logo what’s the brand I’m not particularly keen on being associated girl and it’s quite small and on the edge of the lip of the wall it right on the outside of the fold so I took a little piece of electrical tape And applied it right over it and it’s been there for years now and you really can’t see it unless you’re looking for it right up close in fact I’ve been kind of shocked at just hell invisible the line between the leather and the tape is because it’s kind of blend it in. I had a similar situation with a piece of black brushed metal and because of the brushed nature the line from the tape is completely Imperceptible because there’s lines all over it because of the brushed satin appearance of The metals finish
